Lady at soft play

Beckyboo123 · 20/12/2019 13:13

I’m sat at a local soft play centre which is very busy and the lady at the next table to me has been filing her nails for the last 15 minutes. AIBU to think that it’s a bit gross?

Are her nails contagious or something?

Beckyboo123 · 20/12/2019 13:18

No but I’m sat here eating my lunch and only a few feet away she is filing her nails and the filings and dust is going everywhere.

It can’t be going that far unless she’s using a pneumatic drill to do them. It’s soft play, the air is ridden with toddler bugs. I couldn’t get worked up about it.

stupidtabloidheadlines · 20/12/2019 13:20

It's not nice, but not as nasty as the one changing dirty nappies on the coffee table that I encountered :0

formerbabe · 20/12/2019 13:21

You are being ridiculous

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 20/12/2019 13:21

Id say thats the least of the germ worries in a soft play.
Make up on the train however- they should be shot

lauryloo · 20/12/2019 13:22

that is a bit grim - people eat at those tables

MrsMoastyToasty · 20/12/2019 13:23

It's nowhere near as bad as pee in the ball pool.

rebecca102 · 20/12/2019 13:24

Soft play= germ fest

Relax.

Lozz22 · 20/12/2019 13:25

I had a woman sat clipping her fingernails on the table next to me in Costa. I spent the whole time expecting a stray nail to shoot over and land on my sandwich and cake

Tableclothing · 20/12/2019 13:27

I don't think it's ok to leave bits of your body lying around where other people eat.

InsertFunnyUsername · 20/12/2019 13:28

Soft play is the worst place you could be to be worrying about germs. I dont think it's that bad tbh I used to regularly see women doing it on the train etc.

Winterdaysarehere · 20/12/2019 13:31

Unless she continues with toe nails I wouldn't care.
But bits of nail in a food place isn't great!!

Equanimitas · 20/12/2019 13:35

No but I’m sat here eating my lunch and only a few feet away she is filing her nails and the filings and dust is going everywhere.

Come off it, how much dust does it realistically generate over and above the dust that is in the atmosphere anyway? Think how much is billowing up from all that activity in the play area. If you're that bothered, move tables.

Bluntness100 · 20/12/2019 13:37

Eh I think you may be exaggerating and being a bit silly. Filings and dust everywhere? What's she got, three foot nails?

TheReluctantCountess · 20/12/2019 13:37

Yeah that’s gross.

codenameduchess · 20/12/2019 13:38

It's not a germ issue though, its disgusting thinking someone's nails are in your food.
Yes soft plays are grim, but there's no reason for an adult to add to that by leaving nail filings at a table. And why is she doing it for 15 minutes?!

There is a guy where I work who regularly clips his nails in the kitchen and leaves them lying on the worktops.... fingers and toes 🤢

Bluerussian · 20/12/2019 13:40

It's not something people generally do in public but quite honestly I don't think she is doing any harm so please ignore.

I was once at a pub do - there was a band playing that husb and I liked - and a very young woman got out a huge make up set (like a slim suitcase) and proceeded to make up her face from scratch. I was appalled by that! Nail filing is small beer by comparison.

Tombliwho · 20/12/2019 13:40

It's funny to be complaining about dust from a nail file while you sit in a soft play Grin your kids will be playing in far worse.

DecemberSnow · 20/12/2019 13:41

You have more to worry about OP..

Soft play 4/5 days before Christmas, Not in hells chance!

So much going around

AngelsWithSilverWings · 20/12/2019 13:41

I'd be struggling with the horrible noise it makes. I'd have to move away for that reason alone. I can't even stand the noise when it's my own nails being filed.Germs wouldn't bother me

WatchingTheMoon · 20/12/2019 13:42

I think it's a bit minging. The sound goes right through me for starters and when people file back and forth, I want to grab the file from them to do it properly.

Not as bad as the woman who I saw cutting her nails on the train though. (

MustardScreams · 20/12/2019 13:42

Yeah good point, I’d be more worried about catch noro 4 days before Xmas and ruining it for everyone!

Drabarni · 20/12/2019 13:45

You're brave taking your kids to a cesspit before xmas, they're disgusting places full of piss and faeces and never emptied and cleaned.

troutknickers · 20/12/2019 13:46

@Bluntness100 I'm crying
