Lighthearted but I’m curious. Yesterday at church we had Morning service, then a parade through town to the memorial for wreath laying then back to church for a service.
Afterwards we were clearing up and I said to a couple of friends that I was off home for a bath before Evensong. Best mate said she’d join me (private joke as don’t actually share the same bath!) but the other woman was horrified. Apparently you should only have a bath in the evening and she had never heard of anyone having a bath in the afternoon. A quick opinion poll of others seemed to suggest that this is a popular opinion. I work from home so will often have a bath in the day as it frees up the evening for work, getting meals, child’s homework etc
Is it really that odd?

Usually shower quickly in the morning (literally 2-3 minutes) then long bath for pleasure usually at night (30mins). I've been known to have my enjoyable bath at any time of day though, as I do my skin care and teeth separately anyway

Catapillarsruletheworld · 11/11/2019 18:04

In the week if I have a bath it’ll be the evening as I’m at work all day. Today though I had a day off to myself and I had a bath in the afternoon. It was lovely.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 11/11/2019 18:04

Bath at night, always. I don't think I've ever had one in the day.

DS1 hates baths and only ever has them when he's been on Scout camp. DS2 would live in the bath and often asks for one before school. It feels odd but I have no idea why.

Ragwort · 11/11/2019 18:05

I have a bath most evenings before I go to bed, I sometimes have one earlier but doubt I would have one if I was going out again.

viccat · 11/11/2019 18:07

I very rarely have a bath but if I do, later in the day so that I can then put pyjamas on after and relax. I also work from home and sometimes have a shower in the afternoon and then do more work after so I do understand why you'd have an earlier bath.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 11/11/2019 18:08

Haven't had a bath for years - don't like the feeling of being immersed in water and being all wrinkly if I stay in too long! Showers are quick and convenient.

Icanflyhigh · 11/11/2019 18:23

Most days, usually mid afternoon when kids are at school and DH at work! I work from home so no problem with that!

Dollymixture22 · 11/11/2019 18:28

I had a bath on Saturday morning after a parkrun in the freezing rain.

It was lovely.

firesong · 11/11/2019 18:30

Whenever I'm free and want to have one. Morning, afternoon, evening. Whatever.

Derbee · 11/11/2019 18:31

Last bath was in 2011. But I think of a bath as an evening thing, with a glass of wine

OneForTheRoadThen · 11/11/2019 18:34

There's an Agatha Christie book where Poirot solves a case because the murderer had a bath in the afternoon ( which was apparently unheard of!) so I'm guessing it is a very old fashioned and upper class idea!

Shooturlocalmethdealer · 11/11/2019 18:35

Just had a shower myself and its after lunch. I washed my two small pets. Take a bath when you feel like it.

AgeLikeWine · 11/11/2019 18:37

I don’t have baths, but I do shower most mornings.

Ithinkwerealonenowtiffany · 11/11/2019 18:48

I feel really odd if i have a bath before 7pm. It feels unnatural to me. I know people who have one before going to work in the morning, but that it too weird. Bath for me is relax, PJ and bed.

HavelockVetinari · 11/11/2019 18:53

I generally only have a bath with DS (2 yo) - he's not keen on showers. So either early evening or first thing in the morning (the latter if he's wet the bed).

Very occasionally I'll have one in winter after a run or cycle in the cold.

housebuyingistheworst · 11/11/2019 18:54

The real question is - why on earth do you care if it's odd?

nethunsinthatway · 11/11/2019 19:00

For all those “typing from the bath”... do you use a protective cover or do you just trust yourself not to get your phone/iPad wet?

TheDarkPassenger · 11/11/2019 19:05

I see baths as a switch turning me off, I can’t be trusted to do anything after a bath apart from lay in bed

bellinisurge · 11/11/2019 19:07

Not odd but I like one before I go to bed as part of a winding down thing. Hot bath, jammies, bed.

CalleighDoodle · 11/11/2019 19:09

My last bath was in 2016, after a camping trip to a site with no facilities. Before that it was 2012, after giving birth.

Taswama · 11/11/2019 19:16

I have a bath Sunday to Thursday nights just before bed. Very occasional at the weekend, eg like a pp after a run or cycle where I have got cold.

maddiemookins16mum · 11/11/2019 19:19

I only have baths at the weekends, most commonly late Sunday morning after I’ve popped the dinner in the oven.

UrbanMage · 11/11/2019 19:24

I'm having one right now Grin
I love a bath. Helps with my Raynaud's at this time of year. I only have them in the evening though as they are for relaxing. Showers are for a morning wash or constant relief in summer.

LucaFritz · 11/11/2019 19:26

A bath is a treat anytime of the day some people have them in thr evening as it makes them sleepy so maybe she thought it would make you tired

snowball28 · 11/11/2019 19:28

I have no time for a bath in the evening cause of work and three kids! But I often have 1/2 a week in the kids nap time (if they go down that is) I love a bath and will have one whenever I can! Not weird for me to have one in the day
