AIBU Weird Phobias

What weird phobias do you have?
Mine is loose hairs touching me. If I have a hair down my top it drives me insane and I know straight away when there is one or if one touches me in the bath, I have to fish it out straight away. Even a stray hair attached to clothing and sometimes I have to physically stop myself from pulling them off other random people's clothing as that would probably be seen as beyond weird!!!! I hate them.I have long hair but they don't bother me while their still attached to my head! Just loose, stray ones attacking me. DH says I'm very weird. That is my only strange, compulsive thing though. What's yours?

Another one who hates polystyrene. I have a strange phobia about being in the house when the window cleaner is outside, I hide. Really odd as he is a nice guy but he only gives a vague indication of when he will turn up, sometimes I’m at work and sometimes I’m at home. If I’m outside when he arrives we chat, when I go inside I hide. If I’m inside and his face is suddenly at the window I’m startled, wave and hide. Luckily he has a long handled brush for upstairs windows. When I lived in Australia I was terrified of Christmas beetles- one flew into my hair and became entangled and they would hang onto the fly screen door hissing.

HarrietOh · 13/10/2019 17:40

Plastic buttons. They’re disgusting! I feel so unclean and gross if I accidentally touch one, yack.

Ceefa2 · 13/10/2019 17:44

Red sauce. I can't even call it the k-word, even that word goes through me. It's the texture, the smell 🤮 If the kids have it, I can't scrape their plates into the bin, they have to do it and wash the plate too.

For an April fool's joke they put an empty bottle of it under my quilt and coloured in red paper into a 'splat' shape coming out of the bottle. Cheers kids! Couldn't sleep in my bed knowing that bottle had been in their, swear I could still smell it in my bedroom.

Grumpbum123 · 13/10/2019 17:45

Big cruise ships in docks walking alongside was strangely claustrophobic

CatsOnCatnip · 13/10/2019 17:45

@Campervanlife4me yes! Wool on teeth! And even worse, those vile chenille (?) jumpers that everyone wore in the 90’s. The thought of then makes my teeth itch. It was just as bad getting them caught in drawers, they had what I can only describe as a silent squeak that made me shudder.

Fruit cake also makes me gag.

YouSirOweMeOneNewHat · 13/10/2019 17:50

I have severe phobias of clowns, spiders and flying/heights

My odd phobias are of fruit scraps. So; stalks from grapes or apples, pips, peel (especially banana), apple cores, stones.
Anything fruit related.

I can't touch them or be near them. It makes me feel physically sick.
I can't even pick up bananas to buy in the shops.

I have to leave the room if someone's eating fruit Envy (not envy!)

thebogwitchisback · 13/10/2019 17:55

I have trypophobia which is aversion to irregular patterns of holes.
It makes me feel nauseous and skin crawlingly uncomfortable.
I also can't watch anything about ship wrecks or prehistoric sea creatures.
I don't know why but it causes a strange panic feeling in me.

Tinselandwine41 · 13/10/2019 18:01

I have a phobia of slugs. For as long as I can remember. I can't go into the garden at night without a torch - the idea of standing on one makes me feel queasy!

Corned beef/spam. Meat in a tin is dog food. End of!

wannabebetter · 13/10/2019 18:04

Really big things! Cruise ships, skyscrapers, mountains - anything if I'm close to it & it's really big!! Makes me feel dizzy!! Also shipwrecks underwater..

peakygal · 13/10/2019 18:05

Walking into something that makes my sock wet makes me gag so bad

AppleTree0915 · 13/10/2019 18:08

Moths and butterflies

SlothRunner · 13/10/2019 18:11

I hate wooden chip forks too!

And i cant have a lolly on a paper stick as it goes all soggy and i can feel it against my lips 🤮

Oneborneverydecade · 13/10/2019 18:18

Belly buttons and confined spaces. I have been known to panic when they shut plane doors but honestly the idea of being buried alive Shock

BreakfastAtLitanies · 13/10/2019 18:18

These aren't phobias - phobias are mental disorders Sad they're much more severe than this, maybe you need to change it to "fears".

Campervanlife4me · 13/10/2019 18:25

breakfast if I knew how to change it, I would change it for you. Just had a look but I can't figure it out. Sorry if I've caused upset.

@Campervanlife4me
Yes the toilet roll is a daily problem but ok if :
It’s not squat together with the rest of the pack in a bag (touching) 😆
The end is free already and I am not scraping the end away.
If it’s on a holder and it doesn’t scrape against the wall !
It’s an unfortunate several times daily occurrence and much better when my husband has made the necessary preparations for me. Don’t know where the phobia has come from 😂

butterybiscuitbasic · 13/10/2019 18:34

It quite a phobia but - umberellas - not in themselves but putting them up and down. I have to ask someone else to do for me, and generally go without (I have many coats with hoods),

badgermushrooms · 13/10/2019 18:37

Tinsel me too. And I once lived in a shitty falling down terrace in a former industrial area where the local ecosystem was pretty much just different species of slug, no natural predators. They used to come into the house at night so we couldn't leave anything on the floor, and needing a wee in the middle of the night was a tense experience as the toilet was downstairs. Ugh ugh ugh.

butterybiscuitbasic · 13/10/2019 18:38

*not not it!

RedPurpleyBlue · 13/10/2019 18:41

Not sure if this is weird but I have a phobia of being sick and seeing sick ☹️

Kinda ruins my life tbh

Swer987 · 13/10/2019 18:46

Trypophobia for me too (holes).

Not a fear as such but makes my skin crawl, really upsetting. 2 months ago I saw a picture on Facebook to do with it. It upset me so much I deactivated my Facebook account and still havent reactivated it.

BreakfastAtLitanies · 13/10/2019 19:33

@Campervanlife4me That's very sweet of you and thank you for understanding. I'm not upset so please do not worry - and it's a common misuse of the word phobia so not just you! Thank you for trying to change the title Smile very understanding and open minded of you!

Pythone · 13/10/2019 19:45

Eggs, especially the white part - something about the smell and the jelly-like texture and knowing what they are.

NerdyCurvyInkedandPervy · 13/10/2019 19:50

I have Icthyophobia.

Parsley65 · 13/10/2019 21:19

Another one for earthworms, (but no problem with snakes or spiders!)
