Does anyone else get unwell with periods?

marmiters · 10/05/2019 22:47

I mean every period for me = diarrhoea, hot sweats, loss of appetite, nausea, fatigue, severe cramps, headache, metal taste in mouth, anxiety, painful awful ache down below. I feel so unwell and it seems to be worse since I had a baby. This is every month and I'm not sure it's normal.

Anyone else get this?

Every single month for me

marmiters · 10/05/2019 22:49

@girlwithadragontattoo poor you Thanks it's shit. I asked a friend today and she just gets mild cramps and bleeding. That's it. No other symptoms. Lucky bugger!

Yes. I get migraines and pain similar to gallbladder pain after it too

Chocolatecakes · 10/05/2019 22:52

Me too, since having children. I saw the doctor about it recently and it turns out I am very anemic. Things have been better since starting iron. Could this be something for you to think about?

Fcukthisshit · 10/05/2019 22:52

Yep. I always feel like shit too. Nausea (and actually being sick) aching legs, headaches, stomach cramps and diarrhoea. They last for ages as well 😩

marmiters · 10/05/2019 22:52

Thanks @Chocolatecakes - I'll definitely mention it!

scratchyfluffface · 10/05/2019 22:54

Yep pretty much every month over here too

StuckInsideAnEcho · 10/05/2019 22:55

Despite being sterilised when my youngest was nearly a year old, I would get horrid pregnancy symptoms like some of what you describe, for a few years after. But if those are aide effects of anaemia, that explains it because I was usually very anaemic. I didn't eat. And never anything with meat in. I have endometriosis which is shit. But yeah, every month I used to have the full symptoms. Worth getting a blood check and ruling anything out.

Stuckforthefourthtime · 10/05/2019 22:56

Since having babies I have proper morning sickness at the start of each period, including gagging and occasional vomiting. I've found each time it's improved a bit about 6 months after my periods restarted post partum. Not anaemic, no other cause they could see Confused

marmiters · 10/05/2019 22:56

I'm 6 months post partum, ebf and my periods came back straight after giving birth. 5x worse than before and they were bad before having a baby. I hope they settle. Feel like I'm in labour again!

Sometimes when I'm due on i have terrible anxiety, i have nightmares as well and up with headaches.

ASauvignonADay · 10/05/2019 22:57

Sometimes but not always. At worst - faint, sweaty, nauseas, bad stomach. Sometimes just period pain but i tend to go very pale and feel physically drained.

marmiters · 10/05/2019 22:58

@girlwithadragontattoo I get the bad anxiety too. I just worry and don't sleep. My thoughts go like the clappers!

Mine were exactly a size you’ve described until I had my first child and it changed completely. Now I am approaching menopause they are getting uncomfortable again but not nearly as bad as they used to be

marmiters · 10/05/2019 23:03

That's interesting @Copperandtod - mine hAve just got worse but I'm hoping they'll settle.

My daughter is 18 years old. Here are horrendous too. Exactly as you’ve described. She passes out regularly and goes green!!!

SaveKevin · 10/05/2019 23:07

Oh oh oh
Me too!
Aching joints, migraines, constipation or diarrhoea, heavy achy boobs, spots, bloating, tiredness, irritation, even suicidal thoughts.

I think that’s it. All that every 2 weeks - 10 days. Hooray!

marmiters · 10/05/2019 23:08

copper your poor daughter 😥

@SaveKevin I've had suicidal thoughts too with PMS, and my periods are now every 3 weeks as not settled yet! You have my full sympathy x

Yup. Diarrhoea, achey legs and extreme fatigue have always been normal for me. Migraines are a fun new addition to the mix.

FaithInfinity · 10/05/2019 23:09

All your symptoms, especially the pain into your thighs, sound like mine. I struggled on for years before I suddenly developed constant abdo pain. Tests and referrals finally led to a diagnostic laparoscopy which diagnosed and treated endometriosis. Don’t suffer in silence, please ask your GP about this. There are some drugs which can reduce the blood flow, I take prescription pain killers but the surgery to treat it made a huge difference to me.

SaveKevin · 10/05/2019 23:10

Have you mentioned your symptoms to the doctor marmiters?

Ex28 · 10/05/2019 23:10

I’m the same Sad

thaegumathteth · 10/05/2019 23:11

yes I don’t know if it’s got worse because I’ve stopped having babies or because I’ve hit my 30s but it’s worse now that it used to be. I get insomnia, night sweats, morning sickness type nausea for a few days, really really awful pains in my thighs, stomach cramps and just general feeling shit.
