to be mowing your lawn.

OP posts:

I think it's ok on a weekday. We've been up a couple of hours by 8 am during the week.

wowfudge · 05/07/2019 08:00

What time did they start?

feathermucker · 05/07/2019 08:03

I've done it before, was about 7.45am when I started. I don't have a big lawn though.

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 05/07/2019 08:04

Before 8am is too early for anything apart from caffeine imo yanbu

EdtheBear · 05/07/2019 08:04

On a weekday no, I'd think differently about a Sunday.

EL8888 · 05/07/2019 08:05

Too early. If you work how can you have time to do it and if you don’t work surely you have all day?!

greatvengeanceandfuriousanger · 05/07/2019 08:06

Yanbu, it's way too early to be making a racket.

Ihatesundays · 05/07/2019 08:15

Too early. We’ve just had a massive delivery come and 7.30am and it was really noisy and I was pissed off (I didn’t know they were coming then)

ginghamtablecloths · 05/07/2019 08:18

It is early if you use a noisy machine which disturbs the neighbours.

zingally · 05/07/2019 08:30

On a weekday, oddly early, but okay - fair enough. People are generally up and about and heading out by then.
On a weekend... Too early.

Dontcallmeprecious · 05/07/2019 08:32

I am awake much earlier, but would expect mowing to start at 9am and finish by 7pm on any day of the week.

People have busy lives, maybe this was the only moment they had to do it?

sacope · 05/07/2019 08:32

It wouldn't even register on my radar, but I have a neighbour who's dog gets let out the back at 6:30am and another neighbour who's kids are running wild by 7:30am!

omione · 05/07/2019 08:34

It is too early what ever day, not everyone works Monday to Friday, for some Wednesday Thursday is their weekend

RoryGillmoresEvilTwin · 05/07/2019 08:34

I think it's fine.
I don't understand why on a weekday it would be ok but not on a weekend?

I'm assuming it's because people have been at work all week and the weekends are time to have a lie in, except not everyone works mon-fri, 9,5.
What about people who get their lie in on a Wednesday?

I think 8am any day is fine. It's not like it's the middle of the night.

RottnestFerry · 05/07/2019 08:36

I'm up long before 8:00am but wouldn't dream of making a noise before that.

Incidentally, we have been granted planning permission. One of the (standard) conditions is that no work that can be heard form outside the property boundary can start before 8:00 am.

S1naidSucks · 05/07/2019 08:39

Extremely rude behaviour. I’m up from 7am, but I don’t even leave my dogs out unsupervised, until after 9, in the unlikely event they bark and disturb the neighbours. It’s the attitude, “well I’m up, so to hell with the rest of you, as I get to dictate what time you should be awake” That attitude is on here regularly.

Even if people are up, they don’t want to be disturbed by unnecessarily noise, while they’re getting breakfast or trying to feed their children.

LadyKylieShagworthy · 05/07/2019 08:40

Way too early imo.
As someone said not everybody works mon-fri.

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 05/07/2019 08:40

YANBU but personally I would have preferred a lawn mower to the barking and then yelling at the dogs to tell them to shut up that I was greeted with this morning. All while I'm off sick, feeling crappy and in my bed.

MagpieSong · 05/07/2019 08:41

I'd count 8am as a massive lie-in, but my ds still wakes at 5:30am every morning. Grin Not sure I'd personally mow my lawn at that time, but on a weekday I don't think it's terrible. Then again, thinking about it, I'd say 9am would be more reasonable and we'd probably go for that.

Notageek · 05/07/2019 08:42

Too early , 9 am is ok

Littlecaf · 05/07/2019 08:43

Probably a bit early! I’d stick to 8.30 when I can hear the kids walking to school to start doing anything noisy outside. My kids don’t get let out (like dogs Grin) until then!

LakieLady · 05/07/2019 08:44

I don't think it's too early, but I'm one of nature's larks so am usually awake by 6.

I accept that other people aren't though, and I wouldn't cut my grass before 9, or maybe 8.30. I'd love to do it first thing, at 7, say, so I could do it before going to work!

I think it's difficult at this time of year, as grass yellows so quickly if you cut it while it's in the sun. Unless I faff about all day, doing different bits of the garden at different times, I can only really do it before 9 or after 7, and after 7 people may well have young children trying to sleep.

LakieLady · 05/07/2019 08:46

Afterthought: our bin men come round at about 7.30, making a god-awful racket.

How do people feel about that?
