To think the UK media silence on the Prince William rumours is odd

Just that really. No idea if there's anything more than rumour and speculation, but it's all over social media that Prince William allegedly had an affair with one of Kate's friends, but there is a total media silence on it.
Pretty bizarre considering that Meghan Markle barely has to breathe and the media are covering it.

When does SHE get to let off steam?

It’s it’s true I feel bloody sorry for her. She hasn’t put a foot wrong and it must feel completely humiliating.

Alsohuman · 27/04/2019 10:02

Unlike Diana, she knew exactly what she was letting herself in for. Including the almost obligatory mistresses.

NorthernRunner · 27/04/2019 10:04

Only if it’s true would she feel humiliated, otherwise she probably just feels annoyed...
I did read months ago that Kate and this friend of hers had fallen out, I think it was in hello! but there was no known reason why, perhaps this was the reason 🤷🏻‍♀️
I personally doubt there is any truth in it.

beanaseireann · 27/04/2019 10:04

If it's true he's an idiot.
He knows what it's like living in a home with unhappy parents because one of them ( initially) played away, to the sadness of the other. He knows how it affects children.
Could he really be that stupid ?

The80sweregreat · 27/04/2019 10:10

Kate hasn't put a foot wrong but it must be so hard being perfect all the time.
Maybe she lets off steam at home with her family? I can imagine they are very supportive. They just look calm and sensible people. Unlike the Royals! ( and earnt their own money too)
Who knows?

mummmy2017 · 27/04/2019 10:10

Watching this in the papers, I think it has been blown up from nothing.

Maybe the pair were to friendly...but that is all..
Harry and Kate laughing the other day coming out of church as William was not here, bet he asked Harry if baby not here do you want to go with Kate....
It all seems made up just because Harry and Meghan moved house.....

Iamnotagoddess · 27/04/2019 10:12

Maybe Kate lets off steam with a MN alter ego and is GF on all the MM threads Grin

The80sweregreat · 27/04/2019 10:15

Kate on the ' relationship ' board!
She would be shocked at some of the replies.
I wonder if they do look at social media?
H and M must do as they are on Instagram.

DeadWife · 27/04/2019 10:18

Wouldn't be surprised at all if Catherine happened to be a lurker at least.

Iamnotagoddess · 27/04/2019 10:21

I bet she is pretty unshockable - she’s a pretty steely lady.

queenofarles · 27/04/2019 10:23

No Idea! But so many people are desperate for it to be true.
I don’t think William is that stupid. nor is Rose. I think she has so much to lose, as a PP said in the beginning of the thread, would she want to swap one of the richest men in England , a palace full of priceless art for an affair that would ruin her future? If indeed she loves her husband then I think probably not, if she married him for money the house the title , then again no way would she risk losing it all.

Maybe it’s Just Speculation and people just kept adding stuff a long.

BonnesVacances · 27/04/2019 10:31

I'm 100% sure it's true and am interested as I would be if this were a soap opera, but I'm not shocked. I expect it's de rigeur in the aristocracy to have mistresses, especially where marriages have been made to produce heirs, for financial security, or combining of families. Our hand wringing and pearl clutching is just betraying our commoner values.

LaurieMarlow · 27/04/2019 10:37

would she want to swap one of the richest men in England , a palace full of priceless art for an affair that would ruin her future?

Given her husbands age and rumoured preferences I can see why she’d be tempted elsewhere.

And I don’t think aristo wives fear about ruining their future. There seems to be a sense that it’s all fair game, just be discreet.

I wonder how this one got out?

SlipperOrchid · 27/04/2019 10:41

It makes me laugh when I read people write that Kate is now so regal since the birth of Louis. What exactly is it that makes someone regal. People are so brainwashed!

AllAboutMeAlways · 27/04/2019 10:43

Am I the only one who remembers this?

A thread back in the summer (that was deleted, I think) had a MNer saying that she had it on very great authority that the media had come extremely close to publicising an affair that William had had, but the crisis had been averted at the last moment.

I always take “inside info” with a big pinch of salt but when all the outlets (broadsheets included) started running this odd & seemingly pointless story about Kate dropping a female friend, I did wonder.

It seems pretty clear to me that, true or not, the media in it’s entirety (not just the tabs) think there was an affair otherwise the Rose stories make no real sense.

IcedPurple · 27/04/2019 10:43

would she want to swap one of the richest men in England , a palace full of priceless art for an affair that would ruin her future?

But it wouldn't ruin her future.

Aristocrats have been 'lending' their wives to high-ranking royals for centuries. It's almost a badge of honour for a prince to fancy your wife.

Now before anyone shouts at me, I'm not saying they DID have an affair. But if they did, I doubt her husband would be terribly upset like us normals imagine he would.

NoYo · 27/04/2019 10:45

I notice a few of the papers have had 'innocent' articles about Rose Hanbury, who is she etc.
Think this is the closest they're daring to go, what with the threat of legal action hanging over them.

IcedPurple · 27/04/2019 10:49

Yup, I agree. None of the papers would dare come out and say 'Here is the posh gal Prince Willie is shagging' but it's so obvious that they are circling round it. I mean, why else should anyone be interested in just another upper-class chick from the shires?

noodlenosefraggle · 27/04/2019 10:50

It's all such nonsense, and we lap it up. I don't know why we (including myself) put up with it. On an intellectual level, getting into a froth over MM not following some stupid made up protocol makes her unsuitable for the Royal Family? Maybe the fact that the Royals and their courtiers need to make up pointless diktat to make themselves seem better than the common people should be telling us something. They are like our pets. We pay for them to sit around in the lap of luxury being waited on hand and foot and in return they pretend that they love us when really they just love us stroking them and buying them piles of stuff Grin

LaurieMarlow · 27/04/2019 10:50

Not that I feel sorry for her or anything, but I can see how overwhelming this must be for Rose.

Until v recently no one outside of her posh set had heard of her. Now the world and his dog is talking about what she did/didn’t do.

Her twins are of an age to understand a bit of what’s going on if the rumours get back to them.

DeadWife · 27/04/2019 10:53

It must be so much more frustrating for the traditional media now when they used to have the monopoly on the news.

Now it's just out there on the internet regardless. Preempting and spoiling their "scoops".

FannyWork · 27/04/2019 10:54

they’re Eton boys that ski, would look down and not consider any woman that wasn’t beautiful/very thin/upper middle class/posh, and in a very priveledged and arrogant social circle.

Well neither of them married someone upper middle class or posh. Kate’s parents are ‘trade’ and Meghan is certainly not posh. Thin and beautiful, yes, but that’s just sexual attraction isn’t it? Not unique to them. I mean they’re wealthy and both were good looking when young so they weren’t going to get stuck with Bella Emberg or the girl on the counter at Greggs were they?

Kate is upper middle class.

Her parents are millionaire business people, she was educated at top public schools and her fathers family has reasonable pedigree (if you’re into that shite).

She’s not an aristo, but she absolutely fits the definition of UMC.

LaurieMarlow · 27/04/2019 10:58

My vote is MM ... That’s what would definitely happen on Eastenders

I’m hoping this is a joke.
