Can someone help me here?
I don't have enough medical knowledge to be pushy on this.

DP got severe toothache a few days ago, hasn't been able to sleep. It's been pretty bad.
Now all of a sudden about 10 minutes ago he's started throwing up blood. He's got pains in his neck and head that worsen when he lies down.

What's the best course of action? None of this sounds right to me yet he's adamant he doesn't need to see a doctor etc Angry

Call 111, they will advise best course of action. I'm guessing it'll be A and E.

Rhayader · 09/11/2019 07:10

A&E, but 111 if he’s unconvinced

Celebelly · 09/11/2019 07:11

A&E! Could be an infection that's worsening/moving.

Alpacamabags · 09/11/2019 07:12

Call 999 or if able taxi to a&e

GenevaMaybe · 09/11/2019 07:12

A&E. You do NOT want him to end up with sepsis

user275 · 09/11/2019 07:12

Thanks everyone.

He's unconvinced still and said he'll ring if it happens again Angry
Am I able to call myself for advice?

I'd head to A&E - tooth infection can lead to other more serious health complications. Not to scare you but just to support your case to your DP.

EleanorReally · 09/11/2019 07:12

emergency dentist?

Greywalls12 · 09/11/2019 07:13

A&e if vomiting blood

Ginfordinner · 09/11/2019 07:13

He MUST seek medical help NOW

MotherofPearl · 09/11/2019 07:13

Yes you can ring 111 for advice on someone else's behalf.

CAG12 · 09/11/2019 07:14

Im an A+E nurse! Throwing up blood means theres been a bleed somewhere. It needs checking out. Go to A+E.

Ginfordinner · 09/11/2019 07:14

Why are some people so stupid about their health? Just ring 111

Ohnoherewego62 · 09/11/2019 07:21

I'd be concerned about turning septic

RandomWok · 09/11/2019 07:24

If he won't go to a and e I'd ring 111 and ask their advice. He can't argue with a professional.

DeathMetalMum · 09/11/2019 07:25

A&E now. Dp's mum ended up in intensive care in a major hospital for weeks following complications from a tooth abscess. She's lucky to still be here.

SavageBeauty73 · 09/11/2019 07:28

He needs urgent medical attention!

I was hospitalised for my tooth abscess

user275 · 09/11/2019 08:21

Thanks everyone, STILL waiting on a call back from 111 after almost an hour.

DP has gone to sleep still convinced it'll all be fine Confused

They've said just ring emergency dentist?
Does this seem right in this instance?

No, not emergency dentist. My dad had a dental abscess so painful he was writing about and roaring in pain. There was nothing the dentist could do and A&E tried to say they couldn’t either, he was sent between the two for days. He ended up on ward on a drip for a week shortly after. You need to be VERY pushy.

EleanorReally · 09/11/2019 08:40

no harm in trying emergency dentist op

slipperywhensparticus · 09/11/2019 08:41

You did say he had thrown up blood?

DeathMetalMum · 09/11/2019 08:41

www.nhs.uk/conditions/vomiting-blood/

The vomiting blood needs to be seen by a doctor.

EleanorReally · 09/11/2019 08:43

is it two separate issues op?

EleanorReally · 09/11/2019 08:43

has he been taking a lot of ibuprofen for the pain?
