Expecting first baby and physically revolted by twee brand names...tommy tippee, cudl, cuggle (the worst offender) and the most ridiculous encountered so far...petunia pickle bottom, what the actual fuck?!

I can’t be the only one to have such a reaction - what brand names do you hate?

Ickle bubba 🤢

RushianDisney · 07/10/2019 11:14

Smeg

Spied · 07/10/2019 11:17

Every mum walking round here has a 'BabyStyle' pram emblazed on the hood and the side.
I HATE it. Looks cheap and naff.

sandytoes84 · 07/10/2019 11:21

@PumpkinP and posts on the pregnancy bots that include ‘bubba’ or ‘bub’ should be reported!

We have a cuggl high chair and I hate the name. It's on the front of the chair so I have to see it ALL the time!

Beebeezed · 07/10/2019 11:25

Another vote for icklebubba! It’s a shame because their travel systems are really good and affordable but I honestly didn’t get it because of the name (lame of me, I know) but I just couldn’t bring myself to reply ‘icklebubba’ if and when people asked what buggy I went for! 😂 writing it out is ridiculous but the name sends shivers down my spine

Sheld0r · 07/10/2019 11:28

My babiie

Wheat2Harvest · 07/10/2019 11:36

Smeg

Smeg is awful. I have to resist the temptation to add 'ma' with a felt pen.

MrsXx4 · 07/10/2019 12:12

The ickle bubba travel system was perfect for us but couldn’t walk around pushing a pram with that written on it. Went for good ole Silvercross.

TooMuchSun12 · 07/10/2019 12:24

Jo Jo Maman Bebe. There’s literally no easy way to say this. The full name is a mouthful and saying ‘Jojo’s’ makes you sound like a nob!

iklboo · 07/10/2019 12:25

Tixylix. Sounds like a twee cat treat.

70sWitch · 07/10/2019 12:32

Tommee tippee has been around since 'Adam were a lad' but some of these others make me feel as if we've slipped into a dystopian nethuns nightmare Shock
Ickle Bubba? Really? Tell me you're shitting me. Please!

Anusol. Remember the days when there were actually plastic chairs in the chemist with this legend emblazoned upon them. They now pronounce it An U Sol to make it sound less anussy.

Also Vagisan. Always on tv when we are sat eating tea. So very matter of fact in a bossy, headmistressy way.

Rainbowknickers · 07/10/2019 12:56

My babiie-just why?
Tiny toes-on a buggy I saw once
The MAM brand-it sounds cheap
I also can’t stand the trend of a lovely pram-any brand-and the parents have the name of baby embroidered on it
Sorry I just cringe

Snugglepumpkin · 07/10/2019 12:56

Snickers.
I used to like Marathon bars but I can't bring myself to buy anything that makes me think of a demented combination of snide laughter & underwear.

PegasusReturns · 07/10/2019 13:00

Bugaboo is pretty ridiculous, although people seem to have got weirdly used to it...

Esker · 07/10/2019 13:04

@PumpkinP I was about to rush in and say Ickle Bubba as well 🤢 Instagram keep advertising their buggies to me. I'd rather die than walk around with that logo on display 😱

HighlyUnlikely · 07/10/2019 13:06

Vagisil

Can you imagine the naming brainstorm...

Right, this is a product for ladies with er... a 'problem' erm, cough, cough, you know, 'down there'... in their (whispers) vagina.
So, like a poorly vagina? It's sick in some way or ill, if you like. Vagina is poorly? Nah, doesn't really sound right, how about Vagina is not very well? Too long.
Got it! Vag is ill... smash that all together - Bingo!

GrandmaSteglitszch · 07/10/2019 13:10

Cif - changed from Jif to make it easier to say for non UK customers, apparently.
Bench - why walk around with that on your clothing?
Sweater Shop - have they gone out of business? I've seen so many nice jumpers in charity shops, then not bought them because they have Sweater Shop written right across the front.

EmAreSea · 07/10/2019 13:11

Ambi Pur. If they want me to pronounce it the way they do they should have spelled pure properly. I say ambi-purr, and never buy any of their stuff.

GrandmaSteglitszch · 07/10/2019 13:12

HighlyUnlikely, that's awful & actually very likely. Grin

Yes, well with a username like that I'm not surprised you found it funny!
(I did too!)

Wheat2Harvest · 07/10/2019 14:19

Brain's Faggots. They were rebranded some time ago as Mr Brain's Faggots, I think to make the name sound more palatable.

The name still puts me off, though.

Dita73 · 07/10/2019 14:35

@GrandmaSteglitszch They went out of business years ago. I used to work there. Every item had it written on. Awful!
