It’s a National Non-Emergency: Trump thread 91

Here we are in February 2019 - Trump has declared a National Emergency to funnel the funds for his border wall, he’s just come off a ridiculous SOTU that contained more lies than not, and he’s just tweeted this:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump 2h2 hours ago
More
“These guys, the investigators, ought to be in jail. What they have done, working with the Obama intelligence agencies, is simply unprecedented. This is one of the greatest political hoaxes ever perpetrated on the people of this Country, and Mueller is a coverup.” Rush Limbaugh

But here’s a reminder he’s not one of the sharpest tools in the box.

'Prosecutors list the people Manafort "lied to" and decieved: FBI, Mueller's Office, grand jury, tax preparers, bookkeepers, banks, Treasury Dept., DOJ National Security Division, his own legal counsel, members of Congress, members of the executive branch.'

Prosecutors say Manafort lied to:
-tax preparers
-bookkeepers
-banks
-Treasury Department
-National Security Division of DOJ
-FBI
-Special Counsel’s Office
-grand jury
-his own legal counsel
-Members of Congress
-executive branch of US government

His own counsel? ? GrinGrin

Of course. Smile

Hooey Zooey. A Guardian piece.

Manafort filing

cozietoesie · 23/02/2019 22:13

I'd read that filing as a request for the max. What the judge may decide could be different, of course.

AcrossthePond55 · 23/02/2019 22:17

The jist I'm getting from the memo is "Throw the book at him. And if you don't, we reserve the right to contest the sentence".

TheClaws · 23/02/2019 22:48

Manafort lied and lied and lied, then lied again, apparently. Nothing but the best people!

Do you know who the judge is, Across ?

AcrossthePond55 · 23/02/2019 23:40

It's Amy Berman Jackson, the same judge that's hearing the Roger Stone case. You know, the one who just read Stone the riot act and imposed the gag order. Grin

IIRC, Stone's lawyer filed a motion for a new judge because she was the Manafort judge, but it was determined that the same judge should hear both cases.

I get the impression that she'll take no prisoners, so to speak. Smile

AcrossthePond55 · 24/02/2019 00:20

lol lion

Au contraire!! I think she'll take plenty of prisoners....she also was the judge in the Gates & van der Zwaan trials.
