I guess that they will be living with mum for quite a while!

They will have convinced themselves that the wedding was a howling success and that any family fall-out was not their fault but others', for being over-sensitive.

I suspect the B&G stayed in their room after the ceremony to yell & scream at each other over the fiasco. There would have been many mutterings they couldn't have avoided hearing & reality & their egos got into a great big car crash

How sad to have behaved in such a way that the verdict on your wedding from your own Granny is “Well, I’m glad that’s over”. And “Man up and socialise”?! I’m staggered.

OP I'm glad you all survived the fall out of an epic wedding tale. Your DM sounds great. You must let us know how it all works out. I'd be worried that they're wrangling her mother out of a house.

What I don’t get is why, when it was the groom who was up for a big do & the bride wasn’t that keen, it was the bride who ended up with all the guests? Is he slowly ditching all his friends & family in favour of hers?

My guess is Bride wanted all her family and actively discouraged him from inviting his. Possibly an element of controlling behaviour.

I'm giving this marriage a year.
