CoatZilla and the Barbour Boy- The Second Saga

LanaKaneIsWeirdedOut · 29/10/2019 11:09

Hey everyone!

Bloody hell, in all my years of MNing I've never had a response like this, I was really helped by loads of your replies, and loads made me giggle (Roast Potatoes!!) and loads made good points.

I'm sorry I can't reply to specific posts but seriously there's so many.

Wine Brew Cake or Gin for everyone who replied and is sticking with me.

So on to the update.....

CoatZilla, henceforth to be known as CZ, text again last night....

Here it is word for word.
mate, your obviously upset and that was never my intention. I'm sorry that we argued, I honestly didn't see the conversation going that way when I brought it up. I think it's better we let the dust settle for tonight in honesty. Probably best to have a calm conversation tomorrow evening?

My reply....
Yeah tomorrow evening much better I think

And she didn't come back last night (good!)

So she's made a mistake anyway......cos Dad was actually out last night ! So we'll all be sitting there when she comes back.

My plan is, to write a list of bullet points for tonight of things she definitely said, so I can't forget and she can't back out of it or claim she didn't say it (I also remembered another bit in the fucking row- where she went "Oh, so a fucking ghost did it?" in that tone of voice- fucking horrible)

Also to sit calmly and let her explain to my lovely Dad and DP that she thinks they might have maliciously cut her coat.

Then see what she says!

TBH unless she fucking grovels on her knees (not likely after that fucking last text- minimization or what??) I'm going to be asking her to pack her stuff.

I'm not being "spurred on by hysterical posters"

I have read all the replies, some have opened my eyes, some have been excusing, some have told me not to rock the friendship boat....overall I have taken a middle(ish) ground.....but tbh it's clear she is
a) weird/horrible enough to think that of her oldest friend and her family
b) fucking vicious in a row
c) now backtracking massively

So....thoughts???

And again for the troll hunters in the back......my username currently is always "LanaKanesomething", and I've had various other names going back years.....so bloody well report me and see what MN has to say, yeah?

This level of contempt should be a banning offence Sad

sonjadog · 30/10/2019 22:09

Why wouldn't the OP be okay? What do you think her friend is likely to have done to her that she wouldn't be okay??

BumbleBeee69 · 30/10/2019 22:10

darn.. no update Shock

Preparingfor · 30/10/2019 22:14

Sonja if there's been any irrevocable breakdown of their long friendship, don't you imagine the OP might just be more than a bit upset?

This is the second thread I have been following that has left me hanging. The first one was when the OP had the CF not giving her the lunch money prior to ordering food.
Oh, just to get some closure!

Fanciful. We all know that Lana has been buried in the Barbour coat underneath the patio.

Preparingfor · 30/10/2019 22:45

managin 😆

TheBigFatMermaid · 30/10/2019 22:48

SaGa, did that not come to a conclusion either?.

Sotoes · 30/10/2019 23:05

OP, I can't think of any reason, barring tragedy, why you can't just post a short statement telling us that you will not be updating further.

Then we can all go to bed and stop checking.

Please.

Snog · 30/10/2019 23:05

Lowbrow has brought things to an extremely satisfying conclusion.

KTheGrey · 30/10/2019 23:09

Yes, @sotoes, you have it. But I intend to accept @Lowbrow's explanation, and thus I can let it go. Goodnight compulsive checkers everywhere Grin

fazakerleyjackie · 30/10/2019 23:26

Lowbrow
Thank you, I'm no longer hanging by a thread.Flowers

SchadenfiendeUnmortified · 30/10/2019 23:36

We all know that Lana has been buried in the Barbour coat underneath the patio.

FFS!!!!!

Keep your voice down . . . .

SchadenfiendeUnmortified · 30/10/2019 23:38

Anyway - it wasn't Lana under the patio.

Lana is on a fast boat to the Isle of Wight (no extradition from the Land of the Red Squirrel!).

It's Barbourella who is under the patio mysteriously unavailable.

Grandmi · 30/10/2019 23:56

Saga...I feel your pain !! We never heard the outcome of the lunchtime drama 😳😀

ScreamedAtTheMichelangelo · 31/10/2019 00:22

Saw this coming I’m afraid. OP’s posts had that cloying need-the-drama tone. Now there isn’t any, we won’t be getting an update I don’t think.

TyneTeas · 31/10/2019 00:38

Is it like Cluedo?

Lana under the patio with a snipped Barbour jacket?

Llioed · 31/10/2019 00:58

The lunchtime saga thread - the CF owed £35 in total, took the day off on the Monday but paid £11 on that Monday, according to OP which was payment for previous month. CF came to work on the Tuesday, went to HR, came out all nicey nicey and paid remaining £26 to the OP via online banking.
I don’t know if OP continued lunch club that following Friday onwards - if that’s what you mean? OP never came back to confirm if lunch club resumed that upcoming Friday.

Llioed · 31/10/2019 01:00

Please don’t ask me any further questions about lunchtime saga - I don’t want to de-rail this Barbour coat thread. I hope the OP of THIS thread is ok.

OooErMissus · 31/10/2019 01:13

She's just fine.

If there was ANYTHING even vaguely juicy to report, she'd be on here like a flash.

Look at the way she ended the first thread - with the promise of a doozy of an update. And all it was was, fiend texting that she wasn't coming home that night. Confused

@ScreamedAtTheMichelangelo is bang on the money.

EarringsandLipstick · 31/10/2019 04:14

OP is watching this thread fill up with everyone (and now, me too! I'd refrained on both threads thus far😂) and getting a great kick out of it. The whole thing was utter drama - an initial issue, sure, but blown far out of proportion.

EarringsandLipstick · 31/10/2019 04:15

I missed a bit, meant:

...with everyone commenting & speculating

CanuckBC · 31/10/2019 05:15

Just finished reading both threads. Wow. This so-called friend is just, wow! Too not have offered to get a full shop in when you were meal planning for £30 when she eats with you! I am just appalled at that. That is the bare minimum she should have done at that point. You are broker then broke and are helping finance her ie not having her pay full rent, help pay for gas, electric and other basic household items.

She is taking this piss by buying expensive items and going out with mutual friends on expensive nights out without invites.

The coat saga is the straw that broke the camels back and has made you see the light. The eating of your last roasties ( what exactly are these?!? Just roasted potatoes?) when she knows you need them for dinner the next day, the whole meal planning on your last dimes, low rent etc.

If she had just asked if you knew anything about it, still not great but significantly different to accusing your family and yourself to deliberately causing damage. Especially your son with him directly present. That crosses such a line.

I hope things went ok tonight. I don’t see how they could…
