AIBU Weird Phobias

What weird phobias do you have?
Mine is loose hairs touching me. If I have a hair down my top it drives me insane and I know straight away when there is one or if one touches me in the bath, I have to fish it out straight away. Even a stray hair attached to clothing and sometimes I have to physically stop myself from pulling them off other random people's clothing as that would probably be seen as beyond weird!!!! I hate them.I have long hair but they don't bother me while their still attached to my head! Just loose, stray ones attacking me. DH says I'm very weird. That is my only strange, compulsive thing though. What's yours?

Wet cutlery blergh. I went to a friends house and she washed cutlery as we sat down to eat and handed me a wet fork. I don’t know why but it put me right off.

SparklyMagpie · 13/10/2019 12:24

Quiche and electricity ( pylons, static shocks etc)

BadTimesAtTheElRoyale · 13/10/2019 12:25

Foxes in clothes. Especially those countrified ones in tweed waistcoats. Can't even watch those Foxy Bingo adverts.

yawnhedehihi · 13/10/2019 12:29

The sound of polystyrene.

Mrsjayy · 13/10/2019 12:33

Fungi gives me the heebie geebies especuially if they are on trees I eat mushrooms which is contradictary i know!

DarlingNikita · 13/10/2019 12:37

That green stuff florists use

Those padded envelopes with matted fluff inside. Rip one open and it looks like you've killed a chicken, as a colleague of mine once said. I feel like all that matted stuff must be dirty and hoaching with bugs and things. Give me a nice clean bubble-wrap Jiffy any day!

Those multicoloured blocks for yoga etc that are made of squidged-together random foams. Similarly to the envelopes, I think they look dirty and matted and horrid. Particularly loathsome is when a corner of one has broken off and you can see them sort of breaking apart

Piggywawa · 13/10/2019 12:44

Skin coloured plasters.
I hate them with a passion, they make me feel goosey just thinking about them.

SmallAndHumble · 13/10/2019 12:46

The sound of butter being scraped on toast - even typing this has given me the heebie-jeebies
Strangely, I am fine with nails on a chalk board!

Campervanlife4me · 13/10/2019 12:46

darling it's that green oasis stuff. It's horrible when its wet.
Another one of mine is wool, in teeth. Like a woolly jumper. Or when I was a child and I knitted something, I tried to bite the wool instead of cutting it. Never did that again!!!!

@yawnhedehihi I hate polystyrene too, it makes me feel physically sick, my whole body comes out in goosebumps if I touch or hear it, I hate the stuff with a passion, even thinking about it is enough to make me shudder!

easyandy101 · 13/10/2019 12:48

Wet cutlery blergh.

This

It's revolting

CravingCheese · 13/10/2019 12:49

Falling / jumping /0heights. I sometimes get panicky just thinking about past antics where I had a super high likelihood of falling (to my death).

I also don't trust railings so seeing my siblings or my husband leaning on any of them nearly makes me physically ill.

Elevators and plains are perfectly fine btw.

CravingCheese · 13/10/2019 12:50

But I'm not sure if it's a weird phobia....

danmthatonestakentryanotheer · 13/10/2019 12:52

Dry cotton wool...I've got goosebumps just typing the words...and pigs, freaky looking buggers.

Butttons · 13/10/2019 12:54

Someone else's hair touching me like on the bus or tube. Yuk

DarlingNikita · 13/10/2019 12:55

that green oasis stuff. That's the name!
I think it's cringey when it's dry too, in a different way. Sandpapery
Oddly, I don't mind actual sandpaper at all Confused

GinasGirl · 13/10/2019 12:57

Used birthday cake candles. Used matches, I find them really distressing!! The wet cutlery thing is now my new one shudder

stopwining · 13/10/2019 13:03

Empty swimming pools I am petrified.

It used to be only the pools that are empty of water that did me, but now this has extended to swimming pools filled with water and empty of people - awful

Water parks when closed - has anyone seen the rapids at centre parcs at night when they're turned off? Envy

Yuk

No13 · 13/10/2019 13:05

darlingnikita

I work in the place that makes the foam

DarlingNikita · 13/10/2019 13:19

No13, Shock Shock Shock
How on earth do you do it?!?!

cornishmama93 · 13/10/2019 13:20

Wet loose hairs Confused
Dry ones I'm ok with but wet ones give me the heeby jeebies

Myshitisreal · 13/10/2019 13:21

The freezer 🤯 the crunching and the ice noises make me cringe/shudder

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/10/2019 13:22

Someone breathing on me. I know dh has to breathe in bed, but either he needs to face away from me, or I have to wrap myself up in the duvet.

jiskoot · 13/10/2019 13:23

Expanses of fabric, incl hot air balloons.

Bad childhood memories of a school activity/game where the kids hold a massive piece of fabric and you take it in turns to run underneath it...think I must have got stuck under it on my turn...even hate changing my duvet cover to this day.

KaliOMalley · 13/10/2019 15:52

This could out me but my phobias are coconut (smell mostly but also just the knowledge of it or the possibility of it in meals, plus actually seeing the white part), vomit (mine or anyone else's and as an EY teacher it's a bit of a problem!) and things with wings, esp things that dive bomb at your head, like big legs.
