To ask what your master chef signature dish would be?

I always imagine that the contestants agonise over what to cook. The ovens must be slightly different to home, the pressure must get to you, and you must want to show off! So- what would be your go to dish for the critic?

Croquembouche. Am an OK cook but for some reason have a bit of a gift with choux pastry. Can't make cakes though so not sure how this came about. Make them for friends for special occasions. Don't like sweet things myself so never eat the buggers!

Definitely my favourite dinner of pasta with a splat of tomato puree and cheddar. Hmm

I used to cook interesting things before having my children, but I've noticed you have to feed them EVERY SINGLE DAY, and the unreasonableness of this has dampened my enthusiasm.

@pugwash1 - my mum has the same gift! So so cook but has a flair for choice pastry that I find dazzling

Super noodles with chicken nuggets on top

Oh I could totally go for that right now!

My go-to dish would be pea and asparagus risotto.

My cooking is fine but I don't think there's anything I make that's particularly special.

Impossible to say as Masterchef only allows "short cook" dishes.
I don't "pan fry" anything.
At a push a pheasant dish, but I am known for my wild boar in red wine (with chili and chocolate in the sauce).

I've never had wild boar, but I'd like to try that - sounds delicious. The term 'pan fry' gets my goat. Wtf else are you going to fry anything in?

Aww I love Masterchef but it doesn't suit my cooking- I'm crap with timings and I like slow cooked stuff. I always think to get through the larder elimination task you should just perfect something generic that can be adapted to the store cupboard- ravioli, fruit tart, risotto and make it look awesome

I am also shit with timings, and cannot cook under pressure, I have been known to throw my mum out of the kitchen if she makes the slightest comment.

Mine would be cranberry lamb with garlic roast potatoes and green veg or perhaps beef bourguignon with creamy mash or rice.

DHs would be a pork wellington- a dish of his own invention which comprises of a shop bought sausage roll wrapped in a piece of tomato ketchup slathered white bread. Grin

Grilled cheese on toast.
The important ingredient is very very finely chopped red onion sprinkled on the cheese. Not too much, you don’t want to over power the cheese.
For Masterchef I might put very thinly sliced tomato and about some thyme under the cheese.

Pork fillet with honey and mustard cream sauce. Only takes about 15 minutes and looks quite fancy. Probably with mash and some sort of veg.

Not the most exciting but probably the most "mastercheffy" thing I make.
