It’s a National Non-Emergency: Trump thread 91

Here we are in February 2019 - Trump has declared a National Emergency to funnel the funds for his border wall, he’s just come off a ridiculous SOTU that contained more lies than not, and he’s just tweeted this:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump 2h2 hours ago
More
“These guys, the investigators, ought to be in jail. What they have done, working with the Obama intelligence agencies, is simply unprecedented. This is one of the greatest political hoaxes ever perpetrated on the people of this Country, and Mueller is a coverup.” Rush Limbaugh

But here’s a reminder he’s not one of the sharpest tools in the box.

Incredible exchange between
@jaketapper
& Pompeo

TAPPER: Do you think North Korea remains a nuclear threat?

POMPEO: Yes

T: But POTUS said he doesn't

P: That's not what he said

T: He tweeted, 'there's no longer a nuclear threat from NK'

P: Not quite

T: It's a direct quote!

More thoughts to ponder: If Trump believed Putin in Helsinki when he said he "didn't interfere" in our election, how did Hillary collude with the Russians?

The below is a key reason North Korea is unlikely to denuclearise. (DPRK Today)

Rodong Sinmun Urges Close Watch over Japan's Nuclear Weaponization

Pyongyang, February 23 (KCNA) -- Voices for the revision of the constitution and increased military spending and nuclear weaponization are heard from the conservative camp in Japan.

This indicates that the Abe group can go nuclear anytime after giving up "three non-nuclear principles" and consequently, peace in the Asia-Pacific region will be exposed to a great danger, Rodong Sinmun Saturday says in a commentary.

The commentary cites facts to prove that most Japanese rulers took much pain to realize nuclear ambition.

Japan is a war criminal state that invaded Korea and other Asian countries and ignited the Pacific war with sudden attack on the Pearl Harbor in the last century, and the one and only country which has persistently denied its crime-woven history, the commentary says, and goes on:

Japan's denial shows its will to repeat its past crimes. As a matter of fact, the Abe group is trying to turn Japan into a war-capable country and launch overseas aggression by revising the constitution that bans Japan from using armed forces and having the rights of belligerency and combat power.

Japan's desperate efforts for nuclear weaponization aim at taking revenge for its defeat, not for its security.

In case Japan gets rid of the "three non-nuclear principles", unimaginable will be the catastrophic consequences to be entailed on regional and global peace.

All the countries that truly want global peace and security should keep close watch over Japan's nuclear weaponization.

Does Trump have to be “the best” at everything? Is it really necessary to compete in this arena too, rather than collaborate, as nations have been doing peacefully for decades? (As an aside, one comment on this tweet was along the lines of, “IKEA has some great solutions for space ..)

The White House @WhiteHouse
The United States is the best in space, and our adversaries know it.

We have the most capable military in the world, but we can't afford to be complacent. Our use of space is necessary to keep America safe and to support our way of life.

The 17 states where Trump's approval meets or exceeds 50% account for a combined total of 102 electoral votes. In contrast, the states in which Trump has an approval rating below 40% account for 201 electoral votes. on.gallup.com/2Nl7hsw

It's time, people - Go, go go!

Vice President Pence is at Joint Base Andrews for an early flight to Colombia for his first face-to-face meeting with Juan Guaido.
President Trump heads to Vietnam in a few hours for his second summit with Kim Jong Un. Both will be overseas at the same time for a couple hours.

The definition of ignorance. Unbelievable.

Watch Trump’s top trade representative directly contradict him during a live televised meeting

PerkingFaintly · 25/02/2019 11:31

Woah. That clip of Bob-the-trade-rep managing the President of the United State''s behaviour live on TV is quite something.

Bob says, "We're never going to use that term again, we'll call it a trade agreement instead" – because 45 doesn't understand the legal term "memorandum of understanding", and refuses to grasp it when explained to him and says he doesn't like the word.

I find it particularly interesting because it encapsulates 45's behaviour: the wielding of immense power by someone too thick to know he's thick. He doesn't understand the facts, so the minion immediately changes the facts (superficially) to please him. 45 thinks he's been Da Boss and shown how in control he is; everyone outside is laughing at him.

More serious when 45 demands his minions change facts like "Russia interfered with the US election" or "N Korea is developing nuclear weapons".

AcrossthePond55 · 25/02/2019 12:39

That MOU/contract/agreement shit had me screaming at the telly. How can one person contain so much stupidity and ignorance?

Roussette · 25/02/2019 15:15

I saw Bob-the-trade-rep clip yesterday and I did think to myself... despite being Republicans, there will be professional knowledgeable people in high up posts dealing with POTUS. I cannot begin to imagine the frustration that they go through having to deal with such ignorance.

It reminds me of my DCs tantrumming over something inconsequential like me calling their toothbrush the blue toothbrush when they wanted it called their toothbrush and me saying, OK I'll always call it your toothbrush from now on and never call it the blue toothbrush. Grin

If Mother Pence is in Colombia and Ignorant Trump on way to Vietnam for his photo op, it really is time to change the locks.
