Mouse or rat? Found it in the garden, about the size of a hamster

It does look like those @gonewiththerain but I'm in the uk

Could it be someone's pet chinchilla?

There was also another dead one so I wouldn't of thought they were pets

I wasn't familiar with them, but looking at photos it looks more like a degu indeed than a rat.
Too big for a mouse and doesn't look much like one.

Can you post a photo of the entire body with tail?

Yes I hesitated over the ears but the face is like a rat. I wondered if the ears look angular because of the angle of the photo. Are the ears at all rounded face on?

Ah- I think the furry tail definitely points to degu.

Furry tail is saying degu to me too. Could have been dumped as unwanted pets? Wouldn't last long in winter, poor thing.

I cAnt remember the ears, I just took one photo :( I remember they were pulled back as if it was pulling a sad face, but I assumed it was because it had died iyswim

Not sure about degu, aren't their tails bushier, ears round and noses more blunt?
