Mouse or rat? Found it in the garden, about the size of a hamster

Mice are tiny amd very cuteit looks like a mole maybe? Is it alive?

Definitely not a mole. They're black for starters. I'd say a young rat.

Field mice are minute, smaller than hamsters.
Rats don’t look as cute as your picture.

I’d say young rat.

The tail is the give away, rats tails are fleshier, mice are more shoe-lace like.
But with nothing for scale I’d say that’s a rat.

Spanish hamster?

Definitely not a mole. I've seen two up close, thanks to my cat. They're lovely and velvety and have funny little hands.

I'd guess this was a rat, OP, but really not 100% sure. The mice I've seen have been smaller/ more dainty than hamsters.

Do you have any other pictures? Those ears don't look rat like to me at all but it would be too big to be a mouse. Looks almost hamster like to me! Does it have a tail?

It's eyes were dried out , if you get what I mean so they were kinda sunk in

Colour wise and ear size it looks like a bit like a degu.

It’s a sweet looking little thing with those little paws.... Tragic picture
