Lighthearted but I’m curious. Yesterday at church we had Morning service, then a parade through town to the memorial for wreath laying then back to church for a service.
Afterwards we were clearing up and I said to a couple of friends that I was off home for a bath before Evensong. Best mate said she’d join me (private joke as don’t actually share the same bath!) but the other woman was horrified. Apparently you should only have a bath in the evening and she had never heard of anyone having a bath in the afternoon. A quick opinion poll of others seemed to suggest that this is a popular opinion. I work from home so will often have a bath in the day as it frees up the evening for work, getting meals, child’s homework etc
Is it really that odd?

Not odd in my book. I like one after I've been gardening.

DrDreReturns · 11/11/2019 08:15

Weird. I have a bath as a treat on Saturday afternoons. For the rest of the week its showers!

Sparklingbrook · 11/11/2019 08:15

I always have a bath in the evening as I like to put my pyjamas on after and not get dressed again. Lying in a bath makes my make up melt and I would have to do my hair again if I had one in the day.Blush

That said I just prefer a shower morning and evening and very rarely have a bath anyway.

ShatnersWig · 11/11/2019 08:16

Sunday night before bed (with fresh bedding).

Shodan · 11/11/2019 08:16

I have a bath whenever I fancy it and there's time Grin

I love baths.

Shelby30 · 11/11/2019 08:17

These days only at the wkend and usually in the morning or early afternoon. I've got a child to look after so it needs to be quick shower 😕 Baths are for when husband is home to keep an eye on her.

That's a strange comment. When I used to have baths all the time it was mainly evening but only coz I was working all day. At wkends it wld be morning, afternoon or evening whenever I felt like it.

WaterSheep · 11/11/2019 08:17

I only really have time for a bath at the weekend. Weekdays are too busy. By the time the bath had filled up I could have had a shower, got dressed and dried my hair. Is suspect those you polled are similar.

Since you have more time during the day, it makes sense to have one when you're not as busy.

Cooper88 · 11/11/2019 08:18

My DH will have a bath in the day time as he is the SAHP so it frees up the evening for homework, us spending time together. I work as a carer and do spilt shifts quite often so I will quite often come home and have a shower before changing into a fresh uniform then showers after work (not excessive if you do my job you can understand why I do this). If I'm not at work then I either shower in the morning or evening but baths are in the evening every 6 weeks or so when I fancy a pamper tbh.

Grannybags · 11/11/2019 08:21

The hair and make up thing is a bit of a consideration if I’ve got a meeting or something in the evening but I can get away with the basics for Evensong.

I much prefer showers, but last time I had a bath it was late morning. I had been working hard outdoors, digging a hole and had had to resort to using a pickaxe as the ground was so hard. The bath helped to alleviate the onset of aches and pains.

hopeishere · 11/11/2019 08:25

I have a bath every night! And a shower in the morning. A daytime bath is very decadent!

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 11/11/2019 08:29

I sometimes finish work at 2 or 3pm and come home and have a bath. I often come home and feel like I can’t get warm and it works every time for that.

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 11/11/2019 08:33

Baths are shit. Showers are where it's at!

I always shower in the morning. Helps wake me up and relieve any aches and pains from the night's sleep.

Firefliess · 11/11/2019 08:36

I go for one in the afternoon if I'm tired or dirty, or to snatch the chance of lots of hot water, as our teenagers use it all up in the mornings and evenings.

AmIThough · 11/11/2019 08:39

I hate baths and the only time I've had one in the last 3 years was when I was in slow labour because it helped soothe my contractions Grin

I think baths should be reserved for a Sunday evening though and I have no idea why.

Actionhasmagic · 11/11/2019 08:40

Morning, afternoon or evening. Its a tub of water what’s her problem

crochetmonkey74 · 11/11/2019 08:42

I love baths and have one every morning if I have time, but nothing nicer than a rainy afternoon bath and into pyjamas by teatime- that is heavenly!

HeyNotInMyName · 11/11/2019 08:48

I’m always Confused by those people who have such strong rules about what to do when.
Surely, you just do things when it works best for YOU rather than when you ought to??

Grannybags · 11/11/2019 08:52

I think she was just surprised - we are seen as the ‘youngsters’ in church although we are 50ish! Most of the other ladies are 80+ so it was more a case of ‘Listen to what these modern girls do!’

Every week day morning at 6.50 am without fail. Takes 10 mins.

PineappleDanish · 11/11/2019 08:55

Never. I haven't had a bath in about 15 years. Showers all the way.

Shoxfordian · 11/11/2019 08:55

Have a bath whenever you want to op!

AntiHop · 11/11/2019 08:56

Never as I hate baths.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 11/11/2019 09:05

I have one in the morning as I work in the pm

Singlenotsingle · 11/11/2019 09:08

I have a bath whenever I feel like it. Maybe in the morning, maybe afternoon or evening? I didn't realise there was a law about it!
