Skinny jeans tucked into boots

morrisseysquif · 06/10/2019 16:43

I was watching a you tube video the other day and there was one all about wearing jeans with boots. One of the comments was 'you do not tuck skinny jeans into ankle boots, that is a fashion NO' . There were quite a few comments in agreement.

I've always done this, and consider myself fairly stylish. In the winter, what else would you do? It is one of the reasons I buy skinny jeans, that they tuck into all sorts of boots and you avoid the wet hem scenario.

Am I a fashion disaster?

I do this too @morrisseysquif so if you're a fashion disaster, so am I!

AliciaQuays · 06/10/2019 16:45

Which. Boots

Shayisgreat · 06/10/2019 16:45

I hope not - I do this too!

Wherearemycrayons · 06/10/2019 16:45

No I always do this, I think THEY are the fashion disaster 😂 I mean how can you not? I think they look awful NOT tucked in. But I’m now 27, maybe I’m loosing my fashion sense 😂

Fantie · 06/10/2019 16:45

I do it too.. and so does everyone I know...

lululup · 06/10/2019 16:45

How can you not?

Ponoka7 · 06/10/2019 16:45

I'd always say don't go for fashion, go for style.

I don't understand all this being influenced by other people though.

It depends on the style of boot.

Fantie · 06/10/2019 16:45

I’m 29..

imclaustrophobicdarren · 06/10/2019 16:45

Surely it would depend on the boot.

BubblesBuddy · 06/10/2019 16:46

You buy cut off jeans! They are everywhere. So they finish above the boots. Take a look at most retailers. You can wear your jeans as you wish but the fashion is to have shorter jeans now.

itsboiledeggsagain · 06/10/2019 16:47

Errr cold ankles?

user1471449295 · 06/10/2019 16:47

I fail to see how skinny jeans go over a boot

SillyLittleBiscuit · 06/10/2019 16:47

Fold the hem up

Yadnbu. This week one of my jobs is to stitch elastic underneath my skinny jeans because I’m going to wear them with looooooong boots.

morrisseysquif · 06/10/2019 16:48

@BubblesBuddy then you get a gap....with exposed skin.

I'm a soft southerner. Grin

There is lots of us making fashion disasters so.
It suites some people I love my skinny jeans or winter leggings tucked into my boots. I think it looks stylish.

TheDarkPassenger · 06/10/2019 16:52

I cuff mine above the boot but I didn’t realise it was a fashion thing?! Shit I think this is the first time I’ve done something fashionable ever.

MitziK · 06/10/2019 16:52

I won't go for fashion. And I won't go for style.

I'll go for not freezing my fucking arse off in winter, thanks. The only reason I still have skinny jeans (as they are probably the most uncomfortable and unflattering things in the world even when in your size or a size larger) is that they will fit inside my boots, both knee length and walking ones. And then I'll have legwarmers covering the tops because my legs are too fat for jeans and thick socks.

Atalune · 06/10/2019 16:53

Little gap. Very stylish.

Otherwise with chunky socks.

Pukkatea · 06/10/2019 16:56

I'm barely 5ft2 so screw cut off jeans that make my short legs look even more stumpy.

morrisseysquif · 06/10/2019 16:59

I'm glad it isn't just me. This was a US you tuber, if that makes any difference.

I could roll them up I suppose but it is October, I wear boots because they are warmer, so rolling up my jeans defeats the object. I'm also blue/white and I'd have to shave my legs - what else is Autumn for but to forget all that exfoliating shaving tanning palava?

Plus they are skinny, so there isn't much give to roll them up without cutting off the circulation in my lower leg. That isn't a good look either.

I shall carry on keeping warm and stylish.

Maybe a pop sock is the way to go!

I’ve got really fragile skin, I have to have a layer of fabric between me and shoes/boots. If I walked around all day with the tops of my boots rubbing against my skin it would be raw and blistered by the end of the day. The only alternative would be wearing long socks above the boot top and that’s definitely not stylish.

LettuceP · 06/10/2019 17:02

I wear my jeans as ankle grazers anyway so they cut off above the boots, I don't mind cold ankles 🤷‍♀️

CombineBananaFister · 06/10/2019 17:03

Skinnies into boots here, with chunky socks. Because I like to warm more than I like to be stylish Grin
