thank you Laura and yes I do understand what you mean I hope you stay with the site and peoples lack of compassion for people less educated then themselves does not put you off!!
it takes more intelligence to understand someone whose grammer is not on top form then to stick the boot in and be rude so in all I think you are very intelligent and have put your point across well!!
dont quite know why this thread has gone form postal strikes to people grammer!!lol

Bluestocking · 04/08/2007 20:33

OK, Peachy, point taken, but wouldn't you agree that correct grammar and punctuation do help to make a person's writing clear and comprehensible? And I'm extremely shortsighted too so I sympathise with your difficulties in seeing the screen.

Peachy · 04/08/2007 20:37

I think it helps

I dont think its the be all and end all

and id rather stryuggle than upset someone over something so relatively small

I do, of ocurse, inhabit my own arse. I am aware of this!

g21inny · 04/08/2007 20:37

sorry not answering for peachy bluestocking but would like to add a point some people cannot write with the correct grammer I actually suffer with mild dyslexia but I know how to join in a discussion I apologise if peeple do not understand me but I am stil an adult able to join in on this dicussion and so is laura and probably half the other users of the site!!

lisad123 · 04/08/2007 20:58

I would also like to add, that just because some people cant get across their point in written form, does not mean they cant verbalise what they want

I suck at written reports but put me in a box at court and I could fight my corner as well as the next, if not better, so pah to you hunny
Just because people are dyslexic (which i am) doesn make them stupid, I have huge IQ

Sorry and to add, yes im sick of posties striking, the ones that need to strike like nurses and fire figther, dont because they arent able. Now they deserve to strike in my opinion

Lisa

southeastastra · 04/08/2007 21:01

oh stop going on, you've made your point

Bluestocking · 04/08/2007 21:01

Hi Lisa, let me know when you're next due in court and I'll make sure I'm in the front row!

Bluestocking · 04/08/2007 21:02

Sorry SEAstra, I will stop now!

g21inny · 04/08/2007 21:05

This site is becomming increasingly bitchy and there is no need!! all this is doing is ruining the site for others!! I made my point about the strikes etc and then it turns into a contest for grammer!!!
I have reported Bluestocking for being so rude and take a good look in the mirror honey are you any better then the rest of us??

g21inny · 04/08/2007 21:07

I apologise southeastastra!!
It has just bugged me but I have said my point!!

Bluestocking it is UNACCEPTABLEto say that to someone who is dyslexic

really disgusting

southeastastra · 04/08/2007 21:10

i meant to lisa. we all know now how you feel about the strike.

it's depressing me seeing it all the time on a saturday night.

g21inny · 04/08/2007 21:20

How rude must you be!!! it is not a competition on peoples grammer!!! Are you a child because you are acting like one!!! dyslexia is not something to take the piss out of!!! would you take the piss out of your children if they had it?? I dont think you would grow up!!!

Aitch · 04/08/2007 22:11

being honest, i think anyone who starts a petition to Gordon Brown about a strike without even the faintest idea of the circumstances leading up to it must be monumentally, embarrassingly stupid. that's the bottom line for me.

and i still am not clear on what the OP has 'learned' from this discussion, she seems fairly set on her opinion so the exercise has been a fair old waste of time because as far as i can see no-one from MN has signed the petition.

Also, Ginny, you know you don't need four exclamatories each time? it's not really grammar, it's just that it makes your posts difficult to read and 'sounds' like you're shouting.

lillaura123 · 04/08/2007 22:22

fgs right this is it guys, please no more personal attacks and please no more comments about grammer - in fact this thread was to see how many people agreed or disagreed with the petition and a link added for those who chose to use it - thats simple...

if you dont agree say so , if you do say so, if you want to sign do if you dont then dont - how hard is that?

and finally if your fed up with this thread then stop writing in it and boosting it up ignore it - then eventually it will fade away

Aitch · 04/08/2007 22:34

oh, will you please stop telling everyone what to do?

lisad123 · 04/08/2007 22:34

I wonder what the delated message said I would love to invite you to court but family courts are closed to the public.

Its strange how one comment by one person can turn a thread inot something that had nothing to do with the OP.

expatinscotland · 04/08/2007 22:35

FFS. This is still going on?!

lisad123 · 04/08/2007 22:41

Oh and to add my dad was a postie for 14 years, so do understand how hard they work too. He very rarely if ever, took part in the strikes. With 4 children to support he didnt feel able to lose his wages, and he got a lot of stick for working. Its sad that in this day and age striking is still the only answer that works with top bosses.

I dont really understand the reasons for the strikes other than pay and something about another company taking their post or something.
