To go for breakfast on my own?

I am in desperate need of an hour childfree as I haven’t been parted from DC for weeks now. I have a rare free few hours Sunday morning so was thinking about going out for breakfast- but I have no-one to go with.

AIBU to go alone? Will people feel sorry for me having no friends?

I go out for coffee n porridge or coffee n toast nearly every day on my own!
It’s my chill time

DoubleNegativePanda · 04/10/2019 21:07

Definetely go on your own! I go out places by myself all the time, and quite honestly a lot of the time I prefer it.

One of my favorite things to do is to go to the pub of an evening with a book, or if there will be live music I take my knitting bag. I'm not kidding-I sit at the bar with my beer and knit. A beer, music and my knitting? Absolute bliss.

But then, I really truly don't give a hoot what people think of me. For all I know I'm the crazy lady that knits at the bar to the rest of the village.

@ZogorElmer - make sure you go and mute any contact from him whilst you're there.

kateandme · 04/10/2019 21:23

It's fantastic
I command you to do it .😊

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 04/10/2019 21:25

I do this nearly every week. Run the kids to school and then straight down to Waitrose for a bacon & egg roll and massive latte in their cafe.

And I do say ‘ooh lovely’ when they put it down in front of me. Grin

Absolute bloody bliss.

Thanks everyone. DH works full time whereas I am off on maternity leave so I am obviously around DC much more. He does help out when he is home, but we usually do things as a family at weekends so I don’t get much time apart from them. He often goes to football on Saturdays too so I’m on my own with them 6 days a week and sometimes I just fancy a bit of space.

I do have a spa day booked in 3 weeks time so will get a decent break then. Provided DD will take a bottle during the day that is!

A lovely idea. No one will take any notice. Enjoy it.

I go for lunch alone sometimes. Take a good book. Love it. why would you care what random people felt about it?

Leeds2 · 04/10/2019 21:52

Go! And don't look back!

Mute your phone.

HippoClampus · 04/10/2019 21:53

When I have (rare) time free, I love taking a book to read over a coffee at a cafe. Bliss!

0lga · 04/10/2019 21:55

If he goes to football every Saturday , when is YOUR half day off ?

SpotlessMind · 04/10/2019 22:00

I do this whenever I can, it’s fab, just take a book/phone/newspaper - it’s not awkward at all

LauraMacArthur · 04/10/2019 22:02

Why wouldn't you?? Sounds great. I attempted this the other day but the cafe was out of my fav breakfast! Ruined it a bit.

Shoxfordian · 04/10/2019 22:05

Go on your own, take a paper, stay for an extra coffee, enjoy yourself

TheCatsACunt · 04/10/2019 22:11

I always do this when I’m working from home. Have a really funky restaurant across the street from my house. Bring either my work laptop or a book, have breakfast with at least two coffees.

managedmis · 04/10/2019 22:11

GO!

incognito76 · 04/10/2019 22:18

Yes, go on your own. Take something to read, and enjoy. Nobody will think it's weird that you're on your own, honestly. I often go to cafes on my own and nobody bats an eyelid.

LucieFurr · 04/10/2019 22:22

Do it

Girlmeetsbook · 04/10/2019 22:25

Bloody do it and enjoy every peaceful second.

Willow2017 · 04/10/2019 22:29

I go to a cafe a couple of times a week.for a coffee and pastry before I face the shopping.
I sit reading my book for at least half an hour. It's bliss. Wish I could do it every day😀

Leftielefterson · 04/10/2019 22:30

OP take some time out and enjoy a long leisurely, uninterrupted breakfast. I occasionally have lunch alone and rather enjoy it. Sometimes I’ll take my kindle (especially if I’m hooked on a good book).

Spa day sounds fabulous too. You deserve the break!

Gracie300 · 04/10/2019 22:31

Eating out alone is THE BEST. Do it!

ZogorElmer · 05/10/2019 06:56

@0lga I’m not working at the minute so apparently every day is my “day off”!

I don’t really have any hobbies or many friends (I work 3 evenings a week tutoring so it’s hard to join anything) so don’t go out without the children much as I don’t have anywhere to go.

He’s lovely. Not.
Enjoy breakfast!

Jent13c · 05/10/2019 07:04

I'm pretty jealous of your solo breakfast. Sounds a dream
