It's not like you all have not been wondering

OP posts:
LaurieMarlow · 08/05/2019 17:28

Archie will be fitting for a small child running around, but as an adult maybe not so.

There will be tonnes of grown up Archie’s (and Alfie’s and Evie’s and Teddy’s) loafing around by that stage so it won’t be an issue. At all.

dreichuplands · 08/05/2019 17:29

My grandfather was Archie, actually Archibold but was never called that. He was in his 90's when he died, so a proper adult.
I would always put a full name on a bc but this family doesn't have to worry about mc snobs not giving their dc a job because they don't like shortened names being used as full names.

Wenttoseainasieve · 08/05/2019 17:30

Thought this was a wind up thread 😂

Nanamilly · 08/05/2019 17:30

I thought so

grumiosmum · 08/05/2019 17:30

And for people saying it's naff, pleb name etc - actually Archie is an aristocratic Scottish name.

yiskasha · 08/05/2019 17:30

@KooMoo bohemian lifestyle? I'm cringing.

DeadWife · 08/05/2019 17:31

Yes grumiosmum. Will give plenty of chances for the cohort of MN Hyacinth Buckets to throw shade on a baby name, just like in the threads.

adaline · 08/05/2019 17:31

My dog is Archie.

Bluntness100 · 08/05/2019 17:31

Archie is a cool name. I'd bet it suddenly becomes very popular.

The people posting horrible things really should be ashamed of yourselves. Even if you hate the royals, this is a baby, and you could politely say well it's maybe not my favourite but I think it's lovely they have picked something less royal.

There really is no need to be a twat about it.

Paddingtonthebear · 08/05/2019 17:31

I know several late teen Archie’s and a couple in 20-30 year age group. It’s not exactly new

JacquesHammer · 08/05/2019 17:31

Wonder if Meghan is a Riverdale fan?

Surely she’d have chosen the more aristocratic “Forsythe Pendleton” if so Wink

mimibunz · 08/05/2019 17:32

I love it! It’s unusual, a bit quirky, and the surname is a nod to his grandfather the Duke.

my2bundles · 08/05/2019 17:32

Good for them for choosing a name they like for their son.

floraloctopus · 08/05/2019 17:32

Thought this was a wind up thread 😂

So did I. The DCs thought I was joking when I told them.

RasberryRoyale · 08/05/2019 17:32

I’m surprised it’s quite normal. Not so keen on Archie but I like Harrison.

I’m just surprised he’s not getting the title of Prince!

diddl · 08/05/2019 17:33

Wonder how he was allowed that when Edward wasn't allowed to call his son Theo & Andrew couldn't call one of his Annabel?

Perhaps Archie is further down the line of succession than the others were at the time?

AuchAyeTheNo · 08/05/2019 17:33

aquashiv

Archie/Archibald is Scottish not American. Quite nice since Harry is the Duke of Dumbarton.

DeadWife · 08/05/2019 17:34

I suspect Archie is going to be a legend.

Itsnotmesothere · 08/05/2019 17:34

I think Archie is very cute. There's only an uproar because it's quite popular amongst the working classes. I don't find Archie a shocking choice at all but was quite Shock at Harrison.

AGoodWench · 08/05/2019 17:34

It's a fine name.

From my pov Archie lives in a Scottish castle and Harrison is a Hollywood A lister, so it's all very fitting!

nomad5 · 08/05/2019 17:34

I bet there was much pearl clutching when Princess Anne named Zara... That's a shortened name too and not exactly "royal".

Lovely name. What a pack of snobs on here with their knickers in a twist....

AgentCooper · 08/05/2019 17:34

I kind of love it. For the royals it’s proper off the wall!

Paddingtonthebear · 08/05/2019 17:34

Definitely not unusual. Archie was the 15th most popular boys name in England in 2018

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 08/05/2019 17:36

They'll be painting the cottage pink

Wendalicious · 08/05/2019 17:36

Harrison is probably my all time least favourite name?
