Hermes have "returned" my parcel at my request?!

Crazyoldmaurice · 08/12/2019 19:42

I ordered 2 items that were going very cheap from studio on 28th November. Have been waiting all this time to have them delivered. Finally got an email this morning saying Hermes would deliver tonight from between 6-8pm. Just checked the tracking now only for it to say

"Update on your parcel. You've asked us to return your parcel to the sender - it's on the way back"

I did nothing of the sort! Now the items have sold out online so I reckon they'll be sent back to studio and I'll not be able to get them back as once they go back to warehouse I know things cant be traced once scanned in! Absolutely fuming as the items were a bargain. Has anyone else had hermes do this to them?

No, but mine records a different delivery time from the actual every single time. Often by serveral hours and usually at the time they originally said they would deliver. Maybe they are just running late?

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 08/12/2019 19:46

I had a rearranged delivery (or words to that effect) at my request.

I was at home the day they supposedly tried to deliver. I didn't rearrange any deliveries.

The parcel was delivered 2 days later.

pinkstripeycat · 08/12/2019 19:48

Ive had soaking we paper bag with a scarf thrown over my fence by Hermes and have heard lots of people having deliveries go to the wrong address

pinkstripeycat · 08/12/2019 19:49

Soaking wet

Crazyoldmaurice · 08/12/2019 19:49

Will cross my fingers they drop it off this week then. So fed up of hermes I dont know why any reputable company would ever use them!

Similar experience with a dress I ordered to wear at a wedding. It sold out too.

Willow4987 · 08/12/2019 19:55

Hermes are terrible. Always delivering to wrong addresses and not putting cards through the door, not showing up or just generally never delivering and losing items. I dread getting alerts saying things are coming via Hermes

OMGHermes · 08/12/2019 19:56

😂😂😂 I had the opposite problem

It's possible yours too will turn up in couple of days

IaIa3 · 08/12/2019 20:03

I'v been waiting for them to deliver since Wednesday, I contacted the company I bought from and apparently it's now going to be delivered by a different courier. Perhaps something similar with you. Hermes obviously haven't communicated any of this with me mind you.

FreedomfromPE · 08/12/2019 20:13

They are definitely the worst locally, ignoring all the "we tried to deliver" emails where they hadnt turned up as that's just par for course with these companies. A phone was declared delivered by them. When we disagreed they then managed to decide it was just "damaged" at the warehouse. I had a parcel land on me as it was thrown over our gate and today they were asked to leave it in a safe place but they decided instead to return it.

Jbck · 08/12/2019 20:48

Had similar as I had notification of a refund as courier had returned item. Wierd thing was, item was sitting in my house.

Hope you can get it back.

Delatron · 08/12/2019 21:07

They are shit in general but I think something has gone wrong for them this week. I ordered and paid for a next day delivery. It kept getting rescheduled and in the end the company switched to DHL (who they should have used in the first place).

I wish, when you buy something online there was a option to find out which delivery company was being used. I wouldn’t buy from them if I knew it was Hermes.

gruffalo28 · 08/12/2019 22:07

I agree with all of the above re Hermes. I have been trying to buy a Eufy for about 2 weeks now. Apparently they keep trying to deliver but no accessto the property whne I am clearly in all day and they never leave a card. I bought from eufy directly but the order is fulfilled by amazon who use Hermes. Apparently there is "nothing" eufy can do as its all amazon and hermes' fault. Eufy told me to get it delivered to a different address as perhaps a hermes courier ina different location would actually try top deliver it. Rubbish service from all three businesses, will not buy eufy again.

Delatron · 09/12/2019 11:44

I don’t know why companies associate themselves with Hermes. They are so crap.

DontCallMeShitley · 09/12/2019 12:14

It seems to depend on the area you are in. Previous address all couriers were crap, but especially DPD who instead of actually looking for the address delivered it to a cafe in the High St. and I only found out with a lot of detective work and getting someone to collect it before it went home with one of the staff. Had things thrown over the fence in the rain, I think it was Yodel.

Since moving here I have only had one problem in 7 years, with once again DPD, left a card for redelivery that tracked to an address in Scotland and showed as delivered. I am in London.

Yodel and Hermes are excellent here, Hermes man is great and the Yodel ones are usually the same people. I hate DPD.

However I won't use any of them for sending things as you never know if it will be one of the crappy ones at delivery point.

RingtheBells · 09/12/2019 12:22

I did get an email about something I had ordered that Hermes were running 4 days late, luckily I had received my parcel. It seemed like they couldn’t cope with Black Friday. This was last week

Equanimitas · 09/12/2019 12:41

Have you replied to the email or tried to phone them or the suppliers?

Stefoscope · 09/12/2019 12:49

I'd contact the retailer you bought the item from. It may be a case of the Hermes delivery person misclicking something and they are still intending to deliver to you. Or more likely fudging their figures so it looks like it hasn't just been sat around in their car for the past few days. I was waiting for two separate packages being delivered by Hermes last week and kept getting the notification your parcel is out for delivery then there being no sign of it. When it eventually showed up, I'd just got an e-mail from them saying we won't be able to deliver your package today then it arrived 10 minutes later!

KaptenKrusty · 09/12/2019 12:53

Hermes just will not deliver to my building - they just won't come and I don't know why!

Everytime they just keep sending back to depot and then trying again - but they never come!

They use private drivers so they can basically cherry pick what they want to deliver or not it seems

runoutofnamechanges · 09/12/2019 12:55

I had this happen with a phone (2 days before Christmas, it was a gift for DS). It said I had requested the parcel was sent back but it was actually the phone company who had flagged it up as fraud and recalled it (for no good reason).

ToTheRegimentIWishIWasThere · 09/12/2019 13:29

Our is usually good, same bloke, very reliable but I've had a nightmare this last week. Two parcels rescheduled every day since last Wednesday. I think they might actually be coming today because I got a text as well as an email.

Piffle11 · 09/12/2019 13:38

You might still get it. A couple of years ago I ordered a large item from John Lewis. Got the notification from Hermes regarding delivery, 2 hour window. Didn't come. Checked online, stated they had tried to deliver, but no answer. Not true, I was in. This actually happened 3 more times: we will deliver on X day between Y and Z … no sign, checked online … 'we tried to deliver, no answer'. It eventually turned up, and the reason it hadn't been delivered was that it was too big to go in the original courier's vehicle! So rather than adding a note to say it was delayed, they just kept saying they had tried to deliver it. All the while I'm getting fucked off at them lying. Ordered something from Uniqlo last month: wondered where it was, checked the tracking link and it said 'your parcel has been delayed, but we will have it moving within 24 hours'. Well, a week later, and several emails, it still hadn't arrived. They wouldn't tell me why as they would only deal with Uniqlo. Eventually Uniqlo emailed to say it had been damaged in transit and Hermes were returning it to them. Nearly 2 weeks after it had been ordered. Ironically my regular Hermes delivery courier is brilliant, but the system is rubbish.

Eastie77 · 09/12/2019 13:45

Not sure if this link from The Observer last Sunday works but the article describes the working day for your average Hermes delivery driver. It's not pretty (and I'm currently trying to track a lost parcel from Hermes so understand your frustration).

EpcotForever · 09/12/2019 13:48

I waited in yesterday for a Hermes parcel. 1pm I had a notification that it was left in my porch. I checked my porch, by the back door, looked at CCTV of my driveway.. no parcel. Then I had an update of a picture.. of my parcel in somebody else's porch. On the other side of the village! Useless. I thought Hermes used local delivery drivers so I'm perplexed at how someone local can get lost.

Thestinkycheeseman · 09/12/2019 13:51

I ordered something at the beginning of November last year and it arrived the 3rd week in January this year😀
