It's not like you all have not been wondering

OP posts:
MintyCedric · 08/05/2019 17:36

Surely she’d have chosen the more aristocratic “Forsythe Pendleton”

But Archie is a classic good guy (and a ginger) Grin.

DontVisitMe · 08/05/2019 17:37

Same, Wendalicious. Well that and Jayden Grin

lovelylondonsky · 08/05/2019 17:37

Nice enough names but rather...pedestrian. Sounds exactly like the little boys in DD's class at her not very posh state primary! Quite surprised.

Frangipane · 08/05/2019 17:37

Not my choice of names (obviously!)

I laughed out loud at Harrison. Harry's son. Is that something Americans do?

Also, although Archie is a cute name for a baby, I am less sure of it for a man. If it is short for Archibald (horrible) he won't thank them when he starts losing his hair. I can see the tabloid headlines now 'Archie, bald!'

diddl · 08/05/2019 17:37

"I’m just surprised he’s not getting the title of Prince!"

Isn't it because he's not the GS of the monarch or the child of a firstborn?

restingbf · 08/05/2019 17:38

Love the name Archie

Calixtine · 08/05/2019 17:38

I don’t love it for myself, but they obviously do and I love that they’ve gone for such a non-royal name just because they like it.

Parker231 · 08/05/2019 17:38

Thank goodness - a normal name and none of the sticking to the Royal traditional names

DGRossetti · 08/05/2019 17:39

Harrison is probably my all time least favourite name?

DW had a useless wanker boyfriend called Harrison.

Wendalicious · 08/05/2019 17:39

DontVisitMe

There are quite a few around here! Happy they are happy though x

RattyTat · 08/05/2019 17:39

I know several middle aged Archies(I'm in Scotland) so it doesn't seem at all odd to me on a grown man.

diddl · 08/05/2019 17:39

"I bet there was much pearl clutching when Princess Anne named Zara... That's a shortened name too and not exactly "royal"."

I thought that the name had been suggested by Charles?

What's it short for?

floraloctopus · 08/05/2019 17:40

If they have a girl next will they call her Edie?

Hammondisback · 08/05/2019 17:40

Ugh - this: “Kate and William chose much nicer names.” Hate all the comparison and putting them against each other. Vile, vile. Lovely, happy couple, pleasant non-traditional names that have obviously been chosen by both Harry and Meghan - great. How lovely that they weren’t pressured into a more traditional name. I bet Zara Phillips’ name caused a bit of a stir at the time. Who cares, really? Just the usual Daily Mail readers and I bet it’ll keep them going for weeks Grin

HBStowe · 08/05/2019 17:40

You can’t tell there aren’t many Scots on this thread Grin

Archie is a fine Scottish name, and up here it’s considered pretty posh. Private schools are absolutely stuffed with little Archies wearing blazers and short trousers.

RasberryRoyale · 08/05/2019 17:41

The Queen could have given him the title of Prince though.

Bluestitch · 08/05/2019 17:41

Wonder if Meghan is a Riverdale fan?

This tweet made me laugh.

NotMeNoNo · 08/05/2019 17:41

They are clearly fans of the Archers.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 08/05/2019 17:42

Cringe - it's awful.

formerbabe · 08/05/2019 17:42

Isn't it because he's not the GS of the monarch or the child of a firstborn?

Does that mean that when Charles becomes King, he will get a title?

MollyHuaCha · 08/05/2019 17:42

Surprising choice of names.

I bet the bookies are happy.

my2bundles · 08/05/2019 17:42

Maybe they don't want him to gave tne title prince. Princess Anne chose not to give her children titles.

Celebelly · 08/05/2019 17:43

@HBStowe I was just thinking that. No way is it a 'working class' name here!

NataliaOsipova · 08/05/2019 17:43

I thought it was a wind up when my DD first looked it up - insisted she check on the BBC website! It’s errrr.... down to earth, shall we say?

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 08/05/2019 17:43

"If they have a girl next will they call her Edie?"

Quite possibly - or Josie
