This is not a funny ad

How on earth did the manager go “yes! Perfect!”

The header on the pic says “would you punch your ex in the face for a free steak” for those who can’t see the words

link to the post

Owner sees nothing wrong with it and “does not promote violence” Hmm

I'm missing the joke here. Why is it funny or witty?
I don't get it.

Soubriquet · 28/07/2019 12:01

Neither do I but apparently we are “snowflakes” for finding this offensive

OP posts:
OnlineAlienator · 28/07/2019 12:02

This isnt even logical as a joke Hmm

TheRealShatParp · 28/07/2019 12:02

I wish I understood the joke.

TheQueef · 28/07/2019 12:02

I'd assume whoever wrote the ad is some pent up thug it wouldn't encourage me to buy a steak more like avoid the place!

Dmacka75 · 28/07/2019 12:03

This is a pub, not too far away from me the owner is renowned for creating 'provocative' ads and campaigns and it seems has no problem with any of their content or how low he will go as long as people as talking about his shitty, unpleasant premises

Fraggling · 28/07/2019 12:04

I don't understand.

Why the ex, what do they have to do with the steak,?

What am I missing.

Gender 'rules' say steak is for men (fuck knows why) and that steak is fairly large so it's certainly suggesting a man punch his ex in the face and given heternormative mores (aforesaid big steak butch men thing) I'd say the suggestion is a man punch his ex girlfriend.

Just putting that out there before the could be a woman punching a man brigade arrive, as they always do.

So, couple splits, the move on. Sunday be fancies a steak so he finds her and punches her in the face.

I have no idea what he connection is? Can anyone explain.

Roomba · 28/07/2019 12:05

I must be missing something as I don't even get what the 'joke' is? Is it referencing something else? It's absolutely awful anyway, how can anyone think that it isn't promoting violence?

gubbsywubbsy · 28/07/2019 12:05

Is it something to do with putting steak on a black eye ? Either way I find the actual steal pretty offensive.. no meat eater needs to eat that much cow in one go!🙄

MashedSpud · 28/07/2019 12:05

Is it the old “put steak on a black eye to heal it” thing?

Bit confused myself.

Fraggling · 28/07/2019 12:06

Is it because the rarer meat in the middle reminded the ad maker of torn human flesh

And of course all men hate their ex girlfriends and would like to physically harm them

Is literally the only thing I can think of

Fraggling · 28/07/2019 12:08

Xposts

The steak isn't on someone eye though

And why the ex

Or does he mean

Punch your girlfriend in the face
Get a steak (cooked from the pub.... So no that doesn't make sense)

Soubriquet · 28/07/2019 12:11

I’m assuming the campaign is “punch your ex in the face, prove it and we will give you a free steak hahaha”

All as a joke

But you know some twat will do it

CruellaFeinberg · 28/07/2019 12:12

this place was mentioned here before I think - the owner is a bellend anyway and gets free publicity by being horrible

Fraggling · 28/07/2019 12:14

Just came on to say that op!

It's punch your ex in the face and get a few steak.

Has he put a time limit on it and does he need proof

If no and yes then he's in for a few steak too every man convicted of dv etc within driving distance?

I really hope the pub doesn't make more money due to this thread

GoFiguire · 28/07/2019 12:17

Let’s all date him and then punch HIM in the face. That would be funny.

ysmaem · 28/07/2019 12:17

What a bellend.

Oysterbabe · 28/07/2019 12:18

Why would you get a steak for punching someone?

Comps83 · 28/07/2019 12:19

Ah this just reminded me that I’d also seen some inappropriate pub grub advertising yday

To think this is the most disgusting advert ever
pepperpot99 · 28/07/2019 12:19

Personally I'd prefer a bottle of prosecco. I'd do it for that.
