This is not a funny ad

How on earth did the manager go “yes! Perfect!”

I don't find it funny at all Hmm
I'm just pointing out why it doesn't work as a joke.

GlamGiraffe · 28/07/2019 13:25

Clearly someone who convicts awful jokes.

So good, I, like most people don't get it.

If you're a DV victim it's a deterrent and an unpleasant reminder.

Idiot.

BritWifeinUSA · 28/07/2019 13:25

I wouldn’t even leave my seat for that steak. It looks awful. And onion rings! They belong in Burger King! You don’t eat such junk with decent steak (although this is hardly worthy of being called steak).

Italiangreyhound · 28/07/2019 13:25

Vile.

LordRudolphVII · 28/07/2019 13:29

I read it as " would you do something really bad to get this" a bit like the social experiment where they see if people would agree to a child being killed to keep the suitcase of money. But pretty poor taste (and not likely meant to appeal to the type of people that post on here).

Shesmessybutsheskind · 28/07/2019 13:31

Reported the ad.

Fraggling · 28/07/2019 13:32

I really don't think he's running this as asocial sxperiment!

Way too much benefit of the doubt.

Id also question whether it's meant to be seen as bad. The fact that he refers to ex (lots of people dislike or bear ill will towards their exes) points in this direction.

Gross
Found a Pube in my dinner, spoke to craig harker who told me to foxtrot oscar off and threatened to have my Mrs beat up, avoid the place and the food tastes like poo, place needs a good clean like harker does, he stinks and doesn't know what a bath is

Date of visit: June 2019

ChocChocButtons · 28/07/2019 13:34

The joke (not a funny one) is I’m guessing how far will you go for a good steak! Aka punching your ex.

Fraggling · 28/07/2019 13:35

Why ex though?

Fraggling · 28/07/2019 13:36

It doesn't make sense however you look at it

Seems that the publican just likes VAWG from pp

ChocChocButtons · 28/07/2019 13:37

Because it’s extreme to think I’ll punch my ex for a steak but hey those are the lengths I’m willing to go....

It’s very stupid and not funny at all.

MissPollyHadADolly19 · 28/07/2019 13:38

@fraggling not really because the advert is based on openly shared posts online.
Therefore the problem isn't in the advert but in the inspiration for the advert, ifswim?

All I had to type in was "would you punch your ex" and it's everywhere!

Fraggling · 28/07/2019 13:40

Misspolly according to tripadvisor post above he threatened to have acustomers wife beaten up.

Really can't see why people are so keen to say this guy has misjudged or whatever.

Yabbers · 28/07/2019 13:41

The joke (not a funny one) is I’m guessing how far will you go for a good steak! Aka punching your ex.

But that doesn’t make sense. Surely if you really want something, you’d be willing to punch someone you loved. Punching an ex would be something you’d be ok with doing? (This all assumes you are on board with the concept of punching somebody for your own personal gain)

Wouldn’t it be more of a joke to say ‘would you snog your ex for a this steak’?

This is a pub, not too far away from me the owner is renowned for creating 'provocative' ads and campaigns and it seems has no problem with any of their content or how low he will go as long as people as talking about his shitty, unpleasant premises

Dread to think what kind of people go there!

Fraggling · 28/07/2019 13:42

Chocchoc

Why not mum, gf, sister, daughter?

It doesn't make sense to use ex. Feels more like permission. Will you break the law to do something you want to do, is more like it. So the act is illegal, but is accepted that the desire to carry out the act is already there.

Butterbeeeen · 28/07/2019 13:44

In all honesty I would punch my ex in the face for a lot less than a steak 🤦🏻‍♀️

Fraggling · 28/07/2019 13:47

Why don't you then.

I mean seriously what a thing to say.

so you want to assault your ex. Ok assuming your female and your ex is Male, chances are you're coming out of this encounter worse off.

I mean wtf are you even on

StarGOLD · 28/07/2019 13:50

They’ve been at this game a long time. This advert was banned back in August ‘17..if you check out their Twitter feed this grill prides itself on big eating for meat heads..Nice. Rough as...

Heismyopendoor · 28/07/2019 13:54

Going to complain to ASA now. This is disgusting

Sandybval · 28/07/2019 13:59

A lot of comments on the post itself seem to be from women defending it or commenting how funny it is; most of the more reasonable comments seem to be from men, weirdly.

Sandybval · 28/07/2019 14:00

It's disgusting.

Butterbeeeen · 28/07/2019 14:01

You assume right. I can assure you I'm not on anything I just find the idea of punching my ex in the face strangely satisfying. You have no idea of my back ground nor his. The advert is a joke. Not a very funny one but a joke nevertheless.

Fraggling · 28/07/2019 14:03

And you'd do it for 'less than a steak' so whats stopping you.

Assault is illegal for a reason.

Sagradafamiliar · 28/07/2019 14:05

I got a text from my ex with a link to either this or some other shower of shit with the same idea accompanied by loads of crying with laughter emojis in about 2012. It's not even funny.
