Skinny jeans tucked into boots

I was watching a you tube video the other day and there was one all about wearing jeans with boots. One of the comments was 'you do not tuck skinny jeans into ankle boots, that is a fashion NO' . There were quite a few comments in agreement.

I've always done this, and consider myself fairly stylish. In the winter, what else would you do? It is one of the reasons I buy skinny jeans, that they tuck into all sorts of boots and you avoid the wet hem scenario.

Am I a fashion disaster?

It's just a fashion thing! They make legs look shorter though. If it was a US site then they always way behind Europe in the fashion stakes. Jeans rolled up above ankle boots has been a thing for a few years now- if you're only catching on to this trend now then you are way behind Grin and missed the the boat on this one- dark denim boot cuts or flared leggings are the way to go now!

If it's really bitterly cold and you have bare skin showing above your boot, then you're an absurd fashion victim with absolutely no common sense.

Not particularly, they just have different fashion. Many trends from the US make their way to Europe.

I always think the short jeans look strange. It reminds me of my grandma saying “put some jam on your shoes and invite your trousers down for tea”. I’m 25 but I’m not fashionable, I just dress for the countryside.

PuppyMonkey · 06/10/2019 18:58

I was on a thread last week giggling a bit at all the fashionable young things talking about their cut off flared trousers with boots, making them all look like the Bay City Rollers.Grin

I’ll stick with tucking in, thank you.

StockTakeFucks · 06/10/2019 19:27

Wtf are flared leggings?

incognito76 · 06/10/2019 19:29

This was a US you tuber

Oh, they never have a bloody clue what they're talking about when it comes to style. American makeup tutorials on YouTube are invariably awful as well.

I wear my jeans rolled up. Only kind of boots I wear are Doc Martens though. My style is more punky/90s grunge!

JaceLancs · 06/10/2019 19:53

For me it depends on the length of the ankle boot
I have low rise boots where my jeans or trousers end before n higher boots where I tuck in
I also do knee boots (fashion disaster for some) but I lost 7 stone to have skinny enough calves to buy knee length boots so I’m not budging

Pharlapwasthebest · 06/10/2019 19:57

Who cares? Do you like it? That’s all that matters

pigsDOfly · 06/10/2019 20:05

That's going to really shorten the look of your legs, especially if you wear boots with them. Are short, stumpy legs the in look now?

LaurieMarlow · 06/10/2019 20:11

This is one of those examples of fashion existing to make your life difficult.

See also that phase a while back of cutting the back out of perfectly reasonable tops making them unwearable with a bra.

Or fashion’s hatred and disdain for useful things like leggings, nude tights/heels, black cardigans.

pigsDOfly · 06/10/2019 20:22

*when I say 'you', I mean whoever's wearing them. Not referring to anyone in particular.

Disfordarkchocolate · 06/10/2019 20:53

WTF!!
What is the point of boot and trousers to leave a bit to get cold and wet?

cacklingmags · 06/10/2019 21:32

Hells Bells! I had to google this a couple of years ago to see if it was allowed. So I am tucking my skinny jeans into a high rise trainer - Nike Air Max - because I have old and painful feet. They look great on me so fuck off with your not allowed, I will be wearing them tucked in until the grave - and possibly beyond.
