It’s a mind game. Really, it’s the othe way around, but they don’t want us to think this. They also don’t understand communism, socialism, and all the shades of -ism in between, but are happy to throw the terms around to scare people. The US is headed towards a autocratic fascist regime, egged on by these supporters - but I’m not sure it’s fully dawned in them yet.

Treasury denies 'unprecedented' request for Trump's tax returns
Analysts viewed the flat denial as a direct challenge to Congress’ power to oversee the other two branches of government
www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/may/06/treasury-denies-unprecedented-request-for-trumps-tax-returns

“In reliance on the advice of the Department of Justice, I have determined that the committee’s request lacks a legitimate legislative purpose,” Mnuchin writes, “and ... the department is therefore not authorized to disclose the requested returns and return information.”
[...]
Analysts rejected Mnuchin’s assertion that Congress did not have a “legitimate legislative purpose” for requesting Trump’s taxes.
[...]
Asha Rangappa, a former FBI special agent on the Yale faculty, added some historical background.

“The legislative purpose of the law under which the Ways & Means Committee is requesting Trump’s tax returns was passed in the wake of the Teapot Dome scandal,” Rangappa tweeted.

“The entire purpose of the law is to have oversight over potential financial conflicts of public officials.”

Early days.

Former Vice President Joe Biden leads President Trump by 5 points in Arizona, according to a poll released early Tuesday.

The OH Predictive Insights poll found 49 percent support for Biden, who formally entered the race for the White House last month, compared to 44 percent for Trump. Seven percent are undecided.

A similar poll conducted in February showed Biden and Trump tied at 46 points.

Trump, who beat Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in Arizona by 3.5 points in 2016, could be the first Republican to lose the state since Bob Dole lost to Bill Clinton in 1996.

Mike Pompeo: Melting sea ice presents 'new opportunities for trade'

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday praised the Arctic region and its rapidly shrinking levels of sea ice for its economic opportunities, despite continued warnings about the catastrophic effects of climate change.

"The Arctic is at the forefront of opportunity and abundance," Pompeo said in remarks in Rovaniemi, Finland. "It houses 13 percent of the world's undiscovered oil, 30 percent of its undiscovered gas, an abundance of uranium, rare earth minerals, gold, diamonds, and millions of square miles of untapped resources, fisheries galore."

"Steady reductions in sea ice are opening new passageways and new opportunities for trade," he continued. "This could potentially slash the time it takes to travel between Asia and the West by as much as 20 days."

"Arctic sea lanes could become the 21st century Suez and Panama Canals," Pompeo remarked.

So on the one hand they believe that climate change is a hoax
but on the other hand climate-change provides opportunities?

Their main point of contention is whether it's human driven or not, isn't it?

IIRC, ExxonMobil had been planning for it for decades.

Wouldn’t you think someone who personally lost over a BILLION dollars (“more than nearly any other taxpayer in America”) be vulnerable to shady activity to get out of that hole?

If they became the most powerful public servant in America, wouldn’t you want to see their taxes?
