I always imagine that the contestants agonise over what to cook. The ovens must be slightly different to home, the pressure must get to you, and you must want to show off! So- what would be your go to dish for the critic?

Croquembouche. Am an OK cook but for some reason have a bit of a gift with choux pastry. Can't make cakes though so not sure how this came about. Make them for friends for special occasions. Don't like sweet things myself so never eat the buggers!

SubparOwl · 16/02/2019 10:09

Definitely my favourite dinner of pasta with a splat of tomato puree and cheddar. Hmm

I used to cook interesting things before having my children, but I've noticed you have to feed them EVERY SINGLE DAY, and the unreasonableness of this has dampened my enthusiasm.

Coldilox · 16/02/2019 10:16

Cheese on toast with poached eggs on top.

MorningsEleven · 16/02/2019 10:45

SubparOwl they suck the joy out if everything.

MyKingdomForACaramel · 17/02/2019 18:56

@pugwash1 - my mum has the same gift! So so cook but has a flair for choice pastry that I find dazzling

Super noodles with chicken nuggets on top

Oh I could totally go for that right now!

My go-to dish would be pea and asparagus risotto.

Oysterbabe · 17/02/2019 19:23

My cooking is fine but I don't think there's anything I make that's particularly special.

PlainVanilla · 17/02/2019 19:26

Impossible to say as Masterchef only allows "short cook" dishes.
I don't "pan fry" anything.
At a push a pheasant dish, but I am known for my wild boar in red wine (with chili and chocolate in the sauce).

wowfudge · 17/02/2019 19:36

I've never had wild boar, but I'd like to try that - sounds delicious. The term 'pan fry' gets my goat. Wtf else are you going to fry anything in?

Hobbesmanc · 18/02/2019 15:40

Aww I love Masterchef but it doesn't suit my cooking- I'm crap with timings and I like slow cooked stuff. I always think to get through the larder elimination task you should just perfect something generic that can be adapted to the store cupboard- ravioli, fruit tart, risotto and make it look awesome

Bunnybaubles · 18/02/2019 16:26

Burnt 😁

BlooperReel · 18/02/2019 16:30

I am also shit with timings, and cannot cook under pressure, I have been known to throw my mum out of the kitchen if she makes the slightest comment.

Eliza9917 · 18/02/2019 16:31

Tinned hot dogs in buns served with frozen cubed veg a la school dinners.

HalfBloodPrincess · 18/02/2019 16:37

Steak with Diane sauce, chunky chips, sautéed mushrooms and peas

BrigitsBigKnickers · 18/02/2019 16:53

Mine would be cranberry lamb with garlic roast potatoes and green veg or perhaps beef bourguignon with creamy mash or rice.

DHs would be a pork wellington- a dish of his own invention which comprises of a shop bought sausage roll wrapped in a piece of tomato ketchup slathered white bread. Grin

learieonthewildmoor · 18/02/2019 17:38

Grilled cheese on toast.
The important ingredient is very very finely chopped red onion sprinkled on the cheese. Not too much, you don’t want to over power the cheese.
For Masterchef I might put very thinly sliced tomato and about some thyme under the cheese.

easyandy101 · 18/02/2019 17:51

Just give Wallace a pot of double cream and a spoon

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/02/2019 17:53

Macaroni cheese followed by rice pudding. Food of the gods.

WoollyMummoth · 18/02/2019 18:02

A dish with my signature on it

greenelephantscarf · 18/02/2019 18:03

really hot chilli con carne with nachos and lots of stringy melty cheese.

Duchessgummybuns · 18/02/2019 18:09

Just give Wallace a pot of double cream and a spoon

Grin Instant win

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 18/02/2019 18:09

Scratch made lasagne and Malteasers cheesecake

Ellabella989 · 18/02/2019 18:12

Prawn and chorizo linguine and then a tiramisu for pud

Hunter037 · 18/02/2019 18:12

Pork fillet with honey and mustard cream sauce. Only takes about 15 minutes and looks quite fancy. Probably with mash and some sort of veg.

Not the most exciting but probably the most "mastercheffy" thing I make.

OhHolyFcuk · 18/02/2019 18:14

@wowfudge deep fry I guess?
