I love a good bonkers substitution thread. Some of the ones make me properly crack up.

I had an excellent one recently - I ordered 100g of Brie for a recipe, and they sent 4 x 200g slabs of the stuff. Dd and I have Brie on everything for about 3 weeks.

I think it's funny OP, because it's just so stupid to replace 2 items with 1!

I was talking to someone today who picks for Tesco, she said by the end of a shift she just puts in whatever the scanner will let her put in.
So if the scanner will let her substitute grapes for white wine she does it!

That’s better than my local Tesco manage, who once substituted a wooden spoon for wooden skewers.

I ordered two single red onions from Amazon fresh, and they sent me two bags of three red onions instead (so six onions, rather than two). Not only that, because it was a substitution, they were free.

I was quite impressed.

Substituting lightbulbs was a bit of a dim moment!

Now I like to think of myself as somewhat of a cook. I don't use pre-made sauces for most things.

But I actually quite like that packet sauce. I add gravy for a thicker sauce.

Anyone wondering about sausage casserole, I do the Hairy bikers sausage casserole, it's delish.

They seem similar to me so it seems an OK substitution. Perhaps I'm missing something. One's in a jar, and the other's in a packet. I assume you mix it with water or something?

@daisypond well I'm getting one sachet not two, and I'm not sure I can mix it then leave it in the slow cooker all day like I do with the jar sauce - I feel it might be too runny for that purpose!

They've also substituted my JARRED Korma sauces for slightly larger JARRED Korma sauces

I know right! There's nowt wrong with using a jar or packet anything. Likewise great if you are into cooking from scratch.

You can't beat a nice sausage casserole.
