Very faint line on pregnancy test?

beepjenni · 16/07/2019 19:46

Hi mumsnet Smile I took a cheap Poundland pregnancy test this morning as I had (still have!) a feeling I was pregnant but because I wasn't completely sure I wanted to save my money. I've bought a more expensive test alongside after this faint line to do in a few days to verify which leads to my question. There's a very faint line on the pregnancy test (picture linked) and I'd like a second opinion. The speculation is high and I don't want to do the second more expensive test too soon! Is this very faint line visible to you? I hope it's visible enough on the photo to be seen. I could be clutching at straws.

I can see three lines which leads me to believe it's a defective test sorry

TheTrollFairy · 16/07/2019 19:48

I can’t see another line but that could be because I’m on a mobile and it’s hard to zoom on them without the picture shooting off the page!

Did you notice the line within the correct time frame? If so then definitely test again in a couple of days

beepjenni · 16/07/2019 19:49

Birdseye, oh no worries Smile maybe I got a dodgy test. It's my first time taking one so maybe I hadn't noticed the third line. Thank you!

I’d say that is an evaporation line, good luck though and try the more expensive tests in the morning (first wee of the day!)Or order a load of cheapies off Amazon and go for gold

SmallHope · 16/07/2019 19:49

Has it flooded? Best wait a few days and test again, best of luck OP.

Bellaposey · 16/07/2019 19:50

I can see a line OP. Highly recommend getting a FRER as they seem to be much more reliable.

HP07 · 16/07/2019 19:52

I would say that test looks unreliable as I can see what looks like a possible positive line but also another one close to the control line which might be an evaporation line. Try again with a first morning urine on another brand. Good luck

StinkinDrink · 16/07/2019 19:53

I actually can see a line but how far gone would you be? I took a poundland test exactly the same at 3 + 5 and got a very dark positive! Everyone is different though but I can definitely see a line.

beepjenni · 16/07/2019 19:53

Thetrollfairy, I noticed past the 5 minute time frame- the pink ink was taking longer to travel down the test than it should have. I thought there was something wrong with the test earlier. I thought defective brought up nothing? I am having pregnancy-like symptoms and have missed my period, I just have this feeling I am, I could be wrong but I'll leave it a few more days and take the other test. Thank you Smile

Stinkindrink, I'd be 2 weeks 3 days along if I am pregnant. I've heard the couple of days can make a big difference in levels in your urine so I'll see how the next test goes in a couple of days. Sorry if I sound a little clueless- this is my first time taking a test! Smile

HP07, at a closer look I can see the third line now. The pinkish one looks like a possible positive line to me. Thank you! 😊

Thank you everyone! Would any of you recommend this test? I wasn't going to fork out as much for a clear blue digital until I was sure and I've heard this one is reliable. I'll keep updated Smile

First test looks flooded. Good luck OP 🥰

ChikiTIKI · 16/07/2019 20:05

Is it a pink or blue dye test, the one you've just bought in the box? Pink dye is clearer to read.
Good luck!

Coffeeisnecessary · 16/07/2019 20:06

FYI you would be more than 2 weeks along if your period is late. Pregnancy is measured from your last period not ovulation so when a period is missed you are at least 4 weeks pregnant.

SuzieQ10 · 16/07/2019 20:09

Looks invalid / flooded to me as the dye looks patchy. Have you got a second one you could do? 🤞fingers crossed!

beepjenni · 16/07/2019 20:12

Coffeeisnecessary, my timing might have been off- I've had a lot of pregnancy symptoms (some could cross over to PMS of course!) and get my period quite regularly on the 14th of the month. I started bleeding last Thursday and didn't have many of my normal symptoms- I bled very lightly for 3 days and had a tiny amount of cramping- so started suspecting it might be implantation bleeding instead of an early period along with the rest of the symptoms I don't usually have. Hopefully all my answers will come by the end of the week! Smile

If you’ve already missed a period then a test should be positive so I’d try again. There’s a lot of staining on that test so I’d do another one in the morning.

Coffeeisnecessary · 16/07/2019 20:14

Hope you get the result you want!!

beepjenni · 16/07/2019 20:15

SuzieQ I thought it might have been! I wasn't 100% sure but saw a second very faint pink line. I have a second test but will wait a few days so I might get a slightly darker line than I think I did. Thank you! Smile

EAIOU I wasn't sure if it was or not. Thank you! 🥰

I've used the cheapo Morrison's own tests before and never had any problems Smile think it's about 3.50 for a pack of two?

beepjenni · 16/07/2019 20:18

Magstermay thank you for helping Smile I'll try again with this other test!
