Yes, I'm talking about you, deadpersonalhouseelf. I haven't even bought the book yet an already I know (partly) what happens.

Your forgefulness is spoling the book for other people" As PersonalClown says, there are hundreds of house elves! And, as F&Z says, get off the internet and read the s*dding book!

compo · 23/07/2007 20:45

totally agree with F&Z
If people really didn't want it spoiled they wouldn't be on the Internet.
The ending must surely be all over the news by now anyway.
Get a grip ffs

mumofSlytherinsmonsters · 23/07/2007 20:45

YABU, its monday fgs, how long do you expect ppl to keep quiet for??

I feel like changing my name now so you know what happens. If you were that botehred you would have bought it on saturday and know most of it by now so this wouldn't be an issue.

Stop moaning about it get off the internet and go and buy the book.

F&Z, DS has scarlet fever, I haven't been able to get out to buy one.
Spoilers are fair enough after a while but not two days. Give people a chance to read it. We didn't all queue at midnight on launch day and we're not all speed readers either.

OP posts:
compo · 23/07/2007 20:49

me too Califrau, and dh

LoonyLyraLovegood · 23/07/2007 20:50

Do you really expect the majority of people to have read it by now? I've got two children aged 3 and 4, one of whom is ill, am i supposed to neglect them while i spend the whole weekend reading?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 23/07/2007 20:50

ditto CF

I stayed away from anywhere where people might be discussing it until I had finished

I am sorry about your ds Lyra, but you can't expect people to go on not discussing this indefinitely

SoupDragon · 23/07/2007 20:51

I have 3 children aged 8 6 and 17 months. I read it when they were in bed.

LoonyLyraLovegood · 23/07/2007 20:52

There's a spoilers thread for discussing spoilers, why can't it be confined there to give people a decent chance of reading the book? I deliberately stayed away from that thread but was reading one about sandwich fillings and discovered a spoiler there.

OP posts:
HermioneSnogsLuna · 23/07/2007 20:52

Personally I don't see the problem.

HermioneSnogsLuna · 23/07/2007 20:53

It was a blimmin accident FFS! It's not the first time someone's messed up a namechange and it won't be the last.

LoonyLyraLovegood · 23/07/2007 20:53

I wasn't actually that annoyed with deadpersonalhouseelf, but I am getting at this attitude of 'if you didn't buy it on the first day and speed read it then stuff you'.

OP posts:
LucyJones · 23/07/2007 20:54

why don't you read it now though, if you're that bothered?

GinnyHasSnapesBaby · 23/07/2007 20:56

People have taken that line because the complaint was, in their opinion, unreasonable and it was posted in the hotbed that is the AIBU topic.

mumofSlytherinsmonsters · 23/07/2007 20:56

i didn't queue at midnight either..i picked it up at sainsbo on sat morning. oreder it from amazon or play and it could be there 2mo/wed

FrannyandZooey · 23/07/2007 20:56

Lyra, I don't think anyone has deliberately posted spoilers to upset you

but getting upset over the equivalent of over hearing two people discussing it in the street and going ballistic at them, is a bit barking

LoonyLyraLovegood · 23/07/2007 20:57

LucyJones, I could drag DS to the shops with scarlet fever but that wouldn't be fair on him. there are all kinds of reasons why people haven't bought and finished it over the weekend. Is a week or so too much to ask?

OP posts:
LoonyLyraLovegood · 23/07/2007 20:57

Who's going ballistic?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 23/07/2007 20:58

I think it is a fair assumption that anyone who is going to be very angry / upset about minor plot details being revealed, will have made sure they have read it by now, or that they will be staying away from places where people are discussing it.

HarryGetsHighAndShagsHermione · 23/07/2007 20:59

if you were that desperate to read it you would have ordered/bought it by now. Maybe you haven't had time to go out if your ds has been ill but you've clearly been able to be on the internet and it's freely available on Amazon so there's no reason why you couldn't have bought the book by now.

People have a right to talk about the book. These boards are full of harry potter threads, if you didn't want to know what happens you didn't have to come on here.

FrannyandZooey · 23/07/2007 21:00

well, you do sound pretty cross. You started a thread with a face on it haranguing deadpersonaldoodah. And you're on other threads sounding cross about it too.

FrannyandZooey · 23/07/2007 21:00

You are welcome to borrow my copy if it would help?

LucyJones · 23/07/2007 21:00

but it is easy to avoid places where there might be spoilers
or you could get someone to buy it for you
order it online
I know nothing of your personla circumstances... all I know is that Mumsnet is part of the nternet which is all about free speech. If you are worried about reading something on the Internet that might spoil Hp for you then go do something else.

Btw, I'm not upset, just think it's inconsiderate of the person involved.

This was never a red-faced rant, you lot are making it into one.
I give up.
