Mine is a poster who when she was quite young was chased on the motorway late at night by a gang of men who drove dangerously, too close and who behaved in a threatening way. She was terrified and ended up pulling into some services which were deserted aside from a group of lorry drivers. Terrified and crying she screeched to a halt by them, unsure whether she was jumping from the frying pan into the fire. They turned out to be her saviours who chased the car away and escorted her back to her junction with her little car sandwiched between their huge lorries. She had the name of one of the drivers (Alf?) Who she said she thought of often who had been so kind to her and who had shared his thermos of tea with her that had been made by his wife.

I have just passed my driving test but this post stuck with me, even before driving was on my radar.

Anyone else?

The poster who meant to call her young son a whiny tinker or similar and called him a tiny Walker in public.
I howled at the mistake cos I'm often getting tongue tied, and words twisted I could almost imagine something like that happening to me! I never know what's gonna come out of my mouth!

I remember one woman who got totally roasted on here.. it went a bit too far..but it was funny (initial content anyway) ,, complaining about a spanish package holiday...the poo-ella (paella), seaweed on the beach and her taking over and showing the pissed off waitress how to make a sangria

I think my favourite that I always remember is the OP was worried about putting her baby down (to cook) in case it cried, and someone's reply was "It's a baby not a miniature god to be appeased!"

Every time I think about it, I have mental images of flower garlands, tribal drumming and offerings of lakes of milk for a baby in a fancy chair.

When Chaos' phone went wrong and she posted something like.
"Oh F" which managed to post itself about 50 times. Followed by 50 posts saying "uck"

The one where the poster who told a story about when they were house sitting and looking after their friends puppy and three dogs for and the puppy escaped and ran into the forest and she went after it with one of the dogs and all sorts of evil, ghostly things happened and then she managed to get back and the puppy was there all along. I'm not describing it properly but it was absolutely TERRIFYING reading it. (Kind of want to read it again, but not at this time of night).

AGerm, that was the scariest post I ever read on Mumsnet. I think she was staying in the Savernake Forest

UCM is that you?

A long standing regular had name changed to post about an embarrassing gynaecological disorder and she went to great lengths to tell us she’d name changed except she hadn’t name changed and posted under her regular name. The first poster after her came out with the classic line UCM is that you?

UCM to her credit took it with great grace and humour was embarrassed but happy to have advice.

I love that Style and Beauty thread. I’m regularly reminded of it when I’m shopping. My favourite quotes are ‘Lionel Blair’, ‘a fat knackered old man’ and ‘Suzi Quatro’s fat nan.’

Just hilarious Grin

There have been a few (mostly by AnyFucker who cuts to the chase with the minimum of words Grin ) but the poster that had me crying for ages was the unfortunate autocorrect 'boil in the vag curry'.

'Let's not get existential about charcuterie, Joffrey'
