To ask MN to suspend AIBU temporarily...

...so that posters have to look for the vaguely correct section to post in?

Yes, I get the "posting for traffic" mentality and it is occasionally relevant when someone has a bona fide emergency, but fucking hell.

Yes, yes you are being massively unreasonable to ask if your shoes go with your dress when there is a perfectly adequate style and beauty section which I have hidden as it doesn't interest me

Yes, yes you are being totally unreasonable to ask for travel tips to (insert destination here) when there is a very straightforward travel section, which may even have the answer to your question if you could be bothered to look Lots of MNers have been to California/New York/Berlin/Centre Parcs/Efteling and have posted extremely useful advice about them.

I could probably go on, but it has definitely been getting worse lately.

While I'm at it, maybe there could also be a new "sticky" section with the answer to questions which come up with depressing regularity re sheet/towel washing, what present to buy for some random relative that nobody knows or how much to give in a wedding card?

Genuinely interested to hear opinions on this, and if anyone is horrid I will just add the disclaimer that I was tired when I posted.

You’re being ridiculous.

IncognitaIgnorama · 31/08/2019 14:36

How do you hide a section? I have never been able to work out how to do that (just individual threads) and have been getting pretty desperate Grin

Otherwise, I actually don't think YABU...

AmIThough · 31/08/2019 14:41

You should have posted this in 'site stuff'.

FizzBuzzBangWoof · 31/08/2019 14:42

YAB a bit U but I get where you're coming from

I would love to ban anyone starting a thread in AIBU with the title "AIBU to ask" with no hint whatsoever of the subject matter, at least it the title says "AIBU to wash my towels 3 times daily" you have a clue to what senseless madness you are letting yourself in for my opening the thread!

noroominthefridge · 31/08/2019 14:48

@AmI - I debated long and hard about where to post Grin

@Purple - should I ask for an Am I Being Ridiculous topic?

@Fuzz Absolutely spot on!!!!!!

@Incognita I hope somebody a little less luddite than me will be along to explain I have actually forgotten so would like a refresher

They're a business, they're not going to change the section of the site that gets the most views! That would definitely BU as far as the advertisers are concerned.

Ligresa · 31/08/2019 14:50

Shouldnt this be in "Site Stuff"?

Ellisandra · 31/08/2019 14:50

If we don’t agree with you, can I recommend you claim the thread is too identifying?

lljkk · 31/08/2019 14:52

ha! AIBU abuse peeves me, too.

AliceAbsolum · 31/08/2019 14:53

I think people should at least try to phrase the issue as a AIBU question. Blatant posting for traffic annoys me.

ScreamingValenta · 31/08/2019 14:54

Do you think the Queen will give her permission? Grin

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 31/08/2019 14:54

Oh the irony that this should be in site stuff.
Post here for traffic did you OP?

ConorMcGregorsChin · 31/08/2019 14:55

The perpetual sheet and towel washing threads are seriously winding me up at the minute. It's been done to fucking death with the same polarised range of answers.
And the fact that MN included one in the latest email. Grrr

Maybe things will improve once all the kids are back at school?

But yeah, YANBU

winobaglady · 31/08/2019 14:55

I think that, first, we have to vote, then claim we didn't know what we were voting for.

Next, Mumsnet needs to rearrange all the sections and threads, then, and only then, can we ask for any suspenion.

HTH Smile

noroominthefridge · 31/08/2019 14:59

@NoHummus - I take your point, but the recent spate of patently NON AIBU postings may drive people away

@Ellisandra - great idea

@ScreamingValenta Grin Grin Grin I honestly hadn't thought about that angle re "suspension"

OP posts:
NoSauce · 31/08/2019 15:02

We definitely need a “Am I pregnant” and a “I hate my PILs” board.

noroominthefridge · 31/08/2019 15:02

Oh the irony

Shit, I don't have an iron. Next you'll be telling me I have to iron the towels every time I wash them.

OP posts:
georgialondon · 31/08/2019 15:03

You're taking Mumsnet way too seriously Grin

ALoadOfTwaddle · 31/08/2019 15:04

I completely agree with you. It's very annoying.

Bouffalant · 31/08/2019 15:05

You should have posted this in 'site stuff

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 31/08/2019 15:05

But it won't happen! I don't know why you're bothering as you seem like an oldie?

See this thread from more than 5 years ago.

You either put up or shut up on this subject, it seems.

Also, I do miss Maryz.

summersherewishiwasnt · 31/08/2019 15:06

Yanbu - Can we also add questions such as
Aibu to pierce my baby ears
Wash my toilet brush in the dishwasher
To own a toilet brush
Leave washing out over night
Do I claim a prize for worse pil

coconuttelegraph · 31/08/2019 15:07

I'd like to see a tool whereby anyone who posts a thread about a subject that's been done to death they are automatically sent a link to all previous threads as there is nothing new that can be said on the subject.

Also a special topic for stupid threads that ask for posters to answer questions - what colours are your toilet walls? what was the last TV programme you watched? hwo often do you wee per day? I can't fathom the reason behind this type of thread, who is so interested in the lives of strangers, what do they do with the information? (yes, I know the irony of asking those questions Grin )

diddl · 31/08/2019 15:09

Wot!

No vote?

noroominthefridge · 31/08/2019 15:09

I've only been here about 18months (with a few name changes) Unless you are referring to my age, in which case you would be correct Grin
