To hope that this is the end of Jeremy Kyle?

I've just read that today's episode of Jeremy Kyle was pulled because a "guest" that was due to appear has died. No details are known as yet. My view is obviously sympathy to the family and friends of the deceased person but also that this may be the wakeup call that this type of bear baiting voyeurism has had its day.

They weren't due to appear, they died after filming. I wonder if they were punched.

Raffles1981 · 13/05/2019 15:15

I saw some of the episodes when I was on maternity leave - he is vile. Uses big words to try and confuse people, shouts until the audience claps - just generally awful. I don't believe the aftercare is capable of looking after every, single guest after a show. I just didn't get the appeal.

Chloemol · 13/05/2019 15:17

Sorry I don’t understand. Where does it say the show was responsible? Surely that would be the only reason a show like this would stop. It’s car crash tv at its best and millions watch it

badlydrawnperson · 13/05/2019 15:21

So what? We stopped freak shows and bear baiting.

CarolsBiggestFan · 13/05/2019 15:21

They died a week after filming.

Getting this absolute shite off the TV might be the best outcome of that persons death.

The programme makers exploit the most vulnerable, financially poor, low intelligence, members of society for the purpose of entertainment. The man himself is an absolutely vile hypocritical bully. I really hope this is the end of him.

gamerchick · 13/05/2019 15:26

The person who died was apparently an addict on a drug rehab special asking for help but took an OD of morphine and booze after the show was recorded. The presumptions are they want to tooth comb that show to check they weren't too harsh on the guy/check how guests are treated.

user2928362 · 13/05/2019 15:27

I imagine that died actually means that the person killed themselves and that is why it is not being shown. With the recent highlighting of mental health issues around reality TV programmes, it may well be that ITV has decided to sacrifice Jeremy Kyle in order to save Love Island which has recently had 2 suicides and is undoubtedly going to be facing huge pressure in the area when it returns in the near future.

StealthPolarBear · 13/05/2019 15:35

Poor guy :(

DaisiesAreOurSilver · 13/05/2019 15:42

Dreadful man, dreadful programme watched by dreadful people.

roses2 · 13/05/2019 15:43

Oh no my MIL is going to be gutted! She watched this every day and believed all of the stories were true Confused: confused

Raindropsonroses27 · 13/05/2019 15:44

You could argue that the drug rehabilitation schemes that they offer do actually help people who wouldn't be able to afford it or access it otherwise. But the problem is they have to go on the show and be shouted at by Jeremy Kyle first. Not sure about the aftercare team but I highly doubt he's trained properly in how to deal with these people. Certainly not by the way he acts. I once saw an episode where he was literally making addicts beg to go on his rehab programme.

There have been some truly shocking and sometimes comical episodes (seem to remember one episode where someone did a lie detector to prove they hadn't shat in someone else's garden 😂😂🙈) but you can't offer up comedy like this alongside trying to offer sincere help to addicts and call yourself a well rounded show that offers 'conflict resolution'

BertrandRussell · 13/05/2019 15:48

I assume the person killed himself. Hence the frantic arse covering.

thebear1 · 13/05/2019 15:53

It would appear from the news speculation that the death was not natural causes so no doubt they need to look at how the participant was treated. Very sad for the person's loved ones.

GammonNosher · 13/05/2019 15:55

Isn't jeremy kyle GC?

jacqui5366 · 13/05/2019 15:56

It has had it's successes with rehab stories - but when they wheel out Daniella Westbrooke - and the toothless great unwashed of council estates (who is the daddy DNA) - good riddens

FloatingthroughSpace · 13/05/2019 15:59

Years ago I worked with a woman who had previously appeared on JK. She was extremely vulnerable; two kids with learning difficulties and of such limited capacity herself that we insisted that she have a supporter in each meeting to help her understand what was going on. I have never watched JK since I worked with that woman. She was not capable of understanding the consequences of appearing on the show and suffered a great deal of neighbourhood nuisance as a result. I feel like she was exploited for laughs. Wrong.

Jellybeansincognito · 13/05/2019 16:03

Lots of people online asking why?

It’s awful that people don’t recognise that the guests on the show are so vulnerable and it’s essentially a laugh at the poor whilst we throw them digs show.

I hope the family get supported through this awful time.

cocodash · 13/05/2019 16:11

I've taken from the report and how ITV are investigating it as the show had something to do with his death as I can't imagine a guest who had a non related heart attack or got hit by a bus would strike up much interest.

So I reckon after the filming of the show the guest has killed themselves because of what went down on the show.

Wonder if they will ever disclose the details

VladmirsPoutine · 13/05/2019 16:16

That it might have taken a death is abhorrent. That show should have been cancelled a long time ago. From what I've read it's not clear to me whether the death is as a result of being on the show or unrelated.

HelenaDove · 13/05/2019 16:19

Disgusting show. Still cant help noticing that even on this thread someone has managed to get a dig in about housing estates These attitudes fuel this show I live on one and im not toothless nor do i have children. Im child free by choice. We do have a few problem neighbours but we have nurses and teaching assistants too. Who struggle to keep their jobs because of the housing association messing them around over appointments and repairs.

Kyle actually did a prog on landlords but too little too late,

HelenaDove · 13/05/2019 16:21

ITV need to buck their ideas up. I could see something like this coming after LW and Kim Woodburn.

They disgust me these days. I remember when they used to make quality dramas like Cracker.

Danni91 · 13/05/2019 16:28

It was a woman it was the transgender person who won the lottery a while back.
Can't remember her name. Highly irritating person but I hope she rests in peace now.
Melissa Ede it was

Mrskeats · 13/05/2019 16:29
