Hermes have "returned" my parcel at my request?!

Crazyoldmaurice · 08/12/2019 19:42

I ordered 2 items that were going very cheap from studio on 28th November. Have been waiting all this time to have them delivered. Finally got an email this morning saying Hermes would deliver tonight from between 6-8pm. Just checked the tracking now only for it to say

"Update on your parcel. You've asked us to return your parcel to the sender - it's on the way back"

I did nothing of the sort! Now the items have sold out online so I reckon they'll be sent back to studio and I'll not be able to get them back as once they go back to warehouse I know things cant be traced once scanned in! Absolutely fuming as the items were a bargain. Has anyone else had hermes do this to them?

Mine has been being delivered 'today' since Thursday...

I have emailed the supplier to get them to chase it and also suggested that in future they use a different courier.

I don’t rate Hermes at all. Recently bought an item of clothing and they said they delivered it at 330pm to my house when I was out till 4pm. Recorded a signature which as just a line. Rang the company I bought it from and they said they were having a problem with things being stolen. Fair play then sent me another item, but by Royal Mail!! Hermes still “investigating” with their local courier

EvaHarknessRose · 09/12/2019 18:33

My Morrisons delivery driver did this to me last week grr

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 09/12/2019 18:37

Hermes are indeed shit. I realise they get paid peanuts, and I was disappointed to have a delivery from Lands End via them this week. Left in an open box on the drive, at a different time to that stated. Lands End aren't cheap, so should be able to use a more expensive reliable courier. Put me right off ordering from them again.

krazipan · 09/12/2019 18:50

Happened to me too. They had sent the items back. I now have Hermes items delivered to the local Co-op as that is more reliable. They are a terrible company.

MonaLisaDoesntSmile · 09/12/2019 18:53

I had that once and made a big comlpaint to them saying I have not asked the parcel to be sent back, but spent hours waiting for it in my living room. All my deliveries from then on were like clockwork.

Bingcankissmyass · 09/12/2019 18:56

Usually our Hermes driver is great, but i think they have employed a new driver for our area to cover the Christmas period. Got a email notification that a parcel had been delivered at 16.15, and that it was signed for. I'd been in the kitchen (front of our house) since 3.30 cleaning/prepping dinner and there was definitely no delivery. The driver forged a signature and did who knows what with our parcel! Got in touch with Hermes and the retailer, a replacement is being sent out - via Hermes 🤦‍♀️

ByAppointmentTo · 09/12/2019 19:53

I had a card from Hermes the other week telling me that they had left my parcel in my shed. I don't have a shed and neither do any of my immediate neighbours!

Mart182 · 09/12/2019 20:23

In 3 years over 90% has either been lost or they returned it, too busy to deliver everything. Lost items have all been in branded packaging ie Superdry etc. Mysterious and terrible.

poorstudent1010 · 09/12/2019 20:34

I live in London. Ordered some items recently, got the dispatch email as normal, then later an email from Hermes to say my parcel was due to be delivered that same day. Great.

Whilst at work, I randomly clicked on the Hermes tracking link, to find a GPS map of the driver’s current location....the driver was in bloody Birmingham! According to the tracking history, my parcel arrived at my local Hermes depot in London the day before but was randomly transferred to their Birmingham depot overnight and was now apparently out for delivery in Birmingham and 3 stops awayHmm

Had to frantically call the retailer, who called Hermes, who called the driver to desperately get them to return the parcel to the depot and stop the “delivery”.

It was so bizarre. When the parcel finally did arrive days later, all the labels were correct, so fuck knows why it ended up being transferred

Meljel · 09/12/2019 21:59

As an avid online shopper, I get MASSIVELY frustrated by Hermes on a regular basis (more so, obviously at this time of year) but the thing that frustrates me the most, is how these delivery companies make it IMPOSSIBLE to speak to an actual human being ON THE PHONE, IN PERSON and you end up losing the will to live!
If this happens to you, I think this was the number that finally got through for me! :)

They did this to me once. I contacted the original selling company and they sorted it.

I have also had several Hermes packages for a house with the same number but a different road whose entrance is hard to find left on my doorstep.

MerryChristmasEveryone1974 · 10/12/2019 05:34

Normally, Hermes are brilliant in my area, but this past week something has gone drastically downhill. Looking online, it looks as if they have had issues with being too busy and are really suffering.
I am currently waiting for 2 parcels and have had the dreaded update that there is a delay and it 'should' be on the move in 24 hours. I am very pissed off.
The worst thing is they're not even honest enough to put an update on their website informing people of delays.
My Hermes local delivery driver is lovely. I know he's going to be given a hard time by some customers this week because of this.
The company should be ashamed of themselves.

Beautiful3 · 10/12/2019 06:12

This happened to me once. It turned out it was because the parcel was danaged and items were missing.

CrohnicallyEarly · 10/12/2019 06:51

Hermes have been fine for me- they stick a card through the door usually just with ‘garage’ ticked. We don’t have a garage, but at least the card through the door means I know to go and look for it, and it’s usually undercover somewhere.

Unlike Royal Mail, who twice in the past week have left parcels siting on a bench round the back of our house and not put a card through the door. On one occasion it rained and the cardboard box disintegrated by the time I spotted the parcel, luckily the item inside was shrink wrapped so survived.

Aaron138 · 10/12/2019 11:05

A familiar story sadly. Very sad to read this, it's the last thing you need at this time of year. I wanted to keep fit but couldn't afford an exercise bike, so ordered one from studio to pay in installments. This was on 11th November. On the 14th, the parcel was supposed to come but Hermes declared that I wasn't in. When I rang, they said that was a mistake and the courier didn't deliver to my postcode so he'd taken it back to the depot. Over the next two weeks I kept calling Hermes just to be told they didn't know where the parcel was. Eventually they said they couldn't help me anymore and I need to contact Studio. I had to reorder the item and even then Hermes tried to deliver it to a different flat. I had to argue to get it. Mistakes happen but Hermes were rude and abrupt to deal with, they promised to get back to me but never did, that's not to say how difficult it was to even get a number that worked for them. They made so many errors and didn't apologise once. In the end it was a case of, this is resolved and we wash our hands of it, take it up with the vendor. We don't care. A horrible experience.

Eastie77 · 10/12/2019 11:23

My parcel (Lands End item like a PP) has turned up. I realise this isn't an option for everyone but I have all of my parcels sent to my work address (a large office you can't miss) and I've never had an Hermes delivery go astray.

Teighteigh · 10/12/2019 11:39

@Crazyoldmaurice not sure where you are located but my parcel kept getting rescheduled (turned up 5 days later), turns out it was because of the horrific rain, the hermes delivery man said the rain was making the signature machine jump pages and buttons so they had to stop when it got too bad. Hopefully it's the wrong button on the handhelp machine that's possibly been clicked for similar reasons for yourself, and will still be delivered. It is a massive pain when you stay in for days waiting for them though! Good luck

Ellie135 · 10/12/2019 11:44

Yep, same thing happened around the same time. I ordered my granddaughter a toy box but, like you, it was returned! Luckily I reordered at half the price but as yet my original toy box hasn't been credited to my account so I'm stalking my own Studio account!

MinervaSaidThat · 10/12/2019 11:49

Yes this happened to me H&M.

It's really annoying because the more something is unavailable (i.e. sold out) the more you want it!

I called H&M but they said as there was nothing left in stock there was nothing they could do.

MinervaSaidThat · 10/12/2019 11:51

what is this Studio website? Any good?

Cookit · 10/12/2019 12:02

I would love to know before I order anything online which delivery company they use. If it’s Yodel or Hermes I wouldn’t order from them.

Me too. Sometimes companies do state on their website. Honestly if I could pay more p&p for delivery by Royal Mail or DPD I would be willing to do this.

halloumi2019 · 10/12/2019 12:15

Hermes is dirt cheap for retailers, hence why it’s such a popular courier option.

They also seem to include more security features than they did a year or so ago, in terms of: tracking/gps location of parcel/delivery photos/parcel weight etc so theoretically the high amount of delivery problems that they used to have should have gone down....

Rather, parcels still end up being delivered in stupid locations, drivers still forge signatures, parcels still go missing etc. Just useless.
