To ask for help in finding out why my bathroom smells like weed??

Every morning for about 3 weeks now I've woken up and our en suite bathroom stinks of unsmoked weed. Neither me or my husband smoke it, we are detached far away from neighbours and I've tried everything to get rid of it. It's the only bathroom in the house that smells.

I've tried:
-thought it might be the bath mat so I washed it and all the towels on a 90 C wash
-possibly my wee - we have a 3 month old and it's only me and him in the bedroom at the moment so overnight I don't flush the toilet. Tried using a different bathroom overnight and it made no difference
-cleaned it from top to bottom - we do have a slow running shower drain that needs some unblocker shoved down it but haven't got around to it yet.

  • we have horrible scented toilet paper at the moment but it isn't that.

I'm at a loss! And it's driving us mad. It's only in the morning that it smells.

Anyone got any genius ideas?! I'll be forever grateful if someone can help me sort this out!

Does your extractor fan go into the loft? If so, is your insulation hemp based?

Is it where your dh stores his stash?
Have you checked out the bathroom cabinet contents? Shampoo?
Get rid of the scented loo roll, clean out the shower drain, leave the window open slightly.

Is your bathroom adjoining your neighbours house?
I ask as ours is and often smells of weed as they are prolific weed smokers (elderly couple!) and when the windows are open it drifts in from their house to our bathroom (and sometimes into ds’s room which gives me the rage)

I think damp or extractor fans can sometimes smell of weed - in London I notice that the overground trains often stink of week but it’s the aircon/extractor system. Can you clean out the extractor? Also do you have access to a dehumidifier you could put in there for a while?

Detached house with no neighbours near.

Both of us can smell it.

Not sure about the loft insulation but we've been here 2 years and it's only just been a problem .

Neither of us smoke. Husband used to but I told him I'd leave with the baby if he didn't stop. I believe that he doesn't have a hidden stash.

No windows unfortunately to open. Will scrub it again today!

If your husband used to smoke weed and suddenly you can smell it in the house I'm going to hazard a guess that he's got some hidden somewhere.

Apparently giraffecwee smells like weed. Don't suppose you have a pet giraffe.

@countrygirl99 only a soft toy one called Geoff for the baby. Pretty sure he doesn't wee!!

No mat in the bath.

If all else fails I'm going to take everything out and see if it still stinks in the morning. It's really irritating me now!

Is it your bathroom drain? Ours started to stink of a mixture between drains and weed, turns out in the shower when my husband had cleaned it he had dislodged a bit of pipework that stops smells coming back up.
(Not sure of its actually name)
He took apart the pipe under the drainage bit in the shower and the plastic had been sucked back on itself, que all the yuck smells coming back up again.... could be the issue?

Mr Muscle unblocker stuff down both plugholes and the u-bend. Remove any scented products.

Is there any possibility you're eating something that gives your wee a strong smell? (eg asparagus)

It's really not my husband. It's not worth his while smoking again because I would leave and he knows I'm serious.

Tip a bottle of bleach down the shower drain and leave it overnight.

DH clothes often stink like this in the wardrobe and we have no idea why (neither of us smoke weed as both get randomly drug tested at work).

Have you got anything made from seagrass in there? That can often smell a bit weedy.
