To think the UK media silence on the Prince William rumours is odd

Just that really. No idea if there's anything more than rumour and speculation, but it's all over social media that Prince William allegedly had an affair with one of Kate's friends, but there is a total media silence on it.
Pretty bizarre considering that Meghan Markle barely has to breathe and the media are covering it.

Noodle, I love the pet analogy! I bet cat owners have it even worse. They are as selfish a domestic animal as you can get.
'Feed me ' : then go out all day!
I had to look up this Rose. She isn't as pretty as Kate , but I can see the attraction to be fair. She is his type ( by the looks )
' turnip toffs' was mentioned. More like 'turnip tiffs'

If she did it she deserves it - she knew the risks - if she didn’t it’s very unfair Grin

Libel laws. Injunctions.

That's it. That's why.

The MSM can't just publish any gossip it fancies.

Just consider for how long CPB was referred to as a "friend" of the PoW.

I’m having to abandon this fantastic thread temporarily with 7 pages still to go (should really go and interact with the DC) so apologies if this has already been posted but on subject of QM’s teeth, has anyone seen this from Viz?!

IcedPurple · 27/04/2019 11:03

Her parents are millionaire business people, she was educated at top public schools and her fathers family has reasonable pedigree (if you’re into that shite).

I'm not into that shite, but people in the social circles Wills moves in certainly are. Remember the 'doors to manual' jokes?

Kate's family are wealthy and upwardly mobile, but they're not aristocratic or even gentry. As such she'd be well below the social level (again I don't care but there are those who do) traditionally expected of a future queen consort. Diana was the daugher of an Earl, as was the Queen Mum. Before that, future kings usually married princesses from one of the Protestant royal houses of Europe.

Southwestten · 27/04/2019 11:04

I'm 100% sure it's true
How can you be 100% sure?

RubberTreePlant · 27/04/2019 11:06

Am I the only one who remembers this?

A thread back in the summer (that was deleted, I think) had a MNer saying that she had it on very great authority that the media had come extremely close to publicising an affair that William had had, but the crisis had been averted at the last moment.

Yes, I remember.

I didn't credit it at the time but It was the first thing that jumped into my head when the hints about the Rose person started.

But the likelihood is we'll not find out for sure either way.

There's a lot we never know about the BRF we fund.

LaurieMarlow · 27/04/2019 11:07

Agreed. But they are upper middle class. I was responding to a poster who said she wasn’t.

And the less said about Will’s imbecilic mates the better. What fucking arseholes. If I was Carole Middleton I’d be telling the privileged little twats to go fuck themselves.

Abra1de · 27/04/2019 11:07

Kate’s father has a gentry ancestry:

FannyWork · 27/04/2019 11:10

I don’t think William is that stupid. nor is Rose. I think she has so much to lose, as a PP said in the beginning of the thread, would she want to swap one of the richest men in England , a palace full of priceless art for an affair that would ruin her future? If indeed she loves her husband then I think probably not, if she married him for money the house the title , then again no way would she risk losing it all.

Having an affair with a royal doesn’t necessarily mean you could ‘lose it all’. Plenty of men have been very happy to have their wives sleep with Royals because of the influence, power, opportunity and status it brings.

Andrew Parker-Bowles was perfectly aware Charles was diddling Camilla and was perfectly happy to attend house parties where they both went to bed together or even sometimes in his own home when C&C would go off to bed. He was having it off with Princess Anne at the same time and had huge links to the royals including the Queen and QM and was prominent in royal events and occasions.

Obvs I was talking about Your pets. My doggy loves me unconditionally, even after I curbed his sausage habit Grin

Haggisfish · 27/04/2019 11:12

I went to an old gentry wedding in Scotland once-proper aristos. It was just fascinating- used the family silver and bible, you didn’t sit next to your partner at dinner and there was no dance after dinner either! It was such an insight into how the other half live. There were seven types of tea in the afternoon and the food was just incredible.

FannyWork · 27/04/2019 11:15

Agreed. But they are upper middle class. I was responding to a poster who said she wasn’t.

They are definitely not upper middle class and upper middle class people would not see them as part of their class. They are very, very wealthy middle, middle class. They’re not upper middle class, that isn’t based on wealth. There will be plenty of upper middle class people, younger sons of baronets with a lot less money living in crumbling vicarages on tiny incomes who are upper middle class but the Middletons are not.

Actually mistaking the Middletons for upper middle class is a huge class indicator in itself and one that nobody genuinely upper middle or upper, upper classes would ever make.

The80sweregreat · 27/04/2019 11:16

It sounds to me like some of these ' upper class' types have the moral compass of ally cats ( just from reading this thread alone) I had no idea.

Just ' Jeremy Kyle' types with a lot more money and land and security. If it were the working classes carrying on like this they would be demonised. They also take ' benefits'. I'm getting more angry now!

Abra1de · 27/04/2019 11:17

We aren’t gentry but we don’t seat people next to their spouses/partners unless they’re newly weds as it’s a chance for people to mix.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 27/04/2019 11:19

If there was an affair, I imagine a lot of people would know about the it. Those in the circle, staff and security for a start, then their friends and family and so it ripples out. The media get to know and use it as leverage against another story.

As this thread shows, most folk no longer feel obliged to keep quiet.

FannyWork · 27/04/2019 11:25

Kate’s father isn’t gentry. His Grandmother was a younger daughter of junior family branch that all the estates entailed away from because there were no sons. She was married to a solicitor.

SamanthaBrique · 27/04/2019 11:26

Carole is from a working class background but isn't Michael from a fairly well-connected UMC family?

IcedPurple · 27/04/2019 11:27

He was having it off with Princess Anne at the same time

I had not heard of that! Any more info?

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/04/2019 11:29

Apparently they're still having it off and are an unofficial item. APB is said to be the inspiration for Jilly Cooper's Rupert Campbell-Black. I don't see the attraction personally, not even in his younger days!

derxa · 27/04/2019 11:29

Iamnotagoddess · 27/04/2019 11:29

Oh yeah I heard that too about Anne and APP.

And Charles shagged one of Di’s sisters before he married Di.

ElektraLOL · 27/04/2019 11:34

This sort of thing is why the monarchy is a joke. Whilst it's there, it does nothing except reinforce a snobby class system in the U.K.

Very interesting! Aristocratic circles really are quite incestuous, aren't they?
