It’s a National Non-Emergency: Trump thread 91

Here we are in February 2019 - Trump has declared a National Emergency to funnel the funds for his border wall, he’s just come off a ridiculous SOTU that contained more lies than not, and he’s just tweeted this:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump 2h2 hours ago
More
“These guys, the investigators, ought to be in jail. What they have done, working with the Obama intelligence agencies, is simply unprecedented. This is one of the greatest political hoaxes ever perpetrated on the people of this Country, and Mueller is a coverup.” Rush Limbaugh

But here’s a reminder he’s not one of the sharpest tools in the box.

From way back bit worth revisiting. Manafort and his daughter's texts:

Ah. The 'summit' is next week. I reckon that Mr M is a patriot first and foremost. He won't want 45 going into a meeting with a wily operator like Kim with anything but a clean waistcoat.

New: Michael Cohen met last month with federal prosecutors in Manhattan, offering information about possible irregularities within Trump's family business regarding insurance claims and about a donor to the inaugural committee, NYT reports.

Proving and knowing are two very different things. Smile

Nixon was a bright man.🙂

lionheart · 23/02/2019 00:48

I didn't know about Nixon and DV (from the awful piece on Manafort):

'Seymour Hersh, the journalist famously responsible for bringing the truth about the My Lai massacre to the American public, received a phone call in 1974 from a hospital in California. A doctor informed him that Richard Nixon, who had recently resigned the presidency, had beaten his wife Pat so badly she had just been admitted. Hersh never published the story, partly so as not to put his source — and, by extension, the hospital — at risk. Over the years, as Nixon’s abuse was confirmed by multiple other sources, Hersh maintained his silence. What did wife beating have to do with the man’s diplomacy in China or his role in Watergate? What did a “bad marriage” have to do with a man’s public life?'

It's currently 10:18 pm EST. There was a quick blurb on MSNBC that Manafort's sentencing documents may be filed tonight.

Also, motion to block Scrotus' NE declaration to be voted on in the House next week. If passed, it will then go to the Senate for a vote. McConnell can NOT block the vote.

"We keep showing up and eating the lobster." That's an amazing level of self-awareness by Andrea Manafort. That Kompromat article is fascinating/horrifying, thank you for the link, lionheart.

From what I'm seeing, there was a deadline of midnight on Friday for Mueller's sentencing document on Manafort to be filed; AP says: "Mueller’s team was to have weighed in by the end of the day on Manafort’s punishment in one of his two criminal cases. But the memo was not publicly filed by midnight Friday, an indication that the document includes sensitive information and that prosecutors are seeking a judge’s approval to redact, or black out, that material."

@kendisgibson
BREAKING: A federal judge has entered an order allowing Robert Mueller's prosecutors to file a redacted copy of Paul Manafort's sentencing memo for the public and an unredacted copy under seal. Filing could happen this afternoon and perhaps quite soon

cozietoesie · 23/02/2019 18:32

....unredacted under seal....?? Smile

AcrossthePond55 · 23/02/2019 19:15

Oooh, if ever we needed another 'Deep Throat' we need him now. (Although the original DT didn't leak documents, he just pointed Woodward & Bernstein in the right directions).

@ZoeTillman
NOW: Mueller's office has filed its redacted sentencing memo for Paul Manafort in his DC case. They're not taking a position on how much prison time he should get, or whether it should stack on top of whatever he gets in his Virginia case (link: www.scribd.com/document/400335128/2-23-19-US-Sentencing-Memo-Manafort-DC )
