Lady at soft play

Beckyboo123 · 20/12/2019 13:13

I’m sat at a local soft play centre which is very busy and the lady at the next table to me has been filing her nails for the last 15 minutes. AIBU to think that it’s a bit gross?

Oh no !!! Please don't mention changing a nappy in a soft play thread, it just causes pure disgust to everyone on MN.

No it's not disgusting from a hygiene perspective but bloody annoying when parents treat soft play areas like babysitters and their child is not behaving nicely.

Aaarrgghhh · 20/12/2019 20:51

Pfefferkuchen Okay, you’re wrong. The person you quoted and responded to did not mention a nappy in their post. But whatever.

UltimateIrritant · 20/12/2019 20:57

Gross but not as bad as the women at the next table sat peeling each other's sun-burnt backs and making little piles of peelings! - bleurgh!

Pfefferkuchen · 20/12/2019 20:59

Aaarrgghhh
I know they didn't mention a nappy, I did Confused

read the thread, it will help you.

sqirrelfriends · 20/12/2019 21:06

YAB a bit U. While the thought of nail dust sitting on top of your coffee is grim, soft play is basically a giant petri dish of poo, puke and snot. A bit of (probably) clean nail is nothing.

Aaarrgghhh · 20/12/2019 21:07

Pfefferkuchen I don’t think you understand what I’m on about, I’ve been back and read the thread twice. I can’t be bothered explaining again. Let’s leave it here, it’s a silly thing to argue about.

surreygirl1987 · 20/12/2019 21:46

Slightly gross but honestly it's soft play... the whole place is filthy anyway! Not something I'd do myself but I wouldn't care.

Why is touching up lipstick yuck though? I literally don't understand
........
Nothing yuck about it but it isn't something you do in public.

Dieu · 21/12/2019 01:09

It's gross, OP. YANBU.

Biancadelrioisback · 21/12/2019 02:01

But why @bluerussian ?

Monkeynuts18 · 21/12/2019 02:28

@codenameduchess

What's the problem with someone putting make up on? How is that offensive?

Yes, the visceral rage this provokes in some people is really odd (see the post on the first page of this thread that says that people who do it ‘should be shot’).

I mean I get that’s probably hyperbole, but wishing death on a woman choosing to use her commute to put her make-up on?

I wonder if it’s because it’s something that only women do. And also disgust at a woman daring to appear in public without having made herself as attractive as possible beforehand.

Monkeynuts18 · 21/12/2019 02:35

It's a soft play, not a zoo

But a soft play is the closest place you can get to being in a zoo without actually being in a zoo. They are the most repulsive places. I just don’t understand how anyone concerned about microscopic bits of nail filings could stand to be within 50 feet of a soft play.

A soft play is the only place I have ever had to walk around in socks damp with a stranger’s piss. Admittedly the stranger was a child, but still.

Vulpine · 21/12/2019 08:14

Monkeynuts - i dont care whether people wear makeup or not, i just dont like people putting it on in public next to me. Its a bit yucky - all that pouting and gurning. I am also aware that not everyone feels like me! But its not something i have ever done.

codenameduchess · 21/12/2019 12:11

@Monkeynuts18 you could be on to something there.

I still don't see the problem, surely most don't 'pout and gurn' to the point it's upsetting anyone to touch up lipstick or pop their daily makeup on. It's not a dirty activity.

Biancadelrioisback · 21/12/2019 12:53

How the fuck are people doing their makeup if they need to pour and gurn?

Honeybee85 · 21/12/2019 13:40

Even the Queen applies lipstick in public....

DarkLikeVader · 24/12/2019 15:24

Are you my Dad OP? i was never allowed to file my nails when I lived with my parents because of the 'revolting' dust - i was meant to do it in the garden. (actually i put music on loud and did it in my room, but woe betide me if he caught me).
