Jo to the Rescue for £40 in paperback is a disappointment waiting to happen for someone!

Doubleraspberry · 21/09/2019 09:38

So we went to the Tiernsee this summer and I looked everywhere for potato balls but found none at all. I did however discover nougat dumplings, which are little hot dumplings filled with melted toblerone (minus the nuts), and covered in hot vanilla sauce. You’re all welcome.

I fixed the terrible formatting in Theodora this morning and resaved the book in Kindle Format folder. Not promising a professional job but not as awful as it was.
If anyone else has spotted a book with terrible formatting, let me know and I will fix when I have time.

QuaterMiss · 21/09/2019 10:12

I’ve just this minute finished Joey and Co in Tirol on my phone Kindle, Yugi - and the chapter headings and footnotes are jumbled up with the main text ...

Grateful to have it though! Fairly absorbing, but by the end I was longing for a bit of school briskness and some order marks.

Created whole new account for this as I couldn't log on to the app anymore. Please could I have the dropbox link? I have Jo to the Rescue if a scan or photocopy would help? Hardback reprint copy. I also have Chalet Book for Girls numbers 1 and 3. Mum and I have most books if not all between us but she won't part with her copies! Even though she allegedly bought them for me as a child.
Really enjoying seeing fellow Chalet fans.

What app do I need to read the Dropbox books? Keep getting this:

To ask the Abbess to find me a solid lump of comfort and a cream cake
Yugi · 21/09/2019 10:20

*Corneysjazzband If you can send me a scan then I can type it up and add it to the collection. No idea how long it will take me though :)

Yugi · 21/09/2019 10:21

AveAtqueVale I just use the kindle app.

DT’s went back to Uni this week, the house is a mess, need to go shopping, DH is cutting the grass but I’m lying on the sofa with a cup of coffee, packet of biscuits and Highland Twins - definitely one of the better books!

Howyoualldoworkme · 21/09/2019 10:39

Corneysjazzband and Yugi if you can do such a wonderful thing you'll be excused prep and immediately be granted a corner cubey! Grin

Found this on YouTube

A journey to the Chalet School

Yugi · 21/09/2019 10:48

Just started watching that and then realised it was an hour long. Will have to come back to it later :D

PenCreed · 21/09/2019 12:50

Highland Twins is full of spectacularly bad stereotypes of Highlanders (plus the twins are Islanders anyway, which is a different thing) and Joey "raising an eyebrow" at Shiena daring to have an accent! But there are also some very good bits - just the general social stuff that EBD probably didn't think anything of, as well as the loss of Jack before it goes all silly with second sight.

Papergirl1968 · 21/09/2019 15:34

I follow the New Chalet Club on Facebook and one of their members has just raised an interesting question.
In Exile when Jem comes to the cave where Jo and the others are hiding, he pulls her close for a moment and murmurs in her ear. When he lets her go she has a startled look on her face. What did he say? Was it that Madge would follow when she could as she’s pregnant with Josette? I always assumed it was this but members of the NCC think Jem wouldn’t have worried Jo with that news when she was already in a very stressful situation.
Lots of them think it was simply that he, Madge and the family all loved her and that she was to take care, but to me that wouldn’t have accounted for the startled look.
Or thirdly - and perhaps the most likely although I’d never thought of it - is that once they reached safety she and Jack must marry ASAP.
Any thoughts?

CarrotVan · 21/09/2019 15:41

He knows she’s been shagging in the empty rooms at the Sam and she’s better get married ASAP

She needs to grow up and be less annoying

She’d better marry Jack quickly because he’s been giving Robin the eye

He (Jem) always preferred her (Jo) to Madge

Carrot! 😂

WaynettaSlobOnTheSchoolRun · 21/09/2019 15:57

@Parker231 could i please also have the link?

Chickenpie9 · 21/09/2019 18:26

Could I also have the link ?

Chouetted · 21/09/2019 18:39

I have a spare, battered copy of Jo to the Rescue if that would be helpful

Chouetted · 21/09/2019 18:44

Also, I don't know how many are in the dropbox link, but I have 38 transcripts in word documents from some years ago.

Yugi · 21/09/2019 19:21

Hi Chouetted, we have managed to find all of them except Jo to the Rescue. If you have that in word document it will be very welcome.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 21/09/2019 19:38

De-lurking. Could I have a link to the drop box too, please?

Jfw82 · 21/09/2019 20:20

@Parker231 another requesting Dropbox link please....
At a wedding last weekend (in Scottish Borders) was inspired by countryside but was almost disappointed in lack of random school girls and the need to schulplatter(?) and dance on the ceiling

WanderingMind · 21/09/2019 20:24

Half of my conversations with DH are now Chalet School based. I do stop when his eyes glaze over Grin
