Am I missing something here? Meghan Markle

Sorry for the Meghan Markle thread and DM link, but I have found this really amusing today.

Story out today saying Harry and Meghan apparently aren't spending Xmas with the Queen this year. Lots of comments below blaming Meghan, saying she's isolating Harry from his family, saying the Queen must be really upset. Everyone at work was chatting about it today saying similar.

Am I missing something? I mean we don't even know if it's true. But even if it is, aren't they entitled to spend Xmas as they please? She has her own mother she may want to see.

Ok I get that it's the Queen and it's the usual tradition but is it really a big deal?

@ Itstheprinciple - I skim read that thread- some of it is not very nice, but mostly about her being a bit bland and having too long hair. A different ball park completely. Nothing considered delete-worthy for example.....

ElizaStrawberry · 15/11/2019 09:13

And it all comes down to the fact that they don't think she's good enough for Harry!.

I think a lot of it comes down to Piers Morgan who she (understandably) snubbed. Morgan is looking increasingly unhinged when he keeps on about her.

StoneofDestiny · 15/11/2019 09:23

Yes - Piers Morgan is certainly coming across unhinged

RuffleCrow · 15/11/2019 09:25

Each to their own. I'm sure her maj can suck it up, she's a big girl. Confused

SunsetBoulevard3 · 15/11/2019 09:29

I find it interesting that everyone seems to believe William had an affair when there is absolutely no evidence, just hearsay and speculation.
However any other speculation is jumped upon immediately as not being factual.

LaurieMarlow · 15/11/2019 09:30

No one is saying that Kate didn’t get criticism. But the scale and intensity with Meghan is totally different and it’s disingenuous to suggest otherwise. There’s a thread bashing her on here every week.

I agree Morgan has played a huge role in stirring up shit. What a grade A cunt.

LaurieMarlow · 15/11/2019 09:36

The expectation that those who marry in spent every Christmas at Sandringham til the end of time is deeply unfair anyway. Like their own families cease to matter.

I’m very glad Kate and Wills challenged that. The Middleton parents have done a good job of ensuring they don’t get elbowed out of the picture, which is great to see.

Personally, I don’t believe any of it.

RuffleCrow · 15/11/2019 09:43

Me to @Waterloosunsets. Let's be honest - how many of us are doing everything we can to try and keep away from dodgy uncles this xmas?

SunsetBoulevard3 · 15/11/2019 09:45

@Tiddler so they are not going to the US for six weeks then? I thought the Palace had released some sort of statement to say they were taking a break and going to the US for six weeks?

LaurieMarlow · 15/11/2019 09:47

My understanding is that they announced

A) they were going to the US for Thanksgiving
B) they were spending Christmas with Doria

And though it was never stated where they were spending Christmas, it was concluded that they’d be in the US for 6 weeks.

NemophilistRebel · 15/11/2019 09:48

The comments that are most popular on that article are vile.

They can spend Christmas how they like.

PortiaCastis · 15/11/2019 09:52

I think hoping someone's marriage is in trouble is vile and nobody knows the Duke and Duchess so do these hopers understand how bitchy they come across..
This place and Piers gobshite Morgan will not be happy until they've destroyed someone and her marriage.
Bloody awful behaviour and 70p per year tax clearly grants people a licence to be an arsehole, no wonder law suits are being issued I'd sue Morgan for all he's worth for his constant bitching, nasty little creep like others wouldn't like it done to him and I hope he gets what's coming to him that'll serve the kerb licking small minded fool right.

LaurieMarlow · 15/11/2019 09:57

Totally agree with Nemo and Portia. There are a lot of arseholes out there.

StaggeringOn · 15/11/2019 10:01

There are some really horrible comments about Beatrice at the Centrepoint event in daily mail Online Today. www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-7684721/Princess-Beatrice-selfie-Rita-Oras-mum-Centrepoints-charity-gala-London.html

The women in royal family have all been the targets of such vitriol by both tabloids and readership. And I do feel sorry for Beatrice. It must be so difficult if you are not conventionally beautiful like Kate and Meghan.

SamanthaBrique · 15/11/2019 10:02

On the contrary @SunsetBoulevard3, the same posters who believe everything the tabloids spew about Meghan are the ones who don't believe a word of the William stories.

Lot of speculative bollocks as usual haven't people got anything better to do than start rumours or are they still in the playground.

acornleaf · 15/11/2019 10:12

The80sweregreat I completely agree. Their business and when there's no much crap in our own lives to deal with, who really cares?

LaurieMarlow · 15/11/2019 10:18

Lot of speculative bollocks as usual haven't people got anything better to do than start rumours or are they still in the playground.

People are actively looking for things to get annoyed about with regards to MM. Which is telling.

PortiaCastis · 15/11/2019 10:34

What is so laughable about all the bitching is folk think they know what their target is thinking and are making up nasty stuff which they seem to believe.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 15/11/2019 10:40

If you're a celebrity money can buy you a degree of privacy . If you are Royal it won't

What, not even when they're heavily guarded wherever they go, work a mere 100-odd days a year (Harry) and have estates of 1000s of acres to retreat to whenever they choose?

It seems to me that some of the worst breaches of "privacy" result from their own choices ... you know, like the "no holds barred" interview we're about to be treated to from Andrew: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-50431163

derxa · 15/11/2019 10:53

I suspect M doesn't particularly like William and Kate and so a gap has opened up between the two couples. Yes
