To think the UK media silence on the Prince William rumours is odd

Just that really. No idea if there's anything more than rumour and speculation, but it's all over social media that Prince William allegedly had an affair with one of Kate's friends, but there is a total media silence on it.
Pretty bizarre considering that Meghan Markle barely has to breathe and the media are covering it.

Didn’t you know it’s his hobby to lay roses? 🌹

😂😂😂

RickJames · 26/04/2019 18:24

He's rich as hell, he's a Prince he's also human. These things happen. If its true I'm not surprised at all. It's what rich people do.

sighrollseyes · 26/04/2019 18:29

Perhaps because there's more important things to be reporting on....

NoYo · 26/04/2019 18:32

Just been on Twitter. It's literally all over it.

I wonder what will happen next? Bet they're hoping the new baby will take up all the attention and the affair rumours will be forgotten about.

GimmieTheCoffeeAndNooneDies · 26/04/2019 18:32

But it is really common isn't it. Couple meet at university, drift in to marriage and children, reach their late 30s and suddenly realise they have nothing in common, and one of them has an affair.

The relationships board is full of identical situations.

limitedperiodonly · 26/04/2019 18:41

I can even see how the verruca comment affected her so deeply. We were brought up to have such a deep sense of shame about ourselves that a comment like that that others would brush off would have made me want to hide away and die, especially when I was younger.

Oh come off it. It's a verruca not syphilis.

Cafetierecoffee · 26/04/2019 18:42

But it is really common isn't it.

I think you meant to say “But it is not that unusual”

ElektraLOL · 26/04/2019 18:47

Yes, Diana famously (allegedly) said to Prince Phillip when he tried to 'put her in her place' 'my family is older than yours, Phillip'

happyhillock · 26/04/2019 18:50

@fannywork yes Diana and Raine did eventually make up, i dont know if i could if they did that to me , yes Raine did sell of paintings due to inheritance tax, but she also sold painting for vital repair's to Althorp, if it wasn't for her Althorp wouldn't be a family home, let's not forget Diana's brother opened up the house after Diana's death, bet he made a pretty penny.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 26/04/2019 18:56

Well I do hope it isn't true. It would be so nice for one royal couple to have a happy and long-standing marriage like the Queen and Philip (despite the rumours about Philip they have stayed together!).

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 26/04/2019 18:56

This thread is a revelation. Poor Diana and Fergie having to share shoes. Hmm

lyralalala · 26/04/2019 18:58

Apparantly, Diana - as a member of one of the oldest noble houses in England - used to refer dismissively to the Windsors as 'the Germans', and her nickname for her father in law was 'Stavros'.

The Queen Mother also had a bit of that about her.
She used to call Philip 'The Hun'

justasking111 · 26/04/2019 19:00

Re: twitter which I just looked it seems it is americans commenting about stuff they have read. Some alleging MM was thrown under the bus as a means of misdirection. Who knows. The Royal Family have always tried to keep things on the down low. Which is a perfectly normal human thing to do.

I don't think they are an example I'd want my daughters to follow tbh. The Queen could never have divorced Philip, no matter what he did. Nor could she have had a public fall out with either of the two people most commonly believed to have had an affair with him so they are long-standing, but at what price? I don't really think that's anything to aspire too.

God and we're meant to look up to a bunch of nasty racists? I agree with pp. I'm fascinated by them but they surely can't go on probably past George?

SerenDippitty · 26/04/2019 19:12

Don’t th e Wueen and Prince Philip lead largely separate lives anyway?

noodlenosefraggle · 26/04/2019 19:12

Is Andrews father meant to be someone else? He definitely doesn't look like his siblings!

NicoAndTheNiners · 26/04/2019 19:14

n another post like this, someone wrote that the Queen was actually quite common.

Might have been me. Ive preciously spoken about the comments I used to hear about the royals when I worked for an extremely aristocratic family. And yes the comments about them being referred to as "the Germans" are bang on. Along with other snide remarks about them being middle class and Tupperware.

Leleophants · 26/04/2019 19:16

Because 1. The Royal family are very well respected

  1. If it came from a certain ahem newspaper it's as likely as me making something up and publishing it. 🙄
VeryLittleOwl · 26/04/2019 19:19

noodle Yes, Lord Porchester, the Queen's racing manager was rumoured to be Andrew's father. www.ibtimes.co.uk/who-was-lord-porchester-all-about-man-who-allegedly-had-affair-queen-1603053

Yeah, there was a lot of opposition to Liz marrying Phil.

I don't know much about the Queen Mother. Was she a member of the high aristocracy before marrying into that upstart German family?

thenightsky · 26/04/2019 19:23

Careful... we don't want to lose this thread!

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 26/04/2019 19:26

Andrew looks just like George V - no problem there!

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 26/04/2019 19:27

Sorry George VI!

SlappingJoffrey · 26/04/2019 19:34

I don't usually even pay attention to the royals and I've still been having a prurient read of the full thread!
