@MagicKingdomDizzy - popularity and reputation count for a lot for any monarch. I think the future of the monarchy itself is in the balance, they have done a lot of work setting up W&H&K to be the new face, new generation, and he'd be throwing all that work, plus damaging his personal life and that of his children.

I asked a journalist friend in New York what the coverage was like over there and she said it's been a pretty big story, but in the gossip mags, not the big papers.
