Please may I also have the Dropbox link @Parker231
My collection was lost in a house fire when I was 17. I'm still devastated by it!

turkeyboots · 20/09/2019 18:44

May I have a Dropbox link too? I picked up the books in charity shops as a child and loved them so much. My mum gave them l to charity when I was at university, still am upset many years later!

cerys · 20/09/2019 19:15

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

Fantastic! 2 weeks sleeping and being waited on, I’d be a new woman!

Papergirl1968 · 20/09/2019 19:25

Just had the obligatory near fatal accident in Carola, followed by obligatory rescue by a doctor, who, if memory serves me right, goes on to marry one of the mistresses caught up in it Grin
This is why we love them so much, I think, because they’re predictable!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 20/09/2019 19:32

Please can I have the Dropbox link? I adored the Chalet School as a kid; I read all my mum's copies of the books.

Howyoualldoworkme · 20/09/2019 19:54

I rather liked Miss Slater. She just didn't buy into the whole thing and questioned the tri-lingual stuff. She also didn't like some of the girls, was ambitious and didn't fall for the Joey worship Grin

villainousbroodmare · 20/09/2019 20:00

Parker231 would you send me the Dropbox link also, when you get a chance. I'm excited! Vague but positive memories of reading my mother's Chalet School books.

Twizzzy · 20/09/2019 20:01

Could I have the Dropbox link too please. I loved the chalet school when I was younger and it would be great to re-read it.

bluebluezoo · 20/09/2019 20:03

Ooh I thought for a moment we had extended into The Abbey Girls.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abbey_Series

Similar era and theme. Loved them along with my mum’s Chalet books.

Jengnr · 20/09/2019 20:14

Please may I have the link?

I loved the chalet school but I haven’t read them all. I’m very unclear on the war parts.

bluebluezoo · 20/09/2019 20:15

Link for me too please :)

BellatrixLeStrangest · 20/09/2019 20:29

May I join in? used to love EB books like st Clare's and Malory Towers. Happy to dedicate my life into reading 60 books, how do I get the Dropbox link please?

CarrotVan · 20/09/2019 20:31

I’ve just read the one where it’s announced that the main school is moving to the Oberland and was struck by how much of the move the prefects seem to be organising and planning. These are fee paying children...

And Madge now has black hair Hmm

I would bloody love it if someone could prescribe 3 months in the Swiss alps with feather beds of cream cakes and some delicious vegetable soup.

Pls to arrange

Imagine Joey on Twitter. She'd never shut up.

Tom would totally have an Etsy as well for her amazing dolls' houses.

NewSchoolNewName · 20/09/2019 23:23

I’m sure we could all use tips from Joey on our social media Wink

From parenting to household management to juggling a writing career with umpteen children to diet advice.....

Howyoualldoworkme · 21/09/2019 07:08

bluebluezoo You'll be delighted to find that there are several Abbey books in the Dropbox. I love them, they make the Chalet School look perfectly normal Grin

Now, I've just finished Jo Invades the Overland and a whole new storyline appeared!! Who is Phoebe?
Is Jo to the Rescue in the Dropbox or is that the missing one? Should be before Tom Tackles?

Frangible · 21/09/2019 07:23

Phoebe appears in Jo to the Rescue, and is a stoical Victorian invalid with an expensive cello, whose dreary days are brightened by ghastly Reg, and then by Joey and friends and their bazillion children acquiring a holiday home nearby, and who help her bag a doctor in a situation which contravenes every possible GMC guideline about patient-doctor relationships.

Her doctor (Phil Graves?) transfers to the Platz, hence she is mentioned in later books, but her doctor is only an also-ran, second-tier doctor, because we’re told he’s ‘plain’ and ‘little’, not big and blonde and permanently lunging at his wife with a syringe, like all the proper doctors. Grin

Yugi · 21/09/2019 07:28

Jo to the Rescue is the only one we are missing. I have been looking around for a copy that I could type up but even the armada versions go for about £40!

Frangible · 21/09/2019 07:34

I think I have the Girls Gone By reissue, @Yugi, but it’s inaccessibly boxed in the attic or garage. If I come across it, will share.

Howyoualldoworkme · 21/09/2019 07:55

I think Hilary Burns married Phil Graves?
There's a lot of head tilting 'Poor Phoebe' as she can't have a 'proper family' and has to adopt. Luckily one of those train accident orphaned toddlers was available! Hmm
The state of the railways in those parts!

trixiebelden77 · 21/09/2019 08:44

Inspired by Jo I bought a set of the Elsie books.

They. Are. Hilarious.

Frangible · 21/09/2019 08:52

You're probably right -- wrong doctor name, then. All I remember is that Joey dwells on his smallness and thin lips.

And there was a cello-stealing villainess with the wonderful name of Zephyr Burthill, who is magically reformed by merely breathing in the same air at the Robin. Grin

PhilSwagielka · 21/09/2019 09:30

Phoebe married Dr Peters, who was really ugly and got into rheumatology because his mum had chronic pain too. Also, EBD was going through a cello phase at the time.

Doubleraspberry · 21/09/2019 09:35

That must have been not long after Jacynth’s cello in Gay?
