I always imagine that the contestants agonise over what to cook. The ovens must be slightly different to home, the pressure must get to you, and you must want to show off! So- what would be your go to dish for the critic?

I assume my home made doner wouldn’t make the cut

I freeze and panic about this just THINKING about it!

When they show the Market shelves with so many things... my mind goes into a whirl of possibilities. I'd be standing there for ages, sad and blank.

I don't think I'd better apply Grin

Really interested to hear what others come up with.

Onlyjoinedforthisthread · 15/02/2019 22:22

Beans on toast

MyKingdomForACaramel · 15/02/2019 22:23

Agree! The “market” looks quite intimidating

But to be honest I couldn't go on it because I think I'd be very like it to stab Gregg or John or possibly both.

MunchyMunchkin · 15/02/2019 22:27

My answer to the market challenge is always a frangipani tart with some kind of fruit. Can memorise pastry and cake recipe then just got to watch out for the new oven. Perhaps make custard in the leftover time.

HouseOfGoldandBones · 15/02/2019 22:29

I think fish of some description.

John & Greg always seem impressed when someone manages to cook that well.

Lottapianos · 15/02/2019 22:30

'But to be honest I couldn't go on it because I think I'd be very like it to stab Gregg or John or possibly both.'

You're clearly my kind of woman Grin

Chicken Kiev and roast potatoes

KC225 · 15/02/2019 22:53

On a works night out a quiet colleague once confessed that her sexual fantasy was John and Gregg in twice baked, flambéed three way. What a dirty bird! I thought less of her an person after that.

MayhemandMadness01 · 15/02/2019 22:53

2 rectangluar fish fillets covered in secret recipe batter, served on a bed of flavoured butter lightly spread over freshly kneeded flat white bread with a splash of tomato flavoured puree and covered with another layer of flavoured butter spread on freshly kneeded flat white bread.

Cup-a-soup with toast crumbs on top.

Spaghetti hoops on rest of toast.

Butterscotch angel delight.

YoThePussy · 15/02/2019 23:29

Sorry done the full three course menu. Make it the butterscotch angel delight with squirty cream blobs on.

babysharkah · 15/02/2019 23:30

Steak. Perfect steak with bearnise. Relatively simple but well executed- perfect.

Weenurse · 15/02/2019 23:35

Mexican chicken, made with jar taco sauce and jar passata and chicken stock cube. Served with avocado and packet tortillas. Yum

Elliemayclampett · 16/02/2019 08:21

@hollowtalk I don’t follow a recipe, I just chuck it all in Smile carrots, onion, butternut squash, sweet potato, celery. Stock cube, let that cook to 80% done. Shredded chicken breast, tin of sweetcorn and I boil up some rice and chuck that in.
Salt and pepper. Crusty bread.

NorthernBirdAtHeart · 16/02/2019 09:04

Lasagne- it take bloody hours but is so worth it

DrFoxtrot · 16/02/2019 09:12

My go to recipe is roast chicken breast with creamy butternut squash and chilli (Jamie Oliver Grin). I'd have to tweak it so it was 'my own'!
