General Election Prediction Thread

Apologies if this exists elsewhere but I looked and couldn’t see one

I thought it would be interesting to have a prediction thread

Based on what you think will happen, not necessarily what you’d like to happen

No chat, just to make it easier to read

Hung parliament as Labour lose votes to both Brexit Party and Lib Dem's. Torres lose votes to Brexit party and no-one has a majority.

Both sides try to find coalition partners but can't do it. Have another election as a result. Parliament agreed on a second Brexit vote to solve the impasse.

lljkk · 03/11/2019 19:18

Hung parliament and no answers

TidyDancer · 03/11/2019 19:28

I think hung parliament but beyond that I don't know.

Saddler · 03/11/2019 19:31

Conservative majority and loads of people on here crying

Justanotherlurker · 03/11/2019 19:35

Tory slim majority.

Labour losing but social media swamped with how they actually won so Corbyn doesn't have to stand down.

LD disappointing but will turn a few seats

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 03/11/2019 19:35

I am not sure LibDems will do so well

The stance on revoking article 50 would have to go through parliament and there is not a chance that will ever happen

Tories and Labour only need to remind voters how often they have flip flopped, supported Tories in the harshest of cuts

Bearbehind · 03/11/2019 19:39

The stance on revoking article 50 would have to go through parliament and there is not a chance that will ever happen

But if if ever got to that then it would be because they had a majority so it would pass

I agree it won’t happen but because they won’t get the majority, not because Revoke couldn’t subsequently happen

But if if ever got to that then it would be because they had a majority so it would pass

That's not how it would play out, it would in an idealistic world but most political analysts say i would cause even deep divisions.

It's a moot point anyway, the country is still ~50/50 on leave remain and with boundaries and tribal voters they will never get a majority.

I say this as a Remainer

Justanotherlurker · 03/11/2019 19:47

even deep divisions.

Even more deeper divisions.

Justanotherlurker · 03/11/2019 19:50

Conservative majority and loads of people on here crying

No it will be the well known meme of their 6 yr old DC crying.

This place forum was a sight to behold in 2010,15,17.

At least this GE there is a bit more open not voting labour comments, momentum bots haven't took hold yet as they haven't quite had the script given to them yet.

Epicwaffle · 03/11/2019 19:50

Hung parliament.

Lib Dem big gains
SNP big gains
Labour significant losses.
Brexit party gain a few seats.

Personally I hope this is wrong, as the last thing any of us need is another hung parliament/minority government. We need a decisive forward going position imo.

Justanotherlurker · 03/11/2019 19:54

SNP big gains

SNP can't really gain any more than what they have.

SNP is losing a lot of support in Scotland as it is because of domestic issues that they have control over. They will still win, but big gains considering where they are now is hyperbole.

Paintedmaypole · 03/11/2019 20:01

SNP sweep up nearly all of Scotland. Hung parliament with a scrabble to form coalitions.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 03/11/2019 20:01

Yes sorry wasn’t worded very well well we all know that just won’t happen

It’s an empty promise they would do better backing a second referendum- pointless promise to voters so I feel will backfire when voters think more about the possibility of this happening- good news for Labour

Epicwaffle · 03/11/2019 20:04

“SNP can't really gain any more than what they have.”

Shit prediction on my part then... 😂

It wasn’t a calculated analysis based on extrapolation of multiple polls and stats. just. Just a guesstimate personal prediction based on the OP and gut feeling. You can calm down now. No Hyperbole to see here! well, actually... 🤔😂

TheABC · 03/11/2019 20:05

Hung Parliament with more Independent MPs than usual.

If Johnson keeps it together, a slim Tory majority, but they will struggle to pass legislation. The Tories are going to be squeezed on both sides by the Lib Dems and Brexit Party.

If he blunders off-script or something truly neferious comes out before polling day, a Labour coalition of some kind.

I can guarantee that I will be drinking, whatever the result.

Gwiwer · 03/11/2019 20:10

Narrow Tory majority. Ew.

Vibey · 03/11/2019 20:11

Hung parliament. I really want Labour to win, but unfortunately I think the Cons will will make up a coalition with the Brexit party. I hate the Lib Dem’s ever since they sold themselves down the road and made a coalition with the Cons. I would never vote for them again.

lljkk · 03/11/2019 20:13

A poll option would be nice...

thru Gwiwer's post, MNers are predicting:

Hung: 16
Tory majority of some kind (11), of which only 2 said Big Majority
Labour majority: 1
Don't know!! 2

Dogsaresomucheasier · 03/11/2019 20:13

Hung parliament, with Brexit party gaining a couple and Lib Dem gaining a lot. Don’t know if I dare hope it will go the way I want it to.

HelenaDove · 03/11/2019 20:15

Conservative majority and loads more people dying.

noblegiraffe · 03/11/2019 20:16

I think the Cons will will make up a coalition with the Brexit party.

Why think that the Brexit Party will win any seats? UKIP only managed one. Even Farage has decided not to bother standing for them.

The Tories are the Brexit Party now.

Venger · 03/11/2019 20:22

If he blunders off-script or something truly neferious comes out before polling day, a Labour coalition of some kind.

Remember when Gordon Brown called that women a bigot because he didn't realise his mic was still on? I can quite see Johnson having a similar sort of moment.

Hes good at spouting soundbites and giving it plenty of yappity-yap in interviews but he's shit at face to face stuff with actual groups of people and he gets over-excited then makes a knob of himself. Look at the Olympics when he got stuck on the zip wire. Dickhead. I hope he is sent out on lots of meet and greets where he can have plenty of time with the general public and plenty of opportunities to show himself up as the idiot that he is.

noblegiraffe · 03/11/2019 20:26

Things pending for Johnson:

Jennifer Acuri - misuse of public funds
Vote Leave criminal charges - proof he knew about overspending handed to Crown Prosecution Service
Cummings - concerns about Russian links

They could affect his campaign.

MesmorisedByTheLights · 03/11/2019 20:37

Brexit party will take some of the leave votes, but not sure if that will benefit Labour or Tory.
Brexit party might get 1-2 MPs in the SE.
Tory wipeout in Scotland.
SV small Tory majority and no further forward.
