To think salted caramel...

Dollygirl2008 · 29/01/2019 20:15

... is utter filth?? I mean, who the hell thought caramel and salt actually go together? Do you think someone used salt instead of sugar and thought "hang on, I might be able to get away with this...."

Or AIBU and cynical...

YaNBU.

It's Wrong. Very Wrong.

I've no idea why it's so bloody fashionable. Angry

KoraBora · 29/01/2019 20:18

YABVVVVVVVU Angry. Salt and Caramel go together like bacon and maple syrup, especially over fresh waffles...

PlainSpeakingStraightTalking · 29/01/2019 20:19

It is the food of Gods.

YABU

Go sit on the naughty step

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 29/01/2019 20:19

YANBU. I hate salted caramel.

Also, it’s done, next fad please. Everything is fucking salted caramel. Bored now. I just want caramel back please.

Returnofthesmileybar · 29/01/2019 20:34

It's been done to death, salted caramel and gin and tonic flavoured everything! Ice pops, chocolate, crisps, cocktails, candles, popcorn, desserts, cakes, biscuits, drinks, ice creams, yoghurts, peanuts, everything!

Snuffalo · 29/01/2019 20:38

It’s overdone (and when it’s some Costa latte bullshit or cheap Tesco pudding, it’s just plain artificially flavoured caramel) but a touch of salt to bring out rich, sweet flavours had been around forever. You just need to eat or make better quality food to understand it.

Curvygurl · 29/01/2019 20:38

It’s vile. Don’t get it Blush

SaltedIceCream · 29/01/2019 20:39

I love it.

Salted caramel hagan daz is amazing.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 29/01/2019 20:39

I hate it. It's even put me off normal caramel.

TyneTeas · 29/01/2019 20:41

I have only had it in the form of Matchmakers and Morrisons 3for£1 choc ice lollies.

Both were tasty

MooFeatures · 29/01/2019 20:41

Dirty words 🤤

jaseyraex · 29/01/2019 20:44

YANBU. I wish it would stop already. I picked up some millionaires shortbread the other day and was devastated to find the caramel was bloody salted!

Dollygirl2008 · 29/01/2019 20:44

I'm relieved it's not just me....

Ooh salted caramel is just too delicious. I absolutely love it Smile

dellacucina · 29/01/2019 20:45

YABU. Salt is a flavour enhancer. That said, it's played out and sometimes oversalted.

YesThisIsMe · 29/01/2019 20:47

YABU. Nothing better than when something you love becomes madly fashionable and is absolutely everywhere. See also kimchi, teal and velvet jackets.

Bohbell · 29/01/2019 20:49

It smells funny and you have to wash your hands when you’ve touched it.

brizzledrizzle · 29/01/2019 20:49

YABVVVVU, salted caramel is amazing.

MysweetAudrina · 29/01/2019 20:49

Salted caramel haagen daz, hotel chocolat, pudding, I love it all so yabu. Lots of people must enjoy it as its everywhere and in everything.

RagingWhoreBag · 29/01/2019 20:49

YABVU

You need a bit of saltiness in caramel to counteract the sweetness. If you ever try buttercream made with unsalted butter v salted you'll see what I mean, unsalted is grim. Anything sweet benefits from the balance salt brings.

But yeah, I also love bacon and maple syrup, pork & apple sausages etc and I must admit the best pie I ever ate was a meat pie made with sweet pastry - not sure if it was a mistake, but I had it 10 years ago and still remember how tasty it was.

Disclaimer: I may have a disorder.

Shallishanti123 · 29/01/2019 20:50

When it’s done right it’s gorgeous.

FamilyOfAliens · 29/01/2019 20:51

Maybe just don’t buy it?
