AIBU?

To ask what your master chef signature dish would be?

I always imagine that the contestants agonise over what to cook. The ovens must be slightly different to home, the pressure must get to you, and you must want to show off! So- what would be your go to dish for the critic?

But then you would say it was deep fried - that's my point. I think some people think it's posher to say 'pan fried'.

The term 'pan fry' gets my goat. Wtf else are you going to fry anything in?

It's just a normal description isn't it? If something was just described as fried I wouldn't know if it was deep or pan fried.

Cod cooked with Dijon mustard and lemon. I wrap it in greaseproof paper and cook in the oven. Served with Herby new potatoes and a carrot and red onion salad.
Possibly not fancy enough for MasterChef but I like it!

Dolmio and pasta!

Actually it would probably be a curry. Copied directly from a really good recipe book I have. And onion bhaji.
Which keeps autocorrecting to banjo.

Anything!
Only reason I would go there is to keep an eye on clock and shout out time seconds before Gregg.
And just watch him lose it 😂

You can cook pork fillet in 15 mins? Genuine question, never cooked it.

Ooh this is so funny! I was catching up with the new series today and asked myself the same question, and ended up making my ‘signature dish’ idea for tea! It’s a regular dish in our house but fancied up a bit for my imaginary masterchef challenge entry. It’s a sort of rustic traditional French type dish (I think anyway) comprising of chicken thighs cooked in chicken stock with lemon, tarragon and green beans. Normally we have it with little pan fried crispy potatoes or a green salad and crusty bread but today had a go at making fondant potatoes. They were delicious and my new favourite thing to make/eat! Really loving reading everyone’s ideas, thanks for this thread!

Might get carried away in the Market place and be the contestant who cooks Hake, with lemon grass, blackberries, chorizo, duck egg, chocolate and red wine jus!
