Lighthearted but I’m curious. Yesterday at church we had Morning service, then a parade through town to the memorial for wreath laying then back to church for a service.
Afterwards we were clearing up and I said to a couple of friends that I was off home for a bath before Evensong. Best mate said she’d join me (private joke as don’t actually share the same bath!) but the other woman was horrified. Apparently you should only have a bath in the evening and she had never heard of anyone having a bath in the afternoon. A quick opinion poll of others seemed to suggest that this is a popular opinion. I work from home so will often have a bath in the day as it frees up the evening for work, getting meals, child’s homework etc
Is it really that odd?

Generally in the evening on week days as I am at work all day but on weekends and holidays I have no issue with random baths.

CalamityJune · 11/11/2019 19:47

Usually evening but I used to like a bath in the afternoon followed by a nap before getting ready to go out on the town on a Saturday night.

Swer987 · 11/11/2019 20:22

I don’t have a shower in my home so my only option is a bath.

I bath after work, usually straight away when I get home. On the weekends I’ll have an early afternoon bath if I’m not out, or occasionally in the morning.

CherryPavlova · 11/11/2019 20:30

When I’m in a hurry, I shower but there are definitely times when a bath is the answer. That’s if I’ve aches and pains, if I’ve got really cold and wet, if I need to distress or want some undisturbed thinking time or if I fancy indulging myself. The time is entirely irrelevant.

moominmammy · 11/11/2019 21:00

I don't like showers, so I always have a bath in the morning. I couldn't leave the house dirty. There is no such luxury as an unecessary afternoon bath though!

BestIsWest · 11/11/2019 21:04

Having a bath in the daytime is pure luxury and the stuff of my dreams.

I have one or two a week, usually on cold evenings. I can’t remember the last time I had one in the day.

IndieTara · 11/11/2019 21:16

I never have a bath. I can't get in or out

PuppyMonkey · 11/11/2019 21:17

I have a lovely bath but it’s not actually plumbed in, I just like how it looks.Grin

One day we might get round to plumbing it in, who knows? I find the idea of a bath much more appealing than the reality tbh. I usually get in and then want to get out within a few minutes as it’s too hot and, well, boring really.

Anyway OP I have no strong views on what time YOU have a bath so that’s the main thing. Crack on.Grin

My shower broke last winter and I had to have daily baths until it was fixed (about 2 -3 weeks). It was absolutely lovely and I contemplated not putting in a new shower at all but it did take more time in the mornings. Love an afternoon bath, feels very luxurious just soaking away the day.

EC22 · 11/11/2019 21:26

Whenever I want one.

Fantababy · 11/11/2019 21:27

My last bath was when I was in labour. I had 2 and neither of them helped. Can't imagine when I'll have another.

Thestrangestthing · 11/11/2019 21:28

At night usually, but I had a very rare day off during the week a while ago, and my own kids were at school, so I had a bath in the afternoon. It was nice.

StCharlotte · 11/11/2019 21:47

Quick bath in the morning on a weekday. Winter weekends it's usually late afternoon with a book or magazine. Yesterday (Sunday) I had one before going to the Remembrance Parade - shocking!

wheresmyhairytoe · 11/11/2019 21:51

We don't have a shower so I have a bath every morning. Quick one mind you.
I love my weekend baths as I can soak for a while and not rush.

StrawberrySquash · 11/11/2019 22:26

I have a bath in the day if I've finished exercise and have sore muscles. I do like5a pre bed, into pyjamas bath too though.

CandyflossKid · 11/11/2019 22:44

I havent had a bath in years- showers all the way!
I remember when I worked in a school 20 years ago (before I had kids), one of the mums was late picking her child up - she was very apologetic and said she had spent to long in the bath!
I remember thinking how utterly indulgent it would be to have a bath in the afternoon and vowed that one day I would.......... I still havent though!

crazymumma10 · 11/11/2019 22:47

Mostly at night but I have had baths during the day on occasion too. I don't think it's weird.

silencebeforethebleeps · 11/11/2019 22:49

I only have a bath when I'm staying at a fancy hotel. It's too much work at home. First you have to clean the bath...then you have to fill it...then you're in it wondering what on earth you're supposed to do to make the most of the time...then the water gets cold, or you get a sore back, or you get bored, and you have to hoist yourself out again...then you have to take a shower anyway to rinse off the bath water...then you have to clean the bath again. Nah.

isitxmasyet · 11/11/2019 22:49

Shower in morning unless going straight to gym or for a run
Shower again later if have exercised lunchtime
Bath in evening before bed

Hohofortherobbers · 11/11/2019 22:52

I had one with the dc yesterday afternoon, we didn't even get dressed after as we weren't going to evensong, Pjs at 5pm Shock

BluebellCockleshell123 · 11/11/2019 22:53

I rarely have a bath to get clean - i only have them to relax really!

If I'm going out for dinner or to a party, I love having a glass of fizz & a soak in a bath before getting ready.

Lillygolightly · 11/11/2019 23:55

Ooh I used to love a nice long soak in the tub but since my kids came along (15 years ago) I can not lie and relax in the bath anymore. I’ve tried I really have, lovely bubbles, candle, music etc but after 10 mins I’m bored and just want to get on with it.

My shower gets the most use, quick and efficient and so much easier to wash and rinse my long hair.

JenniferM1989 · 12/11/2019 00:05

I get terrible muscle aches and spasms so a bath is great for me (with some radox or sainsburys muscle soak). I tend to have one on a Sunday afternoon if I'm not doing anything later on then put my joggers and a top on afterwards. I sometimes even put a face mask on afterwards! I may reconsider now that afternoon baths are frowned upon... NOT 😁

PeriComoToes · 12/11/2019 00:15

Morning, noon and night in the winter. Never in the summer.

Namechangeforthegamechange · 12/11/2019 00:21

I’ll often have one before evening shift and then a long hot soak after work, can be 2am but I can’t get to bed without one. Some weekends we laze about and then have a bath early afternoon and go out and about. My daughter loves a long soak on a Saturday morning from about 10am. If you want a bath have a bath!
