Mumsnet almost unusable this morning?

I doubt this will even post given all the issues this morning.

Has anyone else been getting a white screen and pages not loading?

It's making the site almost unusable, where as all other websites i'm on seem to be working as normal.

MN has been very quiet for a couple of weeks so this may explain it. I’ve only had problems myself this morning and only with MN.

Yes, constant white screen. Yesterday was poor but today is terrible.

I’ve reported your OP. So see if anyone’s awake at HQ, get the tech guy to wake up and take a look. MN tech dept is fairly useless. As for the constant hacks....

Yes, very annoying. For the last couple of days, it also hasn't been changing the colour of the posts I have read. Highly irritating.

Yes, couldn’t even get on the site this morning, on my iPhone. At one point downdetector did say the whole site was down, but mainly it said it was working fine, so I’m glad to hear it wasn’t just me.

I did think the site seemed less busy. Fewer posts on threads etc.

Thanks for all those who have reported, hopefully MNHQ can give us some idea of what's going on. It seems to be working better for me now, with only 1 or 2 refreshes needed. However, compared to other sites that's still pretty poor.

Yup, for the last 2 or 3 days - just Mumsnet, pages from other sites are loading fine.

Yep keeps happening here too. SO frustrating! I just want to be able to MN whilst I have my morning coffee!
@MNHQ, please sort this out ASAP! You claim to not know why it keeps happening, which makes me nervous it's another hack that you will tell us about after our personal data has been compromised.

The reason is that their servers can not cope with the volume of concurrent users overloading the server

Saturday morning must be a peak time.

I got a random message which said something about MNHQ trying to increase server capacity, but that's not an instant thing.

I've got no idea how their server infrastructure is architected, but it could involve them adding additional capacity via their service provider or similar. That's just me speculating.

Easy solution is to set up a separate email account just for MN, and give the most minimal info possible. You shouldn't give "personal data" to MN, it isn't necessary.

It's nothing to do with a hack it's a server capacity problem, so stop catastophising and keep it in perspective.
