To go for breakfast on my own?

I am in desperate need of an hour childfree as I haven’t been parted from DC for weeks now. I have a rare free few hours Sunday morning so was thinking about going out for breakfast- but I have no-one to go with.

AIBU to go alone? Will people feel sorry for me having no friends?

I go for breakfast alone quite a lot, I take a book and nobody bats an eyelid. Do it!

Yellredder · 04/10/2019 20:35

Go! Love a breakfast on my own!

Waveysnail · 04/10/2019 20:35

Best type of breakfast. Book or phone - bliss

MoMandaS · 04/10/2019 20:37

Of course they won't! I was in a busy cafe this morning and at least 3 people were there on their own (only noticed while trying to decide which table to choose).

Hopefullysmart · 04/10/2019 20:38

If you feel that way, you can't need the break enough 🤣

I go for breakfast/lunch myself once or twice a week. It is bliss. I think the last time I felt even remotely obvious was at least 20 years ago. And I in turn would never even register that another person was on their own, let alone judge or pity. Do it!

Sounds amazing. I should do this more often

MustardScreams · 04/10/2019 20:38

I go for breakfast/lunch/dinner on my own all the time. I read a boot or newspaper and it is divine. So relaxing.

Fluffsmum · 04/10/2019 20:40

It's totally fine! I take a book and relish my alone time!

KatherineJaneway · 04/10/2019 20:40

No one gives a care, and if they do, so what? Have a few childfree hours and have fun

MirandaWest · 04/10/2019 20:41

I like going out to eat on my own Smile

CAG12 · 04/10/2019 20:42

Breakfast/brunch/lunch solo is fantastic.

Taswama · 04/10/2019 20:43

I used to love going to the cinema on my own and should probably start doing it again.

PhilomenaButterfly · 04/10/2019 20:44

I do it every school morning! Grin

megletthesecond · 04/10/2019 20:44

Yanbu. It's bliss.
Get a newspaper and enjoy the peace.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 04/10/2019 20:45

I eat breakfast by myself all the time. Don't think anyone thinks it's odd. There's always plenty of other people eating by themselves.

RoseHippy1 · 04/10/2019 20:45

I have a baby and a 1 year old. I would ABSOLUTELY go for breakfast on my own! Take a book / paper / mag / your phone . It will be awesome !

Runkle · 04/10/2019 20:46

I would love breakfast on my own - go for it!

Witchinaditch · 04/10/2019 20:47

What? Why is this a question? Why do you think anyone will notice you? No one will care.

Cleverplayonwords · 04/10/2019 20:48

I go lots of places by myself, just take a book.

ZogorElmer · 04/10/2019 20:50

Thanks everyone. I usually take 6 month old DD with me for some company- she obviously doesn’t talk but I feel less awkward if she is there.

However I really need DH to step up and have them both for at least an hour while I get some headspace.

Oh yes. The kind that makes you say 'oooh lovely' as they put it down in front of you' Grin

Girasole02 · 04/10/2019 20:57

I often do this. Usually take a book. Utter guilty pleasure.

You need to set your bar higher, he shouldn't need to step up to have the children for an hour, it should be something that regularly happens as part of day to day life.

iklboo · 04/10/2019 21:01

I've just changed my working hours so I get every other Friday off now. I know what I'm going to be doing.
